I keep listening to this. It’s 2 AM in Chicago. Well, one more time ..... For today. Or few more times......Nobody has ever played this piece better. Nobody. Ever. Her genius shines thru and thru.
Such hands! Such a mind! Such a soul! And mind you at 78 years old! Those hands move as they did at 16, and from then til now no hands have rivaled them! We are indeed blessed to hear this as she nearly died from two bouts of cancer! What a miracle you're hearing!
Martha Argerich born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 5 June 1941 is an Argentine-Swiss classical concert pianist. She is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of all time. She will celebrate her 80th birthday on June 5, 2021
Really touched my heart. As she’s gone through her life playing piano and she’s getting older, she plays with the humble heart of a human being with a voice. She is happy and age has not defied that and won’t until her last day, she is a pianist first and foremost ♥️
One of the early 60's young and brilliiant pianists from Argentina. Had a really rough go with aggressive skin cancer and was treated by world famous cancer surgeon in Santa Monica, CA. Glad she is still here and making the world a better place with her talent and warmth. Widmung always brings joy and tears to me since I heard it played on UCAL Schoenberg stage in 1970.
Just look at how young her arms, hands and fingers look, she was 78 there! Means that we still have several years of Martha Argerich in concert, fortunately! Long live to her!!
Thank you so much for this upload! This is the best rendition of Widmung by the Goddess. The new Steinway at this venue did full justice to this gorgeous “Dedication”….
Not since Van Cliburn's historic 1958 Concert in Moscow, has Widmung been played with such feeling and impeccable taste. I believe Martha is among the very greatest pianists of all time.
I think Kissin's interpretation is too neat and delicate... I prefer interpretations with a sense of youthful exuberance as Martha did.@@roimanthabah9513
One feels privileged to inhabit the same planet as an artist such as this. My errant former Dutch partner's father was a pupil of hers. That's as far as my connection goes. I know little of Martha's private life, but I do so hope she enjoys a good one; such a genius deserves it.
I don't know which was more beautiful.... Miss Argrich (always so wonderfully active), the music (breathtaking and pulsing), or the grand Steinway (such a masterpiece)..... if I have to vote , I'd be for the music, which wins by lightyears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A superb rendition of this masterpiece. It is always interesting to compare & contrast how some pianists caress the keyboard [as in this performance-not to forget Horowitz of course]] as others adopt a somewhat more "aggressive" approach as they attack it.
Virtuosa y exsimio Maestra. Cuando ven a Uruguay la veré. Lo deseo con el alma. Ídola pianística. No sé si podre conocerla personalmente.
One feels honoured and humbled to inhabit the same planet of this true musical genius. That's what I think! She gives one faith.
I keep listening to this. It’s 2 AM in Chicago. Well, one more time ..... For today. Or few more times......Nobody has ever played this piece better. Nobody. Ever. Her genius shines thru and thru.
I don't know how many times I have watched this video now.. And evertime it feels like im being transported into another world.
One can hear the voice singing. What a marvelous interpretation: the genius of Argerich.

Emocionante.... 🥺🥺🥺

The combination of African, Latino, and European musical traditions has produced truly exceptional pianitst including Novaes, Arrau, and Argerich.

The one and only Martha. Simply amazing
Martha Argerich - is a world - class pianist, and plays this piece perfectly, her poetic imagination are fascinating - she is phenomenal !

