Fun Fact: the real-life Saito had 3 sons and was described to have been very strict (or maybe overly passionate would be a better way to describe it, anyway) when it came to teaching his kids swordsmanship. One of his kids recalled a year when he was unbearable because he kept ambushing them with a wooden sword and then getting angry because they were caught off guard (￣ ￣|||)

Omg Chizuru no wonder it takes so long for him to admit feelings for you....!!!! (I can't be too harsh because tbh I would have been the same at 14 years old or however old she is at this point. I would have struggled to believe the person I'm interested in could possibly be interested in me too.)
I think she must be around 15-16 (I don't know if there is an official birthday date for Chizuru... In a fic, I arbitrarily chose february and it's now my canon but it's not THE canon)
And yeah, I would have been dense as hell too at that age

.. Dubious. But to summarise, I think it's the main reason that the game almost completely holds off from intimate scenes until 1868 or 1867.
@@SaltyNeo Yeah, according to the Hakuoki Wiki, she is *16* at the beginning of the story. Around 20 towards the end. Hajime is about 19 when they first meet. Bear in mind that Japan didn't use the gregorian calander till after the Meiji Restoration, plus they rarely bothered with recording birthdates mostly to avoid confusing the illiterate lower class. So trying to figure out people's ages back then can be a real headache.
To be fair, Hajime is kind of in the same boat as Chizuru when it comes to realising his own feelings.
