Green player had 4 times the resources and he could build units and cannons, instead seemed to just sit around as Hydras ruined him. He could have even taken his fleet away and sat rest of match with Carriers producing interceptors, but instead runs into hydras and loses everything. Guy had the match and seemed to just give up.

This is a case when fastest maps can drag on when economy is irrelevant in the game.. Anyway, as a fan, id like to give some context and backstory around this match, and wonder if other viewers relate: I started playing (like many) back in high school over 10 years ago. I was part of the subgenre of players who found fun playing with friends on fastest maps, nr20, and just macro up - i never actually played 1v1's and was always just for dumb recreation. Since watching your casts (and Day9's Let's Play StarCraft), I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to learn how to play "correctly" (and switched from toss to terran). I am terrible still lol but still practicing. I haven't been able to play team matches without literally being the first guy to get rushed by 2 or more players - in this game i actually felt like id have 8 minutes to get my factories up but, no, otherwise wouldn't have went 2 fact opening. Ha i also gave up on the vulture micro because without mines, it would've still ended up 1 or 2 viltures vs 10 zealots Curious to know if other viewers started out like i did, and is also in a weird limbo place where they're practicing too, but keep getting dominated on b.net lol Fastest maps could be fun to cast but i haven't seen matches with balanced apms yet. Even the last one I played, 2 players had like 400apm and others like ~100, so balanced fastest maps might be tough to come by. Thanks again, and sorry for folks expecting a pro level match - just thought there were some interesting elements. A couple things: as Terran you have to be aggressive. Like what red did, instead of sitting and turtling he made marines & medics and attacked. Most of the time when Terran walls off and plays defense they lose because 3 on other team rush one guy and terran can't help and its 2v3. In terms of fast vulture its better if you can pull it off, but I rarely see anyone less than 250apm pull it off. Its very hard and with 50apm no way. You're better off building 3-4 rax, getting marines and attacking.

When we were kids, we would agree to fastest maps nr15 and just turtle and have fun with giant armies, but trying recently to get even over 100apm goes from being a casual game, to a legit pastime like practicing guitar etc.. I realize without commitment, the game is hard to enjoy until you can get over 100apm
I respect orange a lot because he was far more tenacious than his opponents and outlasted a 3v1. 4 full carrier waves on his main and army repelled, all while working constantly on attacking 2 players, AND winning. Tenacity wins the day!

The map Big Game Hunters (made by Blizzard) is also ridiculous. It's a normal map except the mineral patches are 50,000 resources IIRC. My friend was playing a 3v3, and it turned into a 3v1. He ran to me asked for help and I took over and destroyed the 3 with Carriers, Arbiters and scouts (as anti-air) cause they had carriers too. Edit: Clarity

Several squads of cloaked wraiths were always my answer to carrier spam. Comsat behind them to kill the observers first and then whipe them out. Worked most of the time

It's like after a certain point, the zerg player just quit using any form of strategy except that of the Soviet Union's in WW2... the tried and tested "outproduce the enemy with cheap units and wear down with attrition"...
That zerg needs lessons, I liked the early drop on white and red but his late game was absolute garbage. No rallies set for hatcheries and no use of defilers. I mean correctly used, you always want 1 defiler per group. Aka 11 units 1 defiler. Also hot keying defilers makes it easier. Also did anyone notice hydra legs were never upgraded? As a zerg you cant lose your main unless it was rushed by mutas, scouts, wraiths, and drops. But to actually let carriers go in and slowly decide to attack his main while in his base for 3 minutes before it is targeted. How did this happen? Holy crap lol, just 2 plagues a dark swarm for hydras and a dark swarm on your main. Doing this causes carriers to run away or in his situation destroy them before ever losing main. I hate how his sunken line and spore defense was non existent. If he had around 15-20 spores around main, 2x plague on all carriers would of been enough to wipe them out even if you didnt target attack hydras. This was painful, I think purple would beat the zerg player 1v1. I am not even kidding, at least he had talk and strategy skills. I mean if you are going to mass hydras at least rally point and have at least 25-35 hatcheries for optimal macro. His apm was laughable, I can play at 70 apm and still be more aggressive on unit macro. If you are going to send and use a command. Then do this really build by either clicking each hatchery s then h on each or drag and click h on larva. With it being rallied they will always move out the way. You can repeat this step when you get more larva. Also shift f3 the spot you rallied and f2 for hatcheries. This will kinda capture a shot that when u press f2-f4 it goes back to saved screen image. Try to get as much hatcheries in the shot as you can. That way when you attack with a command and use your defilers for dark swarm. You can hit f2 build more hydras, go back to units attack to check on your attack. Move hydras and such and use more dark swarms. Then hit f2 when you need more units. Ri se repeat. Infact just use f2 f2 mass lings hydras a d send them by out marching your opponent. -_____- Girl I dated played starcraft and could go 10-0 on all of them 1v1 and I could beat her by scv rushing. Yeah this is disappointing. I like high level play with proper analysis. And like I said, some rush games would be interesting, a series of quick games with analysis of offense and defense strategies for both players, potential build orders etc. Anyway, thank you for the good work Falcon. Love the BW remastered commentated content, it's pretty rare nowadays.
Year-old video sure but I just thought of something hilarious and silly that you should do for April Fool's next year: Get a gameplay vid of some completely different game. Maybe even a different genre like an FPS. But don't shoutcast it like you know what game it is. Try to shoutcast the entire game with nothing but very confused and strained analogies to StarCraft units. Like, if there happens to be human soldiers in the game then keep calling them Terran Marines and such, and judge the mission objective structure as though it was a strategy actively being done by a StarCraft player. This comment is probably dumb and I'm very sick today and April Fool's is a long ways away but this would be absolutely hilarious and I think you could do it perfectly if you really commit. I feel like protoss is usually op on this map. I usually just start with cannons at the front the I build a pylon wall with a cannon every other one with gateways towards the entrance and Stargates on the opposite end. Oh and I can squeeze buildings like observatory between the pylon and the Stargate. I just mass dragoons then carriers though. That wouldn't work against players like orange probably would need reavers for that guy.
My first thought after watching was if either went reaver drop it would have ended the game. You can't bust thru a zerg with sunken and lurkers in the front without great storm micro but you can easily reaver drop him
Love this kinds of game unpredictable. commonly Tos go for Reavers and Templars if they coordinated like 1 go for carrier and other go for reaver arbiter and some archons Zerg surely is in trouble some of the advantage of Zerg is that they reproduce faster then other races
Didn't Protoss had like more than 3 different units? They kept making guardians and carriers to the very end, the lack of high templar really hurts too.
A) purple knew he was surrounded. Instead of building depots in a non wall he needed to build bunkers for marines to support vultures B) his apm isn't even half high enough to go fast vultures. He isn't fast enough to micro them and vultures that sit are shit compared to vultures who kite but you can't kite with 66 apm C) where TF was his teammates to help!
So that was the swarm's strategy to invade Aiur basically

There was a very brief moment where red’s medics were healing zealots just before yellow left.
It's just painful to see Pantro waste all his opportunities to end everything quickly... anyway, kudos to him for holding off 2 protoss armies

B) his apm isn't even half high enough to go fast vultures. He isn't fast enough to micro them and vultures that sit are shit compared to vultures who kite but you can't kite with 66 apm
