I simply throw all gear and the TRAK in my big bath tube and clean with water. Them let it all dry. Some cleaning of the stain if is dry and thats it. In fact one should see that it was in rough condition having had lots of fun 😅
Hi! haha yes I've received it. I have paddled with it quite a few times already and will make a review video of it after a few more times. I did a speed test and will share it soon!
@@Fishaholicboy Thats so awesome!! I really enjoy hearing your take on things. Have you taken it in rough water or surf? I've been wondering about stronger attachments for mounting a camera. I picked up the GoPro Swivel mount specifically to use with the Trak, but I havent been able to try it out yet to test it. I like your idea with the Snap mounts - I'll have to look into those. Also, I'm curious to know how you wash the salt off. I have a camp shower hose, but I'm thinking of looking into a stronger battery powered power washer. I had to replace my Kalleq paddle from salt damage (it till works, it's just welded together now, so it's difficult to pack😂). Lastly, have you rolled it yet?!! I think it rolls rather well - though I have not rolled it packed up with weight in it. Excited to hear your thoughts and looking forward to your next video.
I haven’t taken it to surf or rough waters yet.. will try the next few goes. I really like the versatility of the snapmount. Just make sure you attach it to the deck lines to be sure. It’s a shame to hear about your kalleq but as long as it works 😉 I did roll the Trak but I just tried once as I was with friends and didn’t want to slow anyone down with my practices. I will try more rolling later down the track (no pun intended). I was also fortunate enough to find a really good kayaking facility and they have hoses everywhere.. so I can clean everything off when I’m done. I just wipe things down and let it sit in the sun and also have the breeze to dry it off. Love to see your videos of the Trak!
@@Fishaholicboy I hope to have some videos of the Trak soon! I got the Trak primarily for surf and to use it to paddling trips abroad. I love travelling so to able to pack it as a checked luggage bag is incredible. I'll be taking a series of sea kayaking courses this summer and plan to use the Trak for much of it. Also, do you think there's a significant difference in the Kalleq and the Akiak paddles? I wonder if its just the slight weight difference or if there's actually a different feeling in the hands.
@@cre8iveworks there’s actual different feelings in the hands.. and also the weight. Once you use the Kalleq for the day, the Akiak feels heavier. But at the same time, I love them both. I’ve been using the Ipik recently as I really prefer the soft shoulders.. I suppose it is all personal preference
Got the version 1, 2nd hand, great kayak. It's much easier to put The Bow section into the skin first and get it well seated, before adding the stern section second ! Also to get the last bit of the keder to slide in, put extra pressure from the 2 side pumps, let off afterwards, then just about 2 or 3 pumps on the sides, adjust keel pump to get desired rocker.
I was looking at this one but I will stick with the Pakayak :) Great video though, very well done, I would say the best video I have seen on setting this one up thank you :)
That is, for sure, an interesting concept. Great for anyone who manages to take their time and go though the extensive assembling process. Definitely looking forward to your review of the boat on the water!
I finally got mine! Thanks for this in-depth video! Given the lack of Trak assembly videos out there, I'm sure this will be a go-to reference for many others. Cheers!
Thanks for the most close-up detail views of the Trak and its components anywhere on RUclips. It will have been a year long wait for mine next month but I’m happy to have received confirmation from Trak that mine is included in those they will be delivering in May. Assuming the setup gets easier the more times you do it. I guess if you see setup and take-down as part of the paddling experience, it’s probably quite satisfying. Can you share the spec on the magnet camera mounts?
Completely agree with you! Kayaking includes the entire process and cleaning being a big part of it. I bet you can't wait to receive yours. Here is the link on Amazon for the Snapmounts - amzn.to/49Cv3IQ I've been using Snapmounts for years. I know there are other brands out there now at significantly lower prices. good quality assembly video. I know there must be amazing handling characteristics for TRAK 2.0 foldable kayak, but I believe simple pump up quality inflatable will see water lot more than this kayak. I wonder if I can get it set up in about 15 min it can be something I would look into as I can see that's a quality product.
I also had the Pakayak before, now I do prefer the Trak in all aspects. I hope you enjoy it. Some notes; It's way easier to put in the blue bow frame first, then the stern. I'm surprised you didn't do that intuitively. You also deviate a bit from the manual setup, specifically the order of jack installation and coming. I can see that adding the coming after you 'pressurised' the frame might not put it in the correct pin position anymore. Pumping the jacks up rather random than side, then center might lead to unnecessary and disproportional stress on the frame especially on setup on uneven ground. I also keep the hoses of the floaters outside, when I drop the boat into cold water, their pressure sometimes drop quite a bit, so I have to add a bit. If you struggle to close the zipper you may want to check the manual again. It's a topic there.
Thanks for the tip! I will need to watch the instructions again so make it smoother. I really enjoy the Trak and it is a different experience to the Pakayak for sure. I am sure I'll have many great trips with the Trak!
You know I watch all your videos and love your channel (You know what's coming now) BUT OMG Why would anyone want this boat. What a bloody nightmare that looked as you put it together. I wouldn't want one even if I was offed a free one life's to short. Now all that being said once the jigsaw puzzle is ready it does look like a great yak and I bet it's fantastic to paddle and I hope you get many year of fun on the water with it. Great video as now people who watch this can really see how to put it together unlike most video that just do a jump shot.
Haha I love your comment. My friends also said something very similar about the set up. I wanted to show a full set up video because as you mentioned, most of the other videos out there didn't show the full extent of the set up. On a separate note, I really am enjoying the Trak 2.0 and I think I can learn lots from it. The cleaning is the most time consuming part which I didn't even show yet. I will make a review video later once I use the Trak a few more times. Really appreciate the support that you watch every video of mine!!!
@@evanm4995 I was able to test both the Pakayak and the Trak (old version) and the difference is actually quite big. The Trak performs much better, it's much lighter and more versatile with the ability to control the rocker. Pakayak pushes a bit of water at the bow due to how it has to be constructed in order to do the whole Russian doll thing. The person who owns the Trak was also able to assemble it in about 8 minutes while talking to me. He said once you get to a point where you are putting it together without thinking about it then the assembly is a non-issue.
@@Fishaholicboy I was shocked to see the new lighter model. I know you were hoping that the company would make a smaller version of the Pakayak. @@evanm4995 If you kayak by yourself, I would get the lighter version.. I had trouble moving the kayak by myself with the heavier version. One trick was to assemble the two halves and then buckle the two halves right by the shore so you don't need to carry it far. That's always an option!

It looks a lot more trouble than the Pakayak, and now the Pakayak is even lighter and cheaper than this one I think it's a hard sell for this Trak 2.0 now
It definitely takes longer than the Pakayak. The Trak has its own benefits too so it depends what kind of kayak someone wants. The light Pakayak is definitely attractive
That is an awful lot more palaver than the Pakayak and it is a lot more expensive. You also lose the storage compartments. I am not convinced the pros outweigh the cons.
U use the flotation bags as storage compartments. They re big. You can us up whole volume of boat that way. This will not compromise flotating function.
@@christianherzinger6653 But the flotation bags were put in near the start of the construction of the kayak. Would you even be able to get them out once you reach your destination?
