Thank you. Excellent video. I would really love to see a home tour. I'm married to a Salvadoran woman who was born and raised in Santa Tecla. Living in El Salvdor if you have some good cash flow can be great. Everything is closeby and the food is delicious, not to mention the vegetables and fruits
I've been living away from El Salvador for the last 40 years but, in the last 5 I've been in and out plenty of times. I'm planning to live there for the rest of my days. Lots of changes are happening especially on Infrastructure, new buildings, fast train crossing the country from one end to the other, new airport, renew of ports in Sonsonate, La Union, La Libertad, Surf City is getting an overhaul, ... In 3-4 years it'll turn into a very interesting place to live. Being a small country you can live in the city or out and move around with ease, even when traffic is getting heavy. If you like warm weather, you'll be alright, lately it's getting cooler than before, though.
I miss living in El Salvador! I miss eating out pupusas every Sunday night. Life was so easy and very happy. Unfortunately, I don’t see myself living back home. I live in Los Angeles now but I come visit often to see my family. You should do a home tour and maybe a community tour where you live.

Just for the record i left El salvador 23 years ago. never came back. congrats!! I will become your shadow now and follow you (on your youtube channel i mean) Nice Good job
First of all, thank you for this great video, it is super informative and really well done. I am a born El Salvadorian but left the country since 1991 and had been living in Canada since then. I do visit from time to time but it is a different expense when you just go for a week or two for vacation rather than to be living in the country. I am planning to go back to El Salvador during the Canadian winter and then move back to Canada for our Canadian summers so I needed all the information that you had provided in the video. By the way, I got a great solution for you went it comes to Netflix and TV (USA English version) and you would only need an Amazon Fire Stick 4K ($70 one time fee), an ExpressVPN account ($100 per year) and unlimited internet (speeds of 40Mbps at least Tigo has it for about $43 a month) and a Stb Emulator provider ($15 per month) all that gives you all the channels you ever need. Again, thank you and have a great time in El Salvador.

Hi I am from El Salvador, live in Canada since 1983, I miss my country and am so proud the way you express yourself about El Salvador, I love your videos and God Bless your family 😊
The info provided in this video it is pretty accurate... remember your expenses are going to be determined depending on your family size and region/zone of the country you're staying in... for most single individuals; you can find a package in San Salvador (1 room and utility bills) for $150 or less.
Hello, I am a mom living in El Sal. too. I find food expencier than in the US here starting with milk $5.99 per gallon. It is good to know that there are more expat families trying to adapt. God bless you. Keep it going.

@@ThatExpatMom - It is exciting. The information you have provided has me leaning toward moving out of the city proper and into one of the outlying communities. A engineer Income is between $600-1000 of course there are few people than earn a little bit more that this range. So the work-class can’t afford to pay for a good school for his children and it’s so frustrating. Right now I’m living in Australia and everything is completely different.
The minimum it's $300 so most of the people earn this much, mostly if you didn't go to the university. But if you graduated can be from $450 to $600 and if you have a good job even $1000 to $2000 Where I used to live the rent was like $50, school free but if you wanted a private school was from $35 to $50. Water service $2 and electricity $35
Mmm if you have an American salary, that’s the deal of your life... but if you have a salvadorean average salary of 250 dollars per month... then that is unsustainable
I agree Nesk at minimum wage we would not be able to budget our current home. I tried to include a range of possible rents and give our experience as a reference point. I do not have a US salary, I am a stay at home mom, my husband works here in El Salvador as well as runs his own company. We work hard to make ends meet and it's not always easy but I love raising our children here. 💙
Hi I’m from El Salvador and I live in Canada , woow if you expense is more of $2,000 every month I don’t know how the people who receive only $300 every month can survive , and all what you said is 100% true , I feel bad for all the people who work very hard just to have enough to eat , I hope you and you family have a nice and safe life in El Salvador

