Great video! I was there about 12 years ago and need to go back. Rum Point was incredible as well as the snorkeling.

Hey Rudy Thanks for the insider info on the North Side. I am looking at renting a beach house for our family with 4 teenagers. I see mixed reviews about the North Side being too windy and messy, smelly with sea grass and insects. If we get a beach house on the North can we enjoy the water and beach or is it mainly a great view and you go to other sites you mentioned for water access and beach time?

Hey there, the northside is beautiful, you do get a lot more wind at times depending on the time of the year, but at night it can be amazing sitting out in the breeze. I prefer the wind actually, but definitely not smelly! There’s turtle grass surrounding a lot of the island, you won’t find a lot of sandy beaches on north side. They get quite rocky because it’s pretty much island Terrain. Rum Point is a sandy beach and there are other small ones nearby that. Most stuff around the north side and even east and will be more of a snorkeling type atmosphere where you do have to walk over rocks and swim over the turtle grass to get to the reefs. That’s just the way it can be. If you email me I’ll be able to tell you a much better idea of where maybe you should stay if you’re going to be having your teenagers with you because there’s really not a lot to do on this side of the island other than go, eat at some restaurants and snorkel. There are a little beaches scattered all over the place so it’s hit or miss on whether ones going to be Sandy or not. You could see behind me we’ve got sand, of course, but then you definitely have to walk over rocks to get out to snorkel not the end of the world but it’s not what most people prefer when they’re looking for a Caribbean get away they’re thinking white sand beaches like powder everywhere and that’s more like 7 mile beach. Email me if you can. I’ll be glad to give you a lot of pointers. rudymunis@att.net

I’m guessing the insects someone was talking about could be the sand flies/no see ems’ and I will tell you that is why I prefer the breeze in the wind because once the wind stops, you can get eaten alive. They are like a tiny mosquito that you cannot see and they hurt a little more than a mosquito bite, and you will not be very happy. Certain parts of the island have no breeze and at night those little things can be anywhere near the beaches. My brother I hope and pray there’s wind at night because we like to sit outside all night but once those damn things come out with no breeze, we run right back in the house usually for the night.

I have a great aversion to the sea and the beach 😖
