Thank you! A vid on German short rows that makes logical sense instead of talking about "knit side" and "purl side" and explains the heuristic rather than just the case. Exactly what I needed. Trying GSRs for the first time.

You are such a treasure! Thanks for this video, which is the best and easiest I've seen on working German Short Rows (which is why I've hated them till now! (-:). Watching your videos always makes me happy. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with us. ❤

My dog is looking at me. The second you said, "Pup." He's a 90 pound golden doodle. I don't want to knit him a sweater, but dang he's cute and hard to say no to. Lol! I love this tutorial too. 😊

Now I did see a video recently where a large dog like yours needed a sweater: he was bitten by a paralysis tick (we're talking Bondi Vet here in case you can't guess) and they had to shave him to make sure that they'd found all the ticks. As winter was coming on they supplied him with a commercial doggy jacket to keep him warm until his own coat grew back.
And then, come to think of it, there was the time our Labrador got a chest infection and mum turned one of my stepfather's jumpers into a sweater for her.
So, I'd say if you really like the pattern, make your dog a sweater and it may come in useful.

You always make things so approachable! Thanks! I was reading through the marled mania sweater pattern for the first time and I kind of panicked. “Do what now?” 😂
    Got it!

Stephen, your technique is flawless! I love GSR's and had no idea how to close the gap. I'm also a left handed knitter so this is perfect. Just what I needed! Thank you🐑💫

This is my ultimate, go to, way to do short rows! I don't do it any other way unless the pattern specifically says so. 😊

WOW and I thought German short rows were only for socks. Thank you for sharing. Never could get them right due to miscounting of stitches. Have to practice.

I think that's where the suggestion of the stitch markers comes into play.

Great video, Stephen. Thank you! How is this technique affected if it's K2tog tbl? How do you resolve those stitches? Thanks!

Hi Stephen! Thanks for such a great tutorial! Very clear!! Question: can you use GSR for a longer tail or is it more for a fairly short “tail”… I want to make a jumper with a 20 cm tail/dip at the back (like your pup’s top but much longer) thx 🙏

Hiya, I am german, I never heard of that, what is the perpose of making all the back and forth fuss.. I just do 1left 1 right , as we say and thats it.. you have the rib. Or 2 left 2 right, dubble rib. Our left is your pearl and right is your knit. I think ..have a nice one 🌻🙂

Hallo Marie, durch die verkürzten Reihen ist der Bogen/die Rundung entstanden. Die Abschlusskante ist oben länger als am Bauch. Vielleicht kann es dir jemand besser erklären als ich.😉

It's for shaping knitting, particularly but not exclusively sock heels.