$3 water bill, $40 internet/cable is sooooo freaking affordable compared Denver. I can compare this to affordable living in the Philippines. And I like that idea of buying fruits and veges in the Mercado instead of the mall.
I pay 3 dollars monthly for water 15 usd for internet and about 40 usd monthly for electricity (we live 6 in the same house) bad thing jobs are very low paid (being average 300 usd) and also insecurity.. I know you didn't ask xD

Damn, I need to move back to El Salvador. My mortgage is $3,500 in a regular mid sized middle class working community house, gas here in LA was about $5 per gallon, but it recently went down to about $3.80, for regular unleaded, not even the premium, LA Dept of water and power runs around another $2,500, groceries easily $250-$300 every 2 weeks. We have devastating crime, homeless on every corner, in fact just this morning, the Ralph's I shop at was robbed by a homeless lady with a wine bottle. I need to leave CA completely!
You can totally spend less than we do a week on groceries it's just what works for our family 😊 we used to spend 100 before the 3 girls got bigger. Our budget includes meals and snacks for 5 people, dog food for 2 large dogs, eating pupusas on Sunday, eating out one other time, cleaning supplies, hygiene and haircare, desserts, water, and alcohol. Some weeks we spend less some a little more but this is our average.

Carol, you provide the best explanations about life and cost of living in El Salvador. I have watched other videos from other expats living in El Salvador , but none provide as much info or as clear as you do. You have the gift of communication. I was born in El Salvador and at the age of 17, I came to the USA. After living in Los Angeles over the last 45 years, I an contemplating returning back to El Salvador to enjoy my retirement. I am single and based on your explanation, it looks like I could be okay with a monthly income of $2,000. Nothing extravagant, of course. Thank you for the information.
The plan was just addressed last night. Bitcoin will be an option not a requirement for consumers or small business people. There will be an app Chivo where you can pay in dollars or bitcoins and the receiver can choose bitcoin or dollars. Wifi or Saldo will not be required. It's early stages but I think this can be good for everyone.
@@ThatExpatMom I heard the El Salvador government is also giving out 30 us dollars of Bitcoin to all its Citizens if they download an app . That sounded amazing to me 😉. I am suddenly more interesting in knowing about El Salvador , being the Crypto nut case that I am lol.

I’m Salvadoran; been living in the states since 1977 (7 yrs of age); naturalized citizen since 1993I. I also live with a ‘gringa’ hee hee. I never thought videos like yours were possible, needless to say I hadn’t felt much life security or interest in moving there. However, after watching your videos-I must say that I am beginning to like the lower cost of living. Your video has persuaded me. Thanks for your posts. They are informational, fun and helpful. Hope you you continue what you’re doing. ;)
I love the smile when you talk , you transmit good vibrations and truth w your eyes , I wish you the best there in El Salvador .
Thank you so much! 🤗 💙 You are so kind! I am really so grateful to be here in El Salvador 💙
Awwwwww, why are you so sweet?
I need to speak in that way about my El Salvador, too!
Many thanks to u and family for enjoying, creating wonderful image about our country El Salvador, I am veteran retiree, enjoying humble life here and my budget is about 700, no rent, just having good time😎

Awesome job Carol! Loved it when you said "we tend to import.../we import them in...", the fact that you said "we" tells us you are officially a Salvadorean! Wish you and your family the best.

I've been living away from El Salvador for the last 40 years but,
in the last 5 I've been in and out plenty of times. I'm planning to live there for the rest of my days.
Lots of changes are happening especially on Infrastructure, new buildings, fast train crossing the country from one end to the other, new airport, renew of ports in Sonsonate, La Union, La Libertad,
Surf City is getting an overhaul, ...
In 3-4 years it'll turn into a very interesting place to live.
Being a small country you can live in the city or out and move around with ease, even when traffic is getting heavy. If you like warm weather, you'll be alright, lately it's getting cooler than before, though.
Yes! So many amazing things happening 💙 I love living here and raising our girls here this is my adoptive home and I'm so grateful 😊
I miss living in El Salvador! I miss eating out pupusas every Sunday night. Life was so easy and very happy. Unfortunately, I don’t see myself living back home. I live in Los Angeles now but I come visit often to see my family. You should do a home tour and maybe a community tour where you live.
Where in El Salvador are you from? I´m originally from San Diego myself :) I would be happy to make a home tour.

