So I'm going to demonstrate a front kick. So we're going to stay in a fighting stance. We're going to first knees up and snap out and recover. So this is how it goes. So knees up. Come back. One more time. And bring it back.
Now how do we do a front kick step by step? I'm staying in a fighting stance. First, I'm going to do is keep my knees up like this. One. Make sure your knees are pointing straight up, one. And now the next thing you do, you just kick out, two. Bring it back in and put it down forward or you can bring it back. It's your choice. So one more time. Knees up. And bring it back. One more time. And bring it back.
Now after you start getting the front kick down, I like to train with the target. So I have my partner with me. He's going to hold the target. Make sure the target is about maybe at the stomach level. I like to make sure the target is slightly up like this. Make sure it's not down, not too high. Make sure it's flat. So now I'm going to stay my distance in a fighting stance. Number one, don't forget to relax. So relax. One, two. Knees up. And give it a snap kick. One more time. And that's how we do a front kick.
So, a couple of points he misses during the step-by-step lesson is that, the most common misconception of the first step isn't to raise the leg, rather to make your front foot angled 45° outward as this does help with the balance and make it easier for you to put the kicking leg back behind the front leg after the kick. (you can replay the video slowly and you'll see his front foot pivot). The second one he missed is that when your practicing the kick, doing it step by step helps, but you don't have to kick that high, focus on getting your leg straight even on a low angle because irregulardless of the height of the kick, keeping the leg directionally forward will make it much more effective rather than angling the leg as it opens sideways from the knee bent position. Lastly there are different uses of front kicks. If you are applying it to hurt someone having your foot hit with the top part of your sole should help. Or if your kicking to push the opponent backward, having the whole sole of your foot or the top part (again) should push the opponent back. Hopefully you've found this useful.
Would love to read it if it was in the form of paragraphs, anyways appreciate the effort mate
Finished reading it and it's helpful!

🤣🤣🤣
little bit of advice when u do ur vids make sure u give small details like if the toes should be up or down :)
Ok so ur toes should be pointed when kicking the target and flex when kicking a person
@@KingstonKoutureVlog is there a reason for this?
I just lack the flexibility and I have popping hip , the best I can do is to target the
abdomen
I also have popping, mainly with my side kicks. I don’t know if it has something to do with the muscle or what but if someone knows please help lmao
My master told me to hit the target with the ball of my feet.
Same
yeah, i cringed as soon as i saw that
Same
Ive never seen someone throw a front kick in a tournament or sparring... when do you use it?
gledrian gutierrez Conor McGregor uses it pretty often in MMA and im sure there are other fighters who use it too. Some use it to maintain distance, some use it for damage.
I like your videos becz it is not lengthy and boring...
Concept is always clear
What kind of stretches do I need to do in order to hold the front kick up high for poomsae? I'm good at getting my front kick high but I want to work on holding it up. Are there any specific leg stretches that could help this?
If you can't hold
It up then those muscles are week
Thank you!
Cade Bang is right. Your flexibility will dictate how high you can kick. However, in order to hold the kick, your muscles have to be strong enough to maintain that position. A drill you can practice to strengthen your leg muscles is to hold out your kick (at a comfortable height) and raise/lower your leg 10x and then hold for 10 seconds. Do that for at least 3 sets and you're legs will get stronger, thus, allowing you to hold your kick.
Andrew Soriano thank you!! I will definitely do that!!!!
Devon Arce u are beautiful
Great videos sir........very helpful for begineers...
How do I get my shin/bottom half of the leg to stick straight out? I have no problem with getting my knee high, it's extending my leg out straight AFTER the knee is up I can't seem to do. It's always bent, and I'm not sure what to do? Work out a certain part/muscle? Do more stretches? I'm going for my yellow soon and I'm wanting to have this down
I have the same problem, but am making progress! I think a combination of stretches to open up the tendons (forward folds both standing and sitting, dynamic and static) and excercises to strengthen the muscles (tons of leg lifts of all kinds, focusing on keeping legs straight as much as possible). Try to do it as part of full body routise, otherwise you'll close another door opening this one.
If unsure where to start, this is precisely what yoga was designed for over centuries, along with the mindfulness to understand what you're doing and why. Don't be afraid to try out a few places/instructors; I found my first few seemed too distracted by US social body image/fad culture to do their job.
U guys are cool
Ur videos are awesome 👍👍👍
This is fascinating!
Great video :) Simple is the name of the game when it comes to explaining martial arts
I'm going to love doing the double roundhouse kick
Oh the tornado kick is the best in my opinion. Double roundhouse is really fun too.
I freakin love front kick
Same because it is easy right 🤣🤣
@@turbostorm2482 Yes and it is also super sneaky
I wouldn't recommend hitting the target with your toes.
If you hit something harder like a real human jaw, you would hurt yourself.
You are right! Front kicks are usually aimed to solar plexus though, on which case hitting with you toes is more effective. An exeption makes the rule! :-)
Good kick
Make sure you keep your knees slightly bent to avoid injury to the knees.
Thank you sensei
some important step didn't say out, like the weight leg on the floor needed to turn ...
good simple instructions but not much snap
I was always taught to pull your toes back and strike with the ball of your foot, so as to hit harder and with less chance of breaking your toes lol 🤷♂️
Guess it really was different years ago

I still have problem with the distinction between front kick and push kick…
Think of it this way. The front kick is more a strick too the gut. The push kick isn't a strick at all. It's taking and pushing u back
I'm already jr black belt ik that kick
Picks a chocolate Ayah!
5 minutes to get rid of it
