The bucket strategy makes no sense if you have a pension and are willing to adjust your lifestyle accordingly during a downturn and actually need to access your TSP. At least that is my opinion.
I have about 3 years to retire at 57. I will get my pension and supplement. I plan to get a part-time job at the airlines so l can continue to travel but for nearly free. I understand that my supplement will probably be reduced. My question is if you don’t need any money from your TSP/IRA would you still the majority in the stock markets after retirement. I have had 90 percent of my TSP invested in the C fund and then the C and S funds for over 30 years. I plan to keep it the same after l retire.
