- It's a Two Can Special - two different, but actually, rather similar, cans of beans with stuff in them.
I got these at B+M Store in Fareham - they cost £1 each.
As mentioned in the video - Ashens has already featured these products - here are a couple of links (If you end up subscribing over there, please consider mentioning Atomic Shrimp in a comment):

• Hunger Breaks Mixed Gr...
I think you would only be able to give a true review of these by putting the sausage in the hot dog wobbler
I love you so crutch you sonmuch
How are you etuch
Appreciated that you showed the label rather than reading it. Hope to see more of that.
Take their hopes
Drain their souls
Feed them the beans
Hunger Breaks
came from your fake 2TB usb video and been binge watching these ever since (with a couple of ciders to hand) thanks!
I was working at Glastonbury a couple years back and had one of these amongst my stock of survival food.. was an absolute treat despite what many people are saying. I even ate it cold
We do appreciate you risking yourself to provide us with knowledge.
8:44 That makes me think of 'bachelor chow' from Futurama.
Mushrooms are in fact life threatening to me at least.
Now with flavour?
I think bean stew with sausagy meat is pretty common all over the world (with some regional variability, of course). The really british part is eating it for _breakfast._
Yes, it looks like cheap Cassoulet.
feijoada in brasil
"Mixed Grill" is a dog food flavor in the US! 🤣
I'm from the states. I grew up on beans and dogs (plain hot dogs) mixed together. That looks delicious
@@Kirodev Well, having a slightly bigger family with a limited budget, you gotta make do with what you got lol
James Stone My grandad loves spam but I just can’t get into it lol
Because it is lol
Bro pork beans and rice. So plain cut up hotdogs mixed with beans mixed with rice. Is bomb, grew up on this, makes a meal for 5 and only about 4$
@@johnstock3282 bro, i like spamm, but it's too salty 😔😔😔
"Hunger Breaks. It certainly does." - Ashens
8:27 *chewing* Ew! *pause* Oh, no!
😂 He didn’t sound surprised saying it and I wasn’t surprised hearing it.
I think this was one of the first videos of yours I saw - weirdly, RUclips is recommending content I've already watched years ago. I actually got hooked on the All Day Breakfast and it remains to this day a guilty pleasure, but I've never seen the Mixed Grill out in the wild!
I'm trying very hard to not imagine what hardware store and petfood flavored chicken in bean sauce might taste like.
Memories of Army ration packs, freezing cold and wet in Germany, this was the highlight of the day!
👍🏽
They are really sweet those army ration pack bean meals. I remember them being too much for me. We used to get them in school, as it was a military school.
So the results are in, yes it tastes of beans and the smell of pet shops, yummy lol
I did not expect there to be a little well of egg inside that meatball, good lord. Love this series!
I've always suspected it was meant to be a very small scotch egg. It's really not doing a very good job of it, though.
Ah! Mentioning Stuart Ashens like the man of culture, you are! 😁
We used to take these camping in our less glampy phase. The dogs over the illusive third mushroom...😂
A tin of beans with mixed cold meat from Xmas day and potatos. Ooo I'm making my self hungry. 😂
Thanks Atomic Shrimp. You just encouraged me to make a ragu and proper "bolognese".
this is my go to for lunch once a week working from home, add a bit of Worcestershire sauce and it's really quite tasty.
Since we're doing "work from home lunchtime confessions"...I've really got into those tins of chicken curry lately. I bought one for the 90s nostalgia and I keep going back. 😳
My Lord the amount of salt in those cans. You get less salt with a packet of NongShim shin ramyun black.
It might be preserving the "food" in those cans, but it ain't preserving you!
_Everything_ is a carcinogen if you consume it properly.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 hes right, literally anything.
Guilty secret. I bloody love these.
I don't mind those myself, you can get them from Poundland and they're...food. Slightly mindboggled you hadn't tried anything like those: Heinz Baked Beans with sausages are really easy to find over here, and the sausages from that have a similar frankfurter-Ish quality. They do have more flavour, though.
