I have always idolized Mr. Armstrong. Not because the beautiful trumpeter he was, but because of the beautiful human being he is.

But, idolizing a person that only exists in your mind, thinking he had a beautiful heart only by watching him inside the screen of the tv/smartphone? That's a terrible way to admire someone.

This is so profound. My grandfather hitching a plow to his horse to go till his field would never know while holding me as a baby that 60 years later I can stream live videos instantly from another continent on a device I can hold in my hand. The baby that I hold will do things in 60 years that I can't even conceive of today.

Luis Armstrong came from an era deeply entrenched in racism and pure hatred. Non whites were made to sit in the vaccine of the bus, had different water fountains to drink from and even had their blood designated differently. Mr. Armstrong saw and sang of a future we all should strive for.

My mom lost custody over me when I was 6, and I haven’t been able to live with her since then. I’ve had my ups and downs, but this song brings me back to when my life was truly careless. My respect for this man is beyond any other musical artist. He was born in my state, and founded a whole music genre. Truly incredible.

Contrary to widespread believe this song was not composed by Louis Armstrong himself,
but written and composed by Bob Thiele and George David Weiss, always with Armstrong in mind as the possible interpreter.
However Louis Armstrong made the song surely his own by his unique style of interpretation.
Today is my first day in my new school. After 9 years of friendship, i have to let my friends go. But i will take every one of them in my memories and personality. The world is wonderful and full of wonderful people
I had similar problem after I went to high school. My friends also all went to different schools. But we are in contact, we are organising meetings and other stuff ( obviously not now). Even if everyone of us is working in different place we manage to find some time.

I remember the day my Grandpa died. I was young so my parents didn't want to see him die since they had no choice but to pull the plug. Before he forgot his memory, he told us he wanted to go home. My uncle drove me back to his place to keep my mind off things, the same uncle my Grandpa saved from being sold for food in a trying time in a recently turned communist China, this song came on the radio. I remember I used to hate this songs guts after this. But as I grew older, I realized I made my grandpa's day, each time I visited him and he visited us. I remember the sacrifice my uncle made for me and to him. I realized that I shouldn't hate this song, instead I should rejoice. To remember the days spent with family. My grandpa. It's been 6 years now since his death, and 2 more family members died. And the sad thing is, I'm forgetting their faces.

I have lost all of my grandparents (even my stepmom's who loved as one of their own)...and I was lucky enough to have been to see them minutes before they left this planet...but their love for me and them has never died and lives on in my mind, heart and morning and evening Soka Buddhist prayers... hopefully we will meet again in another lifetime! I only wish the best for them and infinite gratitude for all the love they gave me while they were living! So lucky to have had them as grandparents!