Good job
This is awesome! Thank you! Greetings from Minnesota!
Thank you 😊 how is Minnesota this time of year? What is your favorite thing about living there?
I've seen parents kick out their house kids, in USA, just because they turned 18. It's heart breaking!
Hola Esteban.

Some day i want to go live there...
Milk can be very expensive especially with little ones that go through it like water. We buy a liter of milk for 1.35 almost daily 🐄 What is your new favorite food here? What foods do you miss the most?
Maybe because its real milk, but milk is not good for you so drink some frescos
Gas is currently $2.40/gallon here in Houston. It's always been noticeably higher when I visit ES.
All about perspective and where you live
Here in San Francisco CA $4.00 / gallon
Cheers

Hello Carol. I am a low income disabled Puerto Rican American. I have been researching a few countries where I might be able to move to. My Salvadoran friend has invited me to visit his family in El Salvador to see if I like it. I really appreciate you sharing your experiences living there. I am concerned with the climate being too hot year round. I love hiking and my animals. I cook and I can garden for food too. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. So agree with you when you said “weather is always perfect in ES” that is why I always want to go back, don’t take me wrong, I love 🇨🇦 but winter here can be as cold as -29 degrees, gasoline here where I live is $1.26 litre today.
You are so lucky to live there is so much to do there.

Wow, very well explained. She went down to the point in a very clear manner. I'm a salvadorean living in California and I am in my fifties working and saving for my retirement, I'm already considering to move to a cheaper place once I retire.

@@ThatExpatMom - It is exciting. The information you have provided has me leaning toward moving out of the city proper and into one of the outlying communities. Most of my friends live in San Salvador, so I will make that decision as the time gets closer. My Spanish is not as strong as I wish it was. Still, I get by, and everyone I meet is so helpful. Thank you for this video. I want to take my daughters to visit El Salvador. They have never been there, so this video helped my youngest.
So interesting to hear this! I’d be curious to know the typical Salvadorian income as well. Really nicely put together!!
That's a really good question 😊 future video coming soon 💙
@@ThatExpatMom do you work for a US company or a Salvadorian company?
A engineer Income is between $600-1000 of course there are few people than earn a little bit more that this range. So the work-class can’t afford to pay for a good school for his children and it’s so frustrating. Right now I’m living in Australia and everything is completely different.
The minimum it's $300 so most of the people earn this much, mostly if you didn't go to the university. But if you graduated can be from $450 to $600 and if you have a good job even $1000 to $2000 Where I used to live the rent was like $50, school free but if you wanted a private school was from $35 to $50. Water service $2 and electricity $35
@@JCanalesax how to get nationality
Yes please give us a tour of your house! And where did you say you live currently? $500 is an excellent rent
Mmm if you have an American salary, that’s the deal of your life... but if you have a salvadorean average salary of 250 dollars per month... then that is unsustainable
Where she actually lives is $120
@@nesk8688 I agree on that. I don't live in ES that's why I think it's a pretty good rent.

They are a family of 5 and most expenses varies depending where you rent and schools as she said.
They are living in a good area I believe! Plus they have good paying jobs.
Their diet is based on tortilla and salt. They don't eat well.
Totally agree, but as she stated you can live with your family and cut the cost of living. I totally agree with you and hoping salaries will increase to a fair amount cost of living as a single person.

What a lovely 😊 video, good info
150 dollars on food a week. That is what my family spends on food here in the US and in El Salvador we spend maybe 75 to 100 a week

UPDATED! BITCOIN IS ALSO A NATIONAL CURRENCY OF EL SALVADOR!
So sorry for you guys !
