You'll get used to it. A couple things. Your cockpit angles can be saved if you're too far forward etc.. and map the VR zoom button. The other one is like a really far zoom but I don't use it much. Looking forward to see you try them in more aircraft. Would be cool to see a 1v1 multi role F-14 fight (2v2). That's when vr is sooo fun! haha

I think it's "muscle memory" for the most part, and then field of view as secondary factor. You've been doing this so much, so often, on a 2D screen, i bet your brain is wired to couple your screen cues to your motoric actions, and it takes some time to unlearn that. Also, on a flat screen, you have a dynamic field of view, essentially a mantis like 360 vision if you so desire. Couple that with the different set of neck motion required to look around then you have in a true 3D environment/VR, and your entire reference system is scrambled (most likely).
I've had a chance to experiment with VR for a couple of months during lockdown (i had to return the device after that - it wasn't mine), and it was an eye opener. The ability to measure distance and closure was such a boost, i stopped using radar lock to shoot at bandits. Just following the tracer stream and small visual cues like the collimated gunsights on the warbirds and the crosshair on the F-14 (without a lock) was usually enough.
But true, as far as pixel density and field of view are at stake, the VR has a few more steps to make, in order to have the clarity of 2D screens or Mk1 eyeballs.

yup I also upgraded my cpu and motherboard because of VR, I spent weeks in a tug of war with my settings downloading XR Tool Kit and trying everything. Lowering the settings to get better frame rate and I get more ghosting and blurriness, raise the settings to fix the ghosting and I lose the frames and gets choppy. DLSS has helped the most but I can't go over balanced without the ghosting bothering me so much. Also foveated rendering only gives me a few more frames and looks like poo.

@@reload54 aye, FPS can be another pain in the sitting apparatus. Hopefully things will get better when they switch to Vulcan

Never tried TrackIR, jumped straight into VR and never felt any significant issues with it. You might just need to get used to VR. Or you're just one of those people that don't vibe with VR...

Nice! Took me a couple of days to get back to standard when I moved over to VR. After that it's been excellent

I used the G2 with a 3090 for the longest time. It was great but there was always that balance that needed to be struck between performance and quality. I upgraded to a varjo aero with foveated rendering and it made all the difference. It sees where you’re looking and increases the pixel density there while your peripheral vision gets treated to a blurry mess. This way you can see incredibly clearly and have decent frames. Yes there’s a bit of lag as your eyes flicker over the screen but it’s a compromise I get used to. That being said I still keep squirrelling cash away for a 5090 and imagining the frames I’ll get with vulkan.
The thing about VR is that it’s the future. The headsets, processors and graphics cards will keep getting better. Wrap your mind around the angles now and the sight pictures you learn will hold you in good stead as the years roll on. Eventually you will come to the realisation that you don’t need to sit at a desk anymore and you can cut the legs off a seat, bolt your pedals to a piece of ply and attach your hotas on an extension on it too. Then you can start thinking about how to build a viper pit because it makes sense to use now.
Also from what I see of your gameplay you only seem to play on the dogfight server where you’re always WVR which is fine for a G2. It’s not like you’re playing on a WW2 server scouring both hemispheres around you for tiny dots yet.

No…it’s the plane. G-limiter on the mirage is broken so you can’t pull more than 6gs (it is stuck in “charge” mode. Wont get fixed until Razbam stops f’ing around

I don't blame them for not wanting to deal with ED's bullshit anymore. Shame for the module owners, though. It's ED breaking the module as well, it's not like Razbam just decides to break it.

VR makes me dizzy and it was not as exciting as I thought it would be. Apache at night was a hell of an experience and so is carrier traps but I can only play for 30 min or so

    DCS VR is really bad.

My brother has played DCS a lot longer than I have but when we both discovered VR we haven''t looked back lol. He got a quest 2 when they released which I couldn't afford at the time so I found a used Oculus Rift CV1. Now with a Quest 3. I can't play sims without VR now lol

Settings wise I’d increase the PD and put everything on low besides terrain textures and textures. You’ll notice a minimal difference between all settings across the board. Because VR visuals are downgraded by default. For anti aliasing, try DLAA, it smoothens out the jags and gives you room to increase the Pixel Density. Yes you’ll notice some ghosting, but you’ll get used to it. Until ED figures out a way to make spotting a little clearer on VR (besides rendering giant dots at a distance), I’d stick to Track IR and a wide monitor setup. Again it’s all personal preference. I’m a busy guy, so I usually pause and alt tab around around a lot. Hence why I prefer Track IR.

I have a reverb G2 and I have the same problem. I even upgraded to a 4090 and 13900k and I couldn’t keep using VR because of the blurred distance. I tried and tried and wanted it to be good but it’s just not. Anyone saying otherwise is lying to themselves. You really have to use a Varjo aero. Which they don’t make anymore to get eye tracking. And the crystal is dog crap all together. So not to many options

yup, no one knows the weeks I spent messing around with settings and XR Tool Kit. It's such a tug of war. Increase the quality and the frames go down, lower the quality and you get more ghosting and blurriness. I upgraded my motherboard and cpu because of VR. I find DLSS to give me the most performance but anything over balanced is to ghostly and blurry for me.

You don't know blurry until you use a CV1. Anything after that is amazing. It's not good, it's amazing. Everyone will have a different opinion so you can't talk for everyone.