The heinz beans and sausages arent very good the sausages are too smooth lol. Try beans and sausages of a supermarket own brand label. The sausages are usually much better.
Where is ‘over here’? :)
I see this was 2 years ago, but he wasn't saying it wasn't common over here I don't think, he said he would pick a food this time from the UK that other cultures might find odd :)
Just for the toucan this vid is amazing
Is this what a can of "whoop ass" looks like?
The sausage looks like Vienna sausage. I don't know if that's a thing the UK, but I ate them all the time growing up.
No the sausages are usually about twice that size always fried till its brown on the outside with herbs, mòre like an unspiced german sausage
I think it may have been food at some point
Imagine an afterlife where the animals see what happened to their remains.
@@herrpez They get eaten. In the wild, or not. That's what happens.
Love these videos mate, chilled out, easy to watch, interesting and funny!
I used at have the all day breakfast as a student. It did the job.
I've had one or two of the all day breakfast for lunch at work to be honest. As you say it does the trick!
1950s: In 2018 they will have flying cars.
2018: All day Breakfast in a can.
1950's: Hmm, still quite impressive.
Atomic shrimp here we have beans it looks like beans it has a beany texture and it tastes like beans 😂
Ingot so excited. Atomic shrimp made a new video. Wait its old. I still am excited to watch it.
Why do I torture myself watching this video at 1:30 in the morning? I am getting addicted to them.
“Pet food hardware taste”, sounds lovely 😂
This was definitely weird stuff in a can.
🙏🏼
When I get back to University, I must give these a try. When I'm there I try cooking a few things, but these would be great when I'm busy working and don't have time to cook anything.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 Which carcinogens?
In the 1970's my pal at Uni had a tin of Heinz beans and sausages with a tapeworm inside, he sent it Heinz and complained, He received a large package of food from Heinz as compensation....no thanks!
I would put taste enhancer on it (like Maggi liquid seasoning) and probably be fine.
A long slosh of Worcestershire sauce, or a squirt of HP Fruity sauce puts these on another level.
I know these are kind of a running joke here in the UK, but I genuinely do enjoy them. Especially when you can find them reduced to £1.
£1.60 for a tin is a bit steep but for £1 you can't go wrong really.
Well maybe for £1 you cannot go wrong financially but I do wonder about healthwise. Especially as processed meats have preservatives in them that can have the effect of turning polyps in the colon cancerous. That is why doctors advise people to only eat such things very occasionally. I do wish that more places sold bacon without these preservatives but it is still not widely available in the U.K., & not at all in the area which I live in.
It appeared very breifly in Morrisons & then disappeared again, I do not know why. Maybe they thought it did not sell fast enough but if so, they had not allowed enough time for people to find out it was there. Supermarkets need to advertise newly available products on prominent lists near the entrance.
I’d rather have a can of anything else, like wtf is with that tiny drop of egg in those ‘’meatballs”. So strange
I think they’re lovely on a couple of pieces of toast.
I love these bad boys on heafty buttered toast.
Ayyy I'm glad you know Ashens. Would love to see some sort of collab of you two in future.
Mike - thanks for counting the mushrooms in the all day breakfast can, but I think the question on everybody's lips is "how many beans were there?"
Thanks for your efforts, brilliant review!
I've had both I liked them
Just starting this old video, interested to see what you say to this as I really like them, for what they are...
I like them too. Folded up in a sandwich or over a couple of pieces of toast.
5:45 or, as these are now known, "substantial meal"
Damn, that looks fantastic. I think here it would cost 2-3 times that much and still have only half that much meat. And more sauce than beans.
Hey, it's not really meat!
Its been a while but I remember quite liking the breakfast one :)
Yeah I like both of these. Especially in a sandwich or over a couple of pieces of toast.
Viewing this during the virus days- I would much rather have this than chef boy ar dee !
