    WELL YOU SEE BROTHER, I GOTTA SAY THAT MAKI ITOH COSPLAY WAS VERY GOOD! BUT NOT ONLY THAT I LEARNED SO MUCH ABOUT BLUE-MAGE LORE THANKS TO YOU ! I HOPE TO SEE MORE OF YOUR CONTENT IN THE FUTURE AND THAT YOU CONTINUE TO FLOURISH!

    I’m going to imagine that Martyn was summoned to the First as a Warrior of Light the same way Hildibrand was and took his limited time there to learn some new tricks.

    never made the connection that the carnivale is like a wrestling promotion! probably because i hadnt gotten past the heavensward chunk before watching this video haha. Loved the video!

    I *adore* the Blue Mage plotline, the fun it has with obscure or oddball cameos which make sense thematically for its tone and eclectic game-breaking job build, and Martyn is one of my favorite minor NPCs, especially for having that "loser with his heart in the right place who is also scarily competent but such a failure otherwise that you don't at first believe it" ... but damn if I don't hate how the story is locked behind very difficult solo duties that you can't do easier versions of. It's another thing that makes this limited job unique to XIV, but I wish there was a normal and 'savage' version of the cap fights.

      The fights aren't too bad, the struggle is really that you're the only weak link to improve, and there's a LOT of ways to 'improve' at Blue Mage.

    I was excited when I saw this come up and thankfully it's as long as my break at work! Thank you for providing some footage and insight to the story quests, especially that GoGo gag. I'm too lazy to level BLU myself so it was nice hearing about how the story works... And the possibly canonity of Martyn being a powerful mage. I also liked your Mika cosplay! I'll be honest, I never drew the dots to the pro wrestling comparison of BLU until your video, before I just kept to mind the "traveling stage magician", but it makes so much sense now when I realize they're both from Carnival shows...

      The JoJo gag struck me as I was getting the footage, and I couldn't not. I'm just happy it came together as well as it did!

    It will never happen, but Martyn would be the PERFECT trust partner. As a blue mage he's already an all rounder style, and I'm sure he'd love some of the extra gil from doing it.

    I think my favorite bit early on is the fact that Azulmagia is literally just "Blue Magic" in spanish

      In Japanese he's called 'Apocalypse', which is... a bit less on-the-nose.

    yes, I hope to see you soon again, I enjoy your videos. Also does this soft confirm that Martin is one of the nameless adventurers that the WOL summons? Since the Azem stone canonizes the duty finder aspect of an MMO.

      That explains the primals, but maybe not the First spells!

    Since none of it is voiced anyway it would be cool if they went back and updated Martyn’s text so that a few of his mentions of the new world use the endonym

    • @EinDose
      @EinDose  5 месяцев назад +1

      That would be good, but I also feel like Martyn would ABSOLUTELY be someone still using the wrong name.

    It's funny to think about how under different circumstances Martyn might of gotten a similar reputation to many other legendary figures who pioneered different job arts, but since we know him, we get exposed to his less than impressive sides fairly often. Makes me wonder how people felt about famous historical job figures before they got famous. Like what did Shatotto's peers think of her before she invented Black Magic?

    Whoo! I've been waiting for this! I love Martyn. Pure of heart, dumb of ass, I'm rooting for him at any point that I'm not actively trying to beat him upside the head for being an idiot. At least the boy tries to replace his divot. Even ignoring the primal spells, that we can say he got from a totem if we want to under sell him, he's surprisingly effective, though I guess that's what you want in a jobber. Royse should treat him better, just because he doesn't understand his worth, doesn't mean he shouldn't be paid it. If we were a bigger guild he's at least have something akin to Union support protecting him. Also given the assertion that he's getting spells from the first, he's also personally offended Beq Lug, possibly twice, and I would love to see what happens when she finds out we know him.
    I wish the Whalaqee got more spot light over the rest of the story, since it's their art, but it would be hard to justify Martyn's endless parade of screwing up if there were some actual experts on hand. There's always hope for DT, and you can actually infer some nifty things about them from their totem spells. Given their magical power source they unsurprisingly deal with voidsent fairly often, and possibly worshiped one as a god before killing it and taking it's power, though it could have been another tribe they simply knew about. For any lore nerds out there give your spell book a read, it's almost a fishing log.
    The blue mage's story proper is just wall to wall fun. I know a little bit about wrestling, enough to at least see the parody, and recognize the dynamics at play, and it never fails to make me laugh. Given ffxiv's love for series deep cuts, it's nice that not all of them have to pop up in Hildibrand, letting a lot of the sillier, or note worthy, but not important guys show up here instead. I think ShB's section is my favorite, even if it's a missed opportunity not to go to the first and find some unholy blue magic ring has set up there as a Eulemoran blood sport. At least it's the first time I got an actual laugh out of Trachtoum, rather than a grudging sigh.
    Thank you for the good work as always, and as a brief aside, your hair is wonderful.

    Wow, Blue Mage quests really have it out for male Roegadyn huh

    • @EinDose
      @EinDose  5 месяцев назад +2

      ...now that you mention it, yeah. But I think it might be because their general statue makes it easy to buy as the guy inside a boss-shaped costume. You're not gonna buy that a female au ra is inside the Azulmagia outfit.

    I am fully 100% expecting martin to whip out some endsinger spells later. Or something equally nonsensical.

    If I had a nickel for every time a male roegadyn was the antagonist of a blue mage questline, I'd have 3 nickels (4 if you count mr leviabetus). Which isn't a lot, but it's kinda racist that it's happened that many times in a row

    • @EinDose
      @EinDose  5 месяцев назад

      Technically you're at four anyway, thanks to both Fyrgeiss AND Siegfried. As mentioned in another ocmment, though, I think it's because male roegadyn really fit the frame of the bosses we're fighting.
