LongShot cinematography and the sound of a Merlin V12... I could watch this all day man. Seriously, I'd love to see some more warbird content given how beautifully you show the aircraft with the external cameras. The Spitfire is just gorgeous.
This reminds me of Sparrows vs. Hawks. Here in Texas, hawks will try to raid smaller birds nests for a meal. The Sparrows, Jays & Mockingbirds will dogfight a much more deadly opponent to drive the Hawk away. I love your content, keep flying LS!!
I'm with the guy who said 'Zero.' Add one rule to these fights: if a jet with thrust vectoring gets picked, the opponent can fly an A6M2, or a Niki, N1K2. I'm actually curious to see what a fighter with lightning roll rate like an F4U or Fw 190A would fare. In any case, very cool.
Well Longshot, DCS have really got the sound of those Warbirds so right. One of the most iconic sounds is that Merlin engine. I think the best of your oponent aircraft had to be the F-22.
Great matchups. Thanks, LongShot! I love seeing the WWI and WWII content now and then. The sound of that Spit flying by was just beautiful, and the air combat is different when there are no fire and forget weapons. 😀
There were instances when aerobatic planes were escaping borders covered by MiG-21 fighters. But fighting is another level. If he is skilled pilot he has always the choice of fight and can run away any time and return from high altitude.
12:46 - "That was fun...this is really fun. I love warbirds, man!" *We agree! Thanks!* P.S. Next time you fly a Spit, show off your cinematography skills as you land her? That would be a treat, both sight and sound!
That was a very good video but the issue with both of you is when it comes to duel fights reversing the Turn means giving the other opponent a position for shooting Example is when you are against a TVC Suhkoi And the same for the MiG-29 that our guy flew with And all you need to do is to pull in 1 turning direction and keep pulling inside But GG at the end long shot
@@jeremygair4007 the big problem is the drag, you can do one hard maneuver , (cobra) but you can't recover to fast to dodge the next maneuver of the other plane, amd if ypu are fighting against a WW2 plane, it will get you six very fast at low speed. the only thing you can do is climb away from him. there is a videos that you can see the raptor doing formation with a mustang, and it struggles a bit following it and there are flying like 250 knots, imagine 150 knots? jet planes doesn't has any change below 230/250 knots against a ww2 plane in the horizontal, in reality. are to light, the wing area is to low, can turn in a dime, you need to use vertical to catch them
@CarlosMoreno-dq3kg so this is how this goes down IRL. Boom and zoom. That spitfire, will never get a shot. And it will never climb fast enough. The ones that survive the missiles. But ya, in a warbird or jet fighter, bleed your speed at the wrong time. Die. So it goes for the jet, so it goes for the spitfire. Also I've seen the raptor and P 51 flying formation. No, it was not struggling to keep up, ever.
You should fly in old russian fighters vs western modern fighters in order to show what may become if we apply the same ''tactics'' seen with the T50s and earlier tanks used in some current world event...
Yeah, well, having a ceiling limit for the fighters has probably the same effect as cutting off the fighters wings. Obviously that´s the only way to have a entertaining video in the end. So I get the idea for this rule. Reality would be: Fighter goes straight up, comes back down... The End. So the better title would have been: How A WWII Fighter Will Do Against Modern Fighters, If The Modern Fighter Is Not Allowed To Use Its Capabilities?
I wonder. Can your little plane fly through the legs of the Eiffel Tower and maybe get a ground kill if his big jet tries to follow? At least it'd get him off of your six.
Every video of jets vs war birds there is always handicaps put on the jets to make it a fair fight. That completely ruins the point of how they would fair against jets.

Can we do a video, U vs Growling Sidewinder, with you in a Su-57, and him in a F22?
The beautiful engine note of the Rolls Royce Merlin is recreated on DCS so accurately. Another great show LS. Thank you.
I was thinking the same thing - they really did do an excellent job.

Can you do another 2 morons video with growling sidewinder? Please
We will, no worrie
@@LongShotChannel thanks man.
They just did one not too long ago 😅
@@cj41079 GS never posted it. The last on he did was 3yr ago
@@OJAVIATION.K that's a negative, he did one only the other week
I always appreciate your cinematography. Great points of view, great flying, great video!
My all-time favourite plane fared quite well against much newer machines. I'm impressed!
Picked the best possible plane for these engagements imo. Nice work

Always dig the warbird content, vs. moderns or WWII missions or whatever!

I would love to see some more warbird content on your channel!
I love these sort of 'time travel' matchups.
That Paris map is gorgeous!
I wish you and GS collaborated more often. Y’all have great chemistry.
LS that was very cool and unique. I didn't think it would be like this. So much to learn about dogfighting aerodynamics. Thanks!
Guy in the jet really picked the wrong tactics, warbird has zero chance against a a jet in energy 2 circle flow
LONSHOT Remember you 2v1 videos you were doing? How about you in the SU-30 vs 2 human pilots in their choice of Warbirds? 👀
There were instances when aerobatic planes were escaping borders covered by MiG-21 fighters. But fighting is another level. If he is skilled pilot he has always the choice of fight and can run away any time and return from high altitude.
It’s not always the size of the dog in the fight, but the fight in the dog
More warbirds please.
Zero vs F-14
"Splash the Zeros"
The citizens of Paris would like to make a complaint about your disposal of aircraft all over their beautiful city. 😅

Over the radio: "Control, come in! I have engaged a hostile space ship!!"
That thrust vectoring in the first fight was insane! 30mm didn’t help either lol. That Spitfire might be the perfect looking and sounding plane.
In that round against the A-10 that engine cover is hot as the merlin engine
Great video! Loved the camera views!

That was interesting. I'd like to see a Corsair against some modern aircraft.
Spitfire pilot here.... Our old prop planes are not to be underestimated 😂😂
The Supermarine Spitfire, still fearsome ! 😃 👍
"F22...i should just ditch".. awesome😂
do a zero against a tomcat?
Now we know what started the fire in Notre Dame.
Guy looses one time and pulls out a Raptor, safe to say he took that L personally
That was real fun, thank you very much abd have a great day!
Nice video Longshot!
the Spitfire can pull Instantaneous turn of 6 Gs at 220 knots, this is imposible for any jet plane
You know there's going to be a slough of pilots out there that'll say otherwise.
Same problem as the cobra though

That was great fun! Nice!
DCS needs a Corsair. That's about the only thing that can manage those MIGS and Sukhoi's.
Future video: "Hey everyone, welcome back to another video, this time we're going to be going up against two F-14s in the Wright Flyer..."
Excellent flying skills demonstrated there!
It goes to show how dangerous these beautiful old aircraft are when maneuvering at low speed.
Like a lot of the comments here, you sometimes forget how Goddamn beautiful the Spitfire was/is.
now do it against drones
Absolute brilliant video this
History reminds us. An airplane of its time that did an extraordinary job. In your hands too.
Great video LS!
Thank you
Modern fighters are all cool and s#!+ but warbirds are giving me goosebumps
More of these please!

Unfortunately for the warbirds, IRL, that artificial altitude ceiling, it will not apply.
IRL, the opponents wouldn't hesitate to use missiles either. 🙂 The Spitfire would never even see the agent of its defeat.
IRL what are the chances of these fights ever happening? 🤣
MORE, MORE PLEASE
Very entertaining
You should've taken Mk9
Try the Bf109
Spitfire, still the best fighter of all time.
