The Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro surprised me!
ALL the issues I had with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro (and, honestly, every pixel before that as well) were completely fixed!
Does the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro overheat? The answer, for me personally, is NO! This is a very needed upgrade!
Cellular reception has also been fantastic and is a massive upgrade over the Pixel 7 Series

Links don't work 🙄
@@TheBeardedUchiha they work for me 👀 both on mobile and PC. That's strange. I'll look into it
Links work, but it's not showing free watch or earbuds there with the phone, I wanted to get 8pro but can't see free watch with it
@@verunushkathe offer expired 10/16
Pixel 8 here, I went to the park and shot a lot of video and took a bunch of photos and the phone was a champ. Came home, edited that footage using Power Director and had no issues. The device was warm. After editing, I fired up the camera and it worked.
Are you doing a positive review this year because you want the Pixel 9 for free next year ? 😂
lol no.
Roasting hot everyday, and battery dies by the afternoon... Not impressed
Same with mine
@@ThePontiacFieroim so glad i went with the oneplus 12. Because i haven't been satisfied with a pixel since the pixel 3 xl.
i think because of the app running in the bg and mobile data drain too much battery
@@mikoto.a2095 they use a shitty Samsung modem...
it in itself drains battery
The one review I have been waiting for. Most reviews ignore the cellular radio problem with the pixel 6 and 7. Good to hear the improved it on the pixel 8. Perhaps one reason the battery is better is that it is not constantly trying to find a cell signal!
Good point! That definitely helps with battery
No over heating issues and has good battery life plus way faster charging very bright display on my P8👍🏽
I had Base 6 Model for 2 years and it handled everything very well. Just traded it up to a Base 8. As much as I understand why people criticize Pixel phones. The software on Pixel since 6 with tensor has been insanely good. Not only did I travel a lot with he P6, it was hands down the best international translation assistant you could ever have. With the 8 the assistant got even better and paired with the new pixel pro earbuds and super wide band Bluetooth... I think people don't quite understand how ahead Google is now. Apple and Samsung have nearly no answer to some of this software Google is capable of now. It's only going to keep getting better.
Couldn't agree with that more!!
I couldn't agree more. I found the pixel 3 and the 5 and I am thoroughly delighted with the uncomplicated software experience. They've been great phones. The eight looks quite the evolution
I have had the Pixel 8 for about 2 days. Coming from a Pixel 4a5g. Love this phone so far. The brighter display alone makes it worth it for me. Battery life seems good (I don't play a lot of games), and no over-heating. Google had a pre-order promotion of $300 off the Pixel 8 and I think like $400 off the Pixel 8 pro. Not sure if that is still available, but you can't beat that. I prefer a smaller phone, so I went with the Pixel 8. Will update if I run into any issues with the phone.
Im also with the 4a wanting to upgrade... Can you give some updates, how's it going with the 8?
@@ravisun2222 It's not bad. The only issue I have had so far is the call quality can be kind of crappy at times, but that might be due to my wi-fi connection. It only seems to happen when I'm at home. The person on the other end of the call can't hear me, or it echos. The display is better than the 4a though for sure. Battery life is good. Phone does get warm sometimes, but not too often. Camera is good, the usual for a Pixel. You might want to wait for the Pixel 9, but I hear it's going to be really expensive. The 8 is should be fine though, and you will probably be able to get it pretty cheap. Hope this helps!
I just brought it. It's overheating a lot! I'm concerned
I ordered the 8 Pro with free Pixel Watch 2 in the uk. I’m going over from iPhone 13 Pro Max. This’ll be the first time I’ve moved away from Apple so it’s quite daunting but also exciting. Reviews like this just reinforce that I’ve made the right choice…I hope
Big mistake
@@javidzahedi4757 I've had no heating issues at all, use it as my daily driver. Absolutely brilliant phone, paired with the Pixel Watch 2 and Buds Pro.
After 7 months what do you think
@@charliek2557 I like it. So may software features I love. Is it better than an iPhone? No. The ecosystem isn’t quite there yet. iPhone still feels more premium and I don’t quite trust Google in the same way I do Apple.
Good news!!!! 🎉😱 although I hadn't any issues that you told in the video, like signal, overheating and so on in my P7P, I'm glad to hearing your great experience with this devices.
Good job Google! Almost everyone is happy with the pixel series this year, and its just on 8 series. Can you imagine what is coming the next few years? But now, we don't need to be anxious 😅.
It appears I chose the right Pixel to finally jump ship to from years of owning Galaxies. 😂
I love my Pixel 8 Pro. Even though I miss some of the Samsung features that I never used much 😂
I'm glad I finally cut ties with Samsung.
