Thank you for this. Okita's route is really sad... This is just me, but he feels almost ghostly. Like he's lost so much of what defined him and the past era. His and Chizuru's romance is very bittersweet.

Ever since I start watching Hakuouki, I laid my eyes on Kazama instead of the guys from Shinsengumi, as he straight up became my favourite ever and this is the Top reason why, in fact, he's the perfect match for Chizuru as he always protects her and never lied to her nor leaves her like what the Shinsengumi did as he only wanted her as his wife as Chizuru is also a Demon just like him and this is actually the Happy Ending I wanted

Thanks for this, great video. Made me remember Chizuru was kinda a prisoner of the shinsengumi. Shinpachi is a pretty approachable guy, too.

thank you for this ^^ It's an amazing contrast considering how cold Heisuke's first words to her were whilst he was in work mode is compared to how warm and comforting he becomes once they grow closer over time. He's a great guy. Wonder what story is behind his sword, too.

I feel there is a hint of mental exhaustion in Kazama's words. I feel being responsible for the lives of the people in his clan had exhausted him. Unlike the epilogue of some other route, like the Hijikata's epilogue, where Hijikata sounds very relaxed, Kazama sounds tired. He's not like how he was during the whole route. In Kyoto winds and even in edo blossoms, he doesn't sound that tired. It's as if his time in Kyoto winds and edo blossoms was an escapism from his life that we see now in his epilogue.

Random bit of lore dump here, but it's interesting that he mentions Kitano Tengmanu-jinja, since according to legend it houses a tachi that Watanabe no Tsuna used to severe Ibaraki Dōji's arm. Furthermore, in the prequel Toki no Kizuna, one of the main antagonists, Hatsushimo Senkimaru, is a direct descendant of the Dōji Onis. In fact it's heavily implied to be *his* mummified arms that Yase kept, and were eventually claimed by Takeda and Iba.
