Can you vouch for the XD-15 surviving rough terrain? I burned through a set of “hybrid ceramic” bearings in my BB and was advised the balls damaged the outer race with using them in a gravel bike and giving the bike some hammer offroad. Spoke to the endurobearings guys at ‘Ard Rock and they assured me these are designed with materials to counter this and wonder if it’s the truth in practice!
Well I've had no issues as of yet and have used the Xd 15 for Atlas Mountain race, The accursed race, the Torino Nice trip and consistently in my gravel bike for the past 18months without issue. They seem much more resilient than other brands I've used, gave up with Ceramic Speed bearings in gravel wheels for exactly the reason you highlighted, but Enduro bearings have proved much more resilient so far.
@@joshibbettappreciate that, think I will invest when the time comes to replace the bearings I have in at the moment. Keen to do the Torino Nice ride at some point after seeing your video!
Thanks for posting - this tour looks great! what a beautiful, peaceful part of the world - I did Geneva to Nice 'Route de Grande Alpes', but there were so many motorbiks whizzing past. Hey can you clarify what battery you are charging up from the dynamo? Is it a special dynamo-compatible one? Cheers! Oliver
The Mason looks like it's designed to carry a lot of kit. Being a strong rider, I guess you can cope with that much weight, and it's not so bad if you're doing a leisure trip ,not a race. Just wondering, is there a small tent on the market that is as light as a bivvy(with a single pole). My bivvy experience in July was so unpleasant, I now don't sleep at all until I can find a pub or hotel to stay at. At least in a tent you dont end up soaking wet from condensation and the fabric is away from your body.
XT cranks with a wide Q factor is not going well with my knees after hours in the saddle. Does this not bother you to looking at your trans Europe problems?
Are the tailfin front packs the 10 or 5 liter? Looks like the 10 but I’m not sure. I would like to put these on my Bokeh (2), bit the mount on the fork are angled towards the wheel. Ortlieb makes small angled converter thingies but Im not sure it will work ok.
Great stuff man. I have similar style with setups so always love checking in and see what you are like and not right now. Always appreciate it.

Plenty of motorbikes on this route at times unfortunately. I just used the Dynamo to charge my gps and power my lights

Look at the zpacks plex solo lite

I actually prefer a wider Q factor, the TCR knee issues were unrelated to Q factor, just a few other things

These are the 10litre packs
I wonder why they call the continental race king a 2.2" tire if it measures to ~2.1"
Cassette 11-46 or 11-48? Did not know shimano 11spd went to 48. Cheers
It’s a 48 hence using the mtb rear mech
@@joshibbett now I’m jealous :)
Are the proven dynamo wheels released as yet? I cant find them on thr Hunt website.....
They are launched next week
I enjoy your content, but a bit less 'to be honest' wouldn't hurt.