Plus I'm getting a free Pixel Watch 2. Brilliant 😊
What do you miss on the pixel that the galaxy offered?
Awesome video! I completely agree with everything you stated in this video and its exactly why I traded in my Pixel 7 Pro to purchase the Pixel 8 Pro. I pre-ordered to take advantage of the free Pixel Watch 2 deal. I got the Pixel 8 Pro 256GB in Porcelain for $1100 and the free Pixel Watch 2 for free ($350 value) and received $420 for my Pixel 7 Pro trade-in. That's $1450 worth of merch for only $680! That's what I call a bargain, and a GREAT phone!
The only disappointment I have to date with the Pixel 8 series is the lack of video out on the USB-C port. Android Authority just posted an article about it where they state that Google "confirms video out is 'currently' not available." I'm stuck on the word "currently" though. I'm looking a it as implying it may be added later in a feature drop. I heard rumor a while back that Google was working on its own version of Samsung DEX, so perhaps video out will occur once Google completes the software for their version of Samsung DEX? Let's hope so.
No external display support is the main reason why i'm not buying a pixel 8 , well for now at least .
@@othinus Understandable. Not sure why Google hasn't enabled this.
I have the 4a 5G and think the 8 will be my next upgrade. That bright screen will be nice for my outside work, and better cell service is good. The 4a is pretty good but I do notice some weird spots where I lose service and since I travel all across the southeast for work more reliable connection is always preferred
Oh woah. That'll definitely be a fantastic upgrade!
I just got the Pixel 8, coming from a 4a5g as well. This phone is WAY better so far. Display is much brighter, and battery life is good so far. There was a pre-order offer from Google for $300 off the Pixel 8, so can't beat that!
@@jons4717 hmm in guessing that preorder is no longer available
The worst phone I've had which still overheats now is the iPhone 15 pro max. Getting rid of it with the pixel 9.
For right now pixel 8 is really great. And the size is so perfect😍
Love your Pixel 8 coverage. You have actually been more in depth on the issues that concerned me from the 6 and 7 series. To the point that now I’m comfortable in my decision to upgrade and get the Pixel 8. I was already leaning towards that but seeing this put any fears I had to rest. Also may be a silly question, but if you trade in a phone at Best Buy in person, do you immediately get the trade in value? Normally I go through the manufacturer but in this case it sounds like Best Buy may be the better option.
Thanks so much! I've only traded in one phone through Best buy, and I'm pretty sure they give you the trade-in value immediately. You might want to call them just to confirm. But I agree, Best buy definitely has better offers than Google themselves. You will get a higher trade-in value through Best buy
@@MarksTech yeah that’s definitely a good idea since the closest Best Buy to me is an hour and a half away. Before I drove that far I’d call to confirm they had the Pixel 8 in stock and ask about their trade in policy. But your information in this video is greatly appreciated. Most reviews on the 8 and 8 pro have shied away from giving us more in depth answers to if Google fixed past issues. I was a little hesitant to get the 8 without knowing if the problems were solved and now it appears that they have. Hopefully moving forward Google will continue to improve.
@@MarksTechive hear the fingerprint sensor and face unlock in even remotely dim light is still trash.. could you cover this please..
I traded in my Pixel 7a at Best buy for $450 so it was definitely worth it for me. Good phone so far.
@@christopherreed301 cool did they give you the credit for the trade in immediately in person? Or did you do it online?
My pixel 8 pro runs super hot just doing the basic functions. Hasn't overheated and shut down yet, but its oddly warm. My google pixel 5a rarely got hot unless in the sun. We shall see if the 8 pro gives me long term issues.
same hereee
Mine too
I wish he would've mentioned that in the vid
I'm also having a great experience with my Pixel 8. It's also *_significantly_*_ more comfortable_ than the Pixel 7, which I'm trading in for this purchase via Google Fi.
I'm waiting on my Pixel 8 to arrive and i'm excited because I had a pixel 6 way back and hated the battery life but loved everything else! I'm trading in a pixel 5 for the potential 300$ off! Excited to see this new generation!
@@KryptonicHD great timing for you. I think you're going to be very pleased with your upgrade. I had missed my Pixel 5 ... _until_ I got the pixel 8!
@@malcontent_1 Ive been using a Pixel 3a as my sim phone and then a Motorola Edge Plus 2020 as my secondary and it's super feature packed but that's what made me realize I just want one solid one with great specs! Google even on the pixel 3 does that! I somehow bought a pixel 5 for $50 brand new and it works great but I see this trade up as a chance to pay 450$ for a BRAND new phone and Earbuds! I haven't bought a new phone since the iPhone 11 which I sold immediately after paying it off and swapped to Android! Pixel 5 does feel good, but the battery sucks and gets pretty warm hahaha 🤣 typical pixel!! Pixel 8 fam soon!