The best in pianoforte performance, showing such huge amounts of natural talent & ability, which she exudes with incredible ease as well as perfection.
I love the “Ave Maria” passage at the very end.
Martha Argerich is one of the greatest pianist of the world for so many decades....
Spettacolo!!!!
😢 Heavenly beautiful
I got to know this piece by attending two of her concerts in Córdoba, Argentina, last year.
Unforgettable and nostalgic.
Just look at how young her arms, hands and fingers look, she was 78 there! Means that we still have several years of Martha Argerich in concert, fortunately! Long live to her!!
So beautiful 🥺🥲 thanks so much Martha for the interpretation, Clara for the inspiration, Schumann and Liszt for having heard this music.
Thank you so much for this upload! This is the best rendition of Widmung by the Goddess. The new Steinway at this venue did full justice to this gorgeous “Dedication”….
It’s hard to imagine that there are people in this world with such beautiful music inside them.
Not since Van Cliburn's historic 1958 Concert in Moscow, has Widmung been played with such feeling and impeccable taste. I believe Martha is among the very greatest pianists of all time.
no doubt
The Van Cliburn is however, unsurpassed
As far as I am concerned, (in my life of 63 years) there is nobody better, nor even close.... I just love her emotion!
No doubt about it...
@@user-jx3jp3gb4x indescribably beautiful!
She makes it look so easy. Much controlled emotion.
Absolutely right. Horowitz used to say that “music is a controlled emotion”.
I can't believe I have the fortune of witnessing her live in concert next year. This will for sure be one of the most memorable moments of my life
And she is 78 years old in this video. Unbelievable 🌹
She is amazing...!!!
You mean 78 y young ?
This is her God given gift, ask her to cook scramble egg, she will burn it!
@@rothschildianum No, this is a life of dedication, study and practice. Leave that imaginary entity out of it. It's her own merit.
now 82
Her playing always seems so effortless and natural.
Absolutely amazing! Best living female classical pianist. There would only be one Martha Argerich 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I cant stop listen Martha playing Windmung....
I cant.... I cant...
Please help !!!!
Go listen to Yundi Li's version instead. I'm a fan of Martha but man this version is terrible compared to other greats
@@a23oj28 and? Do you own youtube? No one asked you to reply back to me but you did either way lmao the hypocrisy in your statement 🤡
A great talent. This piece is just beautiful.
Listening to this during 2020 quarantine is such a relief, thank you Martha.
What a pleasure and honor to hear.
God - this is by far the best interpretation of Schumanns Widmung. I am totally addicted to this video! :D
Schumann pouring his heart out---I love his music so much!
Evgeny Kissin performed it well too
I think Kissin's interpretation is too neat and delicate... I prefer interpretations with a sense of youthful exuberance as Martha did.@@roimanthabah9513
I LOVE YOU MARTHA . GOD WILL BLESS YOU.
I don't know whether there is a god, but if there is one, he/she has already blessed her.
Martha truly brings life to the notes, as a Widmung to music.
Io c'ero quella sera, a Torino! L'unica, la sola, la meravigliosa Martha Argerich ❤
Martha you will never grow old, young at heart till your dying day!! 💓
This is the most beautiful love song I have heard bravo Martha
Like most things I’m life there are levels. This ladies and gentleman is as high as levels get.
What a beautiful and lyrical performance, thank you for posting :)
Absolutely amazing!!! My favourite female classical pianist !
Lovely. A gentler dedication than many I have heard. Thank you
What a wonderful and special Person. U just love her what she portraits and her real deep self.
Just wanted to hear some Scarlatti, didn't expect this moment of perfection and incredible skills a human is able to reach. Pure enjoyment ❤️
I love this performance. I think it’s way better than her earlier recording that I have heard. Such a great command over color!
A maior pianista da atualidade. Maravilhosa!!!
Absolutely stunningly beautiful.
Beautiful, Just Beautiful Lady~!!!! That's all I can say. Thank You Soooooooo Much ~!!!!!!
Such a superb and insightful musician.
What a pianist! Such an artist! No one equal to her anywhere!
She’s brilliant-an other worldly melding of intellect, skill, instinct, and spirit. She simply has no equal.
Perfectly stated!! 👍🏻👍🏻
I love the way she sits and gets straight into it👏👏👍👍

Wonderful pianist! Extraordinary even at 78!

Watching her playing live this masterpiece in Torino 6 year ago has been an honour.
A superb rendition of this masterpiece. It is always interesting to compare & contrast how some pianists caress the keyboard [as in this performance-not to forget Horowitz of course]] as others adopt a somewhat more "aggressive" approach as they attack it.
Never heard such a mesmerizing version before! Thank you
Thank you for the upload, Max!
I am speechless. Beautiful.
Martha argerich have the warmest sound ever😊 Thanks for shering
I can't think of a thing I would change in this performance.
Great, Max.....Mil gracias from México!

Did she recently start performing this? She is the only true goddess of the piano. Holy crap. She is one those people who inspires you to keep going.
Nahre Sol pointed me here. And a thank you to her for doing that!
A music that combines her two adored composers.. Schumann and Liszt, the one she would love to have met hehe ;-)
Beautiful playing! I love the natural flow. It's really Schumann, with poetry, not too pumped up.
Excelente su música ♥️
I thought no one could play this better than Van Cliburn but
That was before i heard great Martha play it.
It's so beautiful❤ A true masterpiece
What a great great pity that Martha doesn't play recitals any longer.
If she did, It would be an immense enrichment for us all.
Her technique is still in such good shape at her age. This is pretty rare.
What beautiful !
EXCELLENT!
MARTHA ARGERICH
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤....
.... moved to tears........🙏🙏🙏...
It is one of my favorite songs. Thank you☺️👍
What fingers . Perfect
Cant stop listen !!!!!
Argerich has gotten old a lot, but she remains very much alive. I like the beautiful sound of the piano.
Never heard it before. Wonderful discovery
Very beautiful. Yeol Eum Son has a wonderful version too
Virtuosa y exsimio Maestra. Cuando ven a Uruguay la veré. Lo deseo con el alma. Ídola pianística. No sé si podre conocerla personalmente.

I like how she plays the music , congratulations 😊
Martha única…. La mejor !!!!!!!!
Simply beautiful!
Beautifully done.
She's simply one of the best piano players alive..