I've had these before, they're okay if you want something slightly different from your regular beans, not exactly fancy food and it doesn't pretend to be
The only thing from your weird in a can series I’ve ever tried and like you said the beans are quite good
I think hunger breaks is a name used by crosse and blackwell
Grew up eating campbell's baked beans with ground beef or hot dogs
Let’s just taste the chicken................pause..................”ooooh”. I was laughing so hard.😂😂😂
"The bacon disk"
Oh my...
I think it's just called Button.
I mean for a camping trip a few of those wouldnt be too bad for that price
If anyone is considering buying or eating one of these, I can recommend an alternative which is just as cheap (if not cheaper), almost as easy to prepare and about a hundred times nicer:
Get some cheap smoked streaky bacon and dice it (or use a packet of bacon lardons), then fry it up in a non-stick saucepan - don't add any extra oil or fat, there is plenty in the bacon. Once it is cooked, pour in a tin of baked beans and stir until the beans are heated through.
This is nice enough eaten all on its own, but can of course be put on toast to bulk the meal out some more. What makes this really useful for saving money is that the bacon adds flavour to even the cheapest supermarket own-brand tin of baked beans, so there is no need to buy the more expensive varieties. You can even get adventurous if you have more money and time to spend - add some diced chorizo sausage or salami (or even slices of peperami sticks) at the frying stage, either in addition to or instead of the bacon.
I used to love these when I was younger. Tried one recently and it was awful. The recipe hasn't changed, but I suppose I have.
The "oh no" at 08:34 sent me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I actually quite like these but I only have them a few times a year and put them on toast with Marmite and sometimes, toast, Marmite, grilled cheese then pour this on top. Useful emergency camping/festival food when it's pissing with rain and you can't be arsed to cook properly or go out for food.
Honestly could have been sick for you there. Happy to see you made more videos after those "nuggets". Thank god for the beans
Is all day breakfast a thing? Anywhere it can be found in the US?
Pieces of rubber in a can of beans - Sounds delicious
mechanically separated chicken with rib meat
Hugely surprised that you haven't had either of these before! Standard fare for hard-up Uni students or the unemployed (I was the latter for a while back in the 90s).
I've had things like this before, but I have never lived alone, so I guess some of these staples passed me by
@@AtomicShrimp Fair play. Makes sense!
I could certainly eat this if I needed to, but it just doesn't seem like I would willingly seek it out if I had better food options.
I know some people would enjoy it. It's just personal preference for me. I'm sure there are things that I enjoy that others would hate as well, so it's all good.
God when I used to eat meat these used to be a firm favourite of mine... what was I thinking???
Was just checking to see if someone else had made this comment :P
Went vegan a while back and still have good memories of them, nostalgia can be dangerous!
A night fishing essential meal that a potnoodle food of the gods haha great review mate atb matt uk
Pot noodle may have a bad rep, but it has that MSG taste, and it fills a void, depending on preparation (in my experience 5-7 mins is better than the recommended 3)
TheChipmunk2008 only the one over 3 day wont hurt now and again could be worse could be my missus s cooking lol with the ol pot noodle you have a cup too see multiple uses haha
I love the brown couch guy when he ever will throw the brown couch away i will be angryXD
I’d probably enjoy this if it was the end of the world and this was in my bunker
That sausage looks like a Vienna sausage. Nothing like a regular sausage
oh lord, no. i'm so sorry.
i can't hear mixed grill without my mind jumping to bryan and his egg mixed grill which is neither mixed nor grilled XD
Ground processed and formed meats yum.
I've had both of these and while the 'all day breakfast' is tolerable (best one on the market is Morrisons own brand, also their beans & sausages), the 'Mixed grill' is awful. Hated it so much that I gave the other tin away to the local food bank, sorry. I suppose some poor soul will be glad of it although they'll have to be desperate!
Since finding out about the Billy Sheehan band Niacin I feel like I see it everything.