Also I have 2 phones because pixel 3 has good reception and Motorola phones are great but have bad reception and This 2020 Edge Plus is a Verizon unlocked version because it only came out with Verizon and therefore loses connection on T-Mobile unfortunately
Love the positive tone of your pixel 8 review. I'm glad to see that Google has addressed the brightness of the pixel 8 as opposed to the 7's. Question tho. Have they addressed the fact that one has to bring the brightness control all the way up to get the desirable level of brightness on the 8 as opposed to the 7? Because the 7 had to be adjusted like way up to get it decently bright. Thanks
Just bought this, it's with IT and they're loading it up with GrapheneOS.
Very excited
14 is really doing well on my 7 Pro
All day at our closest amusement park on a hot day in August using the Pixel 7. I took pictures and video all day. No overheating was experienced and I had battery to spare by the time the day ended. I've never had the overheating issue. I think that the main reason is that I keep my phone on LTE. 5G coverage isn't consistent enough in my area. I'm not discounting anyone else's experience. Just sharing mine. I haven't had the same connectivity issues that I had with the 6 either.
Just bought Pixel 8 two days ago, I can confirm that Pixel 8 have heating issues while doing regular activities like watching videos, gaming, capturing etc.
but the good thing is it's better than other previous versions 😅.
did it improved with time , android 15 and 5g disabled ?
Android 14 completely rejuvenated the pixel 6 pro also. So much better now
Love my pixel 8 pro. I returned my new iPhone 15 pro and got the pixel 8 pro and free watch. I have zero regrets. Literally forgot about my iPhone
I bought the Pixel 8 a week ago and it definitely overheats when charging, playing games etc. Noticeable compared to my Pixel 6 before. The cell service seems to be better.
heating during charging is normal. I have been on P8 and didn't notice overheating
Name me a single phone which stays the same almost room temperature or lower while charging 🤡
@@young_n._older there's a big between heats and overheats, isn't there.
Since Android 14 update. No more overheating on my Pixel 7 & 7 Pro
Not true. Pixel 8 is also has heating problem. My one gets hot while using LTE. Also I slept turning off internet connection and apps closed, still it's hot at morning.
Love your videos! You are spot-on when it comes to the Google pixel 8 Pro! Thanks for all the great videos! Keep them coming!
Great stuff! My Pixel 7 never overheated though, has very good cellular reception and great battery life like 7-8 SoT.
100 to 0?
@@Z1bi 100 to 20. Mostly indoors though, on WiFi. If I am out and about, I get max 5 hours on cellular data. But enough for me to get me through the day.
@@mytechchannel123 i get 6h indoors with 11h music streaming, my phone is pixel 8 pro is it good?
This is like an advert for the iPhone 15. This video shot on the front camera?! What, that hit me like ""What, this is crazy good".
I usually don't comment on videos because people usually get too distracted with technical specs and other stuff, that they forget what the video is all about !
For you, GREAT HONEST REVIEW !
My pixel 8 overheats - i realized instagram was eating through a lot o battery in the background. the screen never gets even close to 3 hours.. once it drained overnight from 80% to 0% in the morning. I'm thinking I may have a defect phone.
bro tell things like we can believe.
Great video mate 🎉 Love from Australia. As an Apple user for more than a decade, I had been following Android world for a while now and Pixel was always in my radar since their debut. Last year Samsung S23 ultra was soooo nice and reviews were damn good. But I was kinda waiting what Google brings up this year and then decide. In a dilemma of choosing between S23 Ultra vs Pixel 8 pro, went with the latter and I'm soooo happy with this switch. The freedom, the ease of use like an iPhone of Android version and the smart features it offers, wow! This thing is awesome. So far no issues, looking good. Great network reception with an eSim & a physical sim, no heating issues, great battery life (7-8hrs of screen on time). Yeah will have to see how this goes thing holds up going forward.
how is it so far bro?
Just ordered the regular Pixel 8 256 Gigs Hazel colour.....switching from my Galaxy Flip 4 since the folding mechanism is starting to malfunction....my first pixel device....fingers crossed...
your feeling after all this time ? mostly asking for battery life and overheating
Well, i wanna say i got pixle 8, using it for couple days and i noticed this phone overheated by using some basic regular stuff like instagram, watch RUclips, facebook, watch movie. I have Samsung s21 , never had this problem , the funny thing is comparing these two phone speed test i wonder why s21 (3years ago phone) is faster than pixle 8?! Very interesting ha?! I returned pixle 8 and kept my s21.
