Great play through. Thanks man. Someone in my town is selling one of these and I checked your video. I’ve been looping with a guitar effects board and I love it. Along with playing on ableton. I really want one after watching you play it
Happy new year Jo and Doug. Thanks you for all I’ve learnt from you this year and the wonderful music I’ve enjoyed on Soundcloud. Keep safe and have a wonderful year.
Doug. dont forget the excellent GATE/ARP control. also a tip about pad erasing while performing, if you hit the erase loop and then the loop you want to earse, it will flash red until you reach the end of the loop to erase. then its back to green as free to record on. you dont have to hold the pad all the way through. if you only want to earse a part of the loop, hit erase loop and i think hold it then the pad in the bar/ section you want to erase. in fact you can actually do similar gating effects to the Gate/Arp switch by 'stabbing' the pad to erase while erase loop is activated. this is a superb bit of kit CRIPPLED by poor midi implementation and disgraceful midi sync problems. KORG SHOULD HAVE FIXED THIS AGES AGO😡 Have you ever tried to sync this up to external gear so the loops stay in sync?!?! just never make it the master clock gen thats all i can say. but the reverbs and delays all seem to sync in time if setup to a stabe ext sync last thing there is NO LOOP START AT BAR ZERO. all the loops basically are constantly running if the background so when you think you are stopping a loop YOU ARE ACTUALLY JUST MUTING IT!! took me a while to work that out hahahaha but that explains why your timing needs to be spot on and all loops will drift over time so not entirely stable to loop forever. i find if you keep a pad looping the main beat or kick drum and work off that then you have more luck keeping most other things in time. also affecting the loop lengths ( hit shidt then a pad then rotate the program button) you can get some well wierd artefacts with super short lengths then i think you can 'overdub' them onto a new track. or is that the kp3? hope that helps jb x hope that helps
I’ve got this piece of equipment. I like that I can ad sound loops from other sources. My main gripe is a slow load time. You definitely can play it like a stand alone instrument which’s is cool. The sounds and drums on board are very good and useful in composing. I wish you could control the sounds with midi keyboard controller. I’ve seen you can via a daw software and some mapping but for me that’s too much detail as I’m a plug and play sort of fellow. I still like this unit a lot. I like jamming on the pad with the loops that I’ve loaded in is so cool.
Paul Flaherty ypu can play it from a midi keyboard. lookup Retrokits midi solutions, RK02 i think it is a programmable cable. you can load in other mappings too. its not just for the Kaoss!! hope that helps. jb x
also if you hold shift and move the program/tempo knob it jumps in increments so swifter getting to other sounds. BUT you have 8 buttons at the top to store favourite sounds you can get to instantly to record onto any loop or just play along. these are also saved and loaded when you save ALL to the SD memory card. shame the total number of ALL banks is limited. loop pads can also be saved seperately or groups of 2's or all samples or sound loops can also be saved individually so this unit can potentially be a sample bank BUT NO timestretching/ warping so tempo affects sample pitch but this can bee kool expecially if you wanna dirty up yo beats man hope that helps jb x
Need help Doug: I just got my new korg monologue but not sure how to connect it to my kaossilator pro+ and then to speakers? And then is there anything in the settings menus I have to mess with for either machine? Thanks.
How old are these things? Can you plug a keyboard into them yet or is the MIDI still screwed? I mean with only a modest bit of improvement, they could fix this.
tip#3000 also if you want to record watching the beats time go round then hit the record button. then a pad. it will sit looping waiting for audio in or a sound generated from the pad. then it will time stamp from the beat that sound was derected. ie if your sound started at beat 3 then you need to play up to beat 2.4 ( i think) or summimk like that. when you play the first sound to loop and just hit n hold the pad it treats that as beat 1 usually. i think jb x
Belated happy new year to you & Jo :) [actually I believe I did the New Year thing at the time but not in this video] - Doug I have my eye on a used one with 2 year warranty. I'm slightly on the fence but you seem to get good use out of it. Heads or Tails ? - Cheers. Lee
Can you edit a sound so the vertical movement of your finger on the pad introduces vibrato. (Yes I know some presets have it but what if you want to introduce it yourself to a preset that does not normally have it) Vibrato that you can set the vibrato speed as well. Many of these presets don't seem to be editable in any way. Am I right? Its very limiting if that is the case.
Please lord, will somebody PLEASE PLEASE tell me how i access my saved loops from the bank...can i not just press something and get into my banks of saved loops and press a button so i can play it back, the loops(bank) i want to listen to? Please can someone hear me on Planet Earth?
@@TheSoundTestRoom so you mean the USB as output only and doesn't have MIDI over USB? Or do you mean the analog out into interface? The USB on many devices acts only as audio output transfer into computer and becomes basically its own interface rather than acting as a MIDI device

I bought mine in 2022!!!!!...... And I Subd YOUR Channel Today in 2024!!!!!!!!!!
Man, that was a great performance. Can’t wait to hear Jo, as well.
Hilarious. “What darling?” Love it it, very real.

Happy New Year to Doug, Jo and everyone in TSTR! Sorry I couldn't make the livestream!
Hi Colin, and a very Happy New Year to you and Sandra too
Brilliant mate!
Happy new year! I don’t think I “get” the Kaossilator but I can see it being fun....
Bonjour, merci pour votre vidéo. Il y a la batterie intégrée ? Merci pour votre retour. 😊
Kaos is fun
YES PLEEEZE. MORE KAOSS PRO PLUS VIDS MATE😜😜😜😜😎😎👍👍
show us the vocoder next. OOOOH and see what it does to drum loops😜😜😜
in select: "ONE OCTAVE" don't the eight notes of the scale correspond to the eight lights exactly?
also if you hold shift and move the program/tempo knob it jumps in increments so swifter getting to other sounds. loop pads can also be saved seperately or groups of 2's or all
samples or sound loops can also be saved individually
so this unit can potentially be a sample bank
BUT
NO timestretching/ warping
so tempo affects sample pitch
but this can bee kool expecially if you wanna dirty up yo beats man
hope that helps

Hi Doug. Great video. How to sync with say a DAW. Can it be sync using the usb cable? Thanks
So how do you connect the kaossilator to a speaker or speakers?

No, you can’t do that
at 36:45 did you notice the blocks sounds exactly same as the intro to Tears for Fears Mad World?!😯😜
does it send midi?

Can you plug it directly to your daw ?
You could plug in the audio output into your audio interface
@@TheSoundTestRoom as a instrument input right?

CHIKKKABOOOWWWAAABOOOWWOOOO....🤣🤣🤣🤣🎶🎶🎶
How to get 16 Beats all I seem to be able to do is get 8 beats per measure I called tech support no such luck