IE, formed meat slurry concoction chunks in beans LOL !!
But for some reason, still good on hot buttered toast when suffering a hangover. Cup of hot sweet milky tea with it and you're good to go.
There's a few theories but the ones I like are that sugars/carbs restore our blood sugar levels, which can dip after a night on the lash, and we're naturally hardwired to always want fatty foods, but we normally resist- hangovers, however reduce our willpower, hence us tending to go for the greasy fry-up the morning after a sesh.
the sausages look like what we call in america(afaik) "vienna sausage"
Mixed Swill and All Day cackfest more like lol
I bet the it’s a laugh a minute at the Hunger Breaks recipe technician engineering lab!
I would love to see you can your own versions of these
I though you will eat canned toucan when i saw the thumbnail lol
This isn't that much of a step up from the traditional franks and beans here in the US (basically pork 'n beans with hot dogs cut up in it). Or, as we call it, beanie weenies.
I subscribed... I like your channel better than ashens... You're more straightforward and and your presentation is more entertaining and I don't understand the whole couch thing.
Whilst these are a horrendous product if i see the ones without the mushrooms I'll buy one. Theres a few more versions it just depends which shop you go in.
1:33 3.79g of salt holy poop. And they even snuck in some potassium chloride, because it just wasnt salty enough. I guess they need to make the can over four servings so they dont have to label it as poison lol
Love these but they go cold very quickly lol
Let's taste the beans....."tastes like beans.. the sausage... tastes like beans ....let's try eating the fork.
Used to have them on buttered toast, I thought they were nice.
I've had them a couple times on toast I must admit lol wouldn't say that are nice though.
He eats weird food in a can Pets edition confirmed.
All day breakfast is the best 😄
So it is just dog food pressed into different shapes with beans?. Only joking,I have had both of these, good for a quick meal but agree there is no taste apart from the beans and the 'meat' is all the same thing in different shapes.
omg ... the "chicken nuggets"... uck uck uck..
If you want another similar experience... try canned ravioli. This is one place where even Americans have one over on us Brits.... Americans get real ravioli. We get fake tomato flavoured tomato coloured tomato pasta with tomato flavoured mechanically recovered tomato flavoured beef. LOL
I mean this from recent experience. I tried canned ravioli for the first time since coming back from the states.... (over 10 yrs ago). it was horrible.
TheChipmunk2008 yeah, the really weird thing about canned ravioli is that the 'tomato' and 'beef' varieties contain the same raviolis pasta - the 'beef' variety just has some little flecks of dodgy meat mixed into the sauce
I think America has better canned/preserved food because so many of our cities and towns are designed terribly and it's a hassle to go grocery shopping more than once a week.
@@FwendlyMushwoom why would you ever go shopping more than once a week? And speak of your own town, all the ones I've been in are designed pretty well.
One can can't satisfy me, but Toucan
I dunno, man. Canned 'beans and wieners' are pretty popular here in Newfoundland, and I think that looks pretty tasty. But then, I'm generally a bad person who likes bad things.
We have beans with pork sausages in them here, too. They're usually next to these "tinned breakfast" things. I personally like them a lot more than these things in the video.
These look "slightly" better than the ones Ashens reviewed, maybe they changed the recipe. I don't remember potato in one of them when Ashens did his review.
Your brave! I don't think i could have eaten either of those.
These aren't the usual tins of terror we have come to expect from you. I wouldn't mind tucking in to that all day breakfast myself!
I wouldn't even feed that chicken nugget to my dog lol!
It is all cooked together. It will all taste the same. Kind of like caned soup! Just tastes like soup. Everything tastes the same.
Echoes of Ashens here.
Reconstituted meat, never tastes or smells the same as the real thing. The Chicken Nuggets, probably has sawdust in it....lol.
bravery award
I ate a tesco all day instant breakfast in a slab, it tasted like flight food and I went for snooze after with the aircon on and woke up in the same place. Very disappointed lol.