Mine is overheating. Has from the moment I bought it and trying to find a fix
Quite interesting. I had a Pixel 2 XL for 5 years (2019 - 2023), it never ever gotten even warm. I wonder how they did that. Google should do it again.
moving from pixel 6 to pixel 8 well for the price is not a huge upgrade. I like the fact that it is skinnier slightly smaller and easier to use overall. The speakerphone remains about the same from the pixel 6. Battery life is not monumentally better at the moment (since i had it only 3 days). I still believe it is not worth $949!(Canadian prices) what gets me is "features coming soon" man i hate companies that do that. If we expect to pay that price ALL THE FEATURES better be ready on LAUNCH DAY! if its NOT ready, then DONT LAUNCH the product case closed.
Don't buy it then.
I upgraded from the 7 and appreciate every upgrade. It's pretty hard for companies to meet unrealistic upgrade expectations, especially when you see a few hundred bucks of upgrade cost being "a lot", when it's really nothing in terms of r&d and software engineering...but obviously from the sound of your comment, this is a new concept to you.
At the end of the day, your phone still works and getting updated, no one forces you to.
That's one thing I like about pixels and continuous security updates and feature drops so you get to enjoy it like a new phone for a very long time and not to mention the delightfully uncomplicated software experience.
I had a very bad experience.. I bought it a month ago... Two times I have sent for service they took 3 weeks to fix it.. after that also the heating issue and more over it running normal applications and it easily reaches 42 degree, and no solution and it's waste of money to buy pixel 8
I'm an avid card player and I'm always in big buildings for hours and I get full service on the pixel 8 but not with my Samsung. It's a good phone in my opinion. I got the phone for 500 off contract and dropped in a prepaid sim. It's been great so far.
Question, do you use the 8 pro with 2k resolution or do you use 1080 and is there a difference in the battery, greetings from PR 🇵🇷✌️
Is this satire ?
Beacause I just bought a pixel 8,almost perfect phone.
But after only 15 mins of setting up the phone it overheated !
And now I optimized it, let it cool down and it still overheats after 40 mins of casuale usage.
My old huawei P 20 runs cold AF. Even when I play Video games for more than 30 Min.
Is that normal with modern flagships ?
My pixel 7 also overheats especially on cellular. Not very happy with the phone. Thinking to upgrade to pixel 9 but it uses the same Samsung modem and CPU so not sure if it is much different.
Question mark, did you set your display to full resolution or keep it at high resolution?
I tried both but I honestly couldn't really tell the difference so I keep it on high
Mi 7 Pro is giving me between 8 to 9,5 hours on screen time with android 14.....and no overheating at all...🤷🏻♂️
Thank God I found someone who has these issues! It's just frustrating with my pixel 7
great!! these are the reviews that we wait for .....no over hype, no less studs about the phone too.... keep it going
Did you try video calling while charging? Did it stop charging or stop heat up and started throttling while charging?
New to the channel, great overview of the phone also impressive video from the iphone 15. Have you tried making youtube content recorded from the pixel 8?
Thank you so much! :)
I haven't tried yet, but I'm going to! I'll see how it goes
Hello. Thx for reviews, good as always❤ one question i have please:
Iv heard there is on the pixel 8 pro, if u see the display not straight, i mean from sides, its start up some greenish effect on display!? Can you confirm pls, its exist or its just some models?
Thank you very much!
Hey! Thanks so much:)
I'm not running into any display issues at all, even while looking at it from the side. No green tint!:)
@@MarksTechthx uuu❤
People complain about everything... So many people said the Pixel 6 has terrible heat and battery issues. Now I have the Pixel 6a and NO ISSUES. I feel that people expect way too much from companies or they are too used to extremely high end phones...
Excellent update 👏 Would you mind informing me what is the cut-out at the top of the phone (opposite side of the pinhole) that appears to be filled in?
Pixel 8 vs Pixel 7, would be a great video.
How are you getting on with fingerprint I'm struggling with it and also annoyed how fac doesn't work in a dark room. I'm coming from a 12 pro max and debating to give the pixel back for a 15 pro
I have both the pixil 7 pro and pixil 8 pro and the pixil 8 pro gets great reception like 4 to 5 bars and the 7 pro gets 1 to 2 bars big difference
i have the pixel 8 pro and it gets unconfterbly hot to hold in hands for no reason i have everything tured off only wifi on
Can you confirm whether the Pixel 8 pro overheats or gets warm with moderate use/ video watching?
Never had any phone overheat. But I also use my phone like a normal person. I don't live with it attached to my face, consuming all the media. It's mostly just in my pocket. I go three days without charging. The iPhone 14 was trash. I had to tweak it a lot to get decent battery life out of it. My Samsung A54 was great. I've only had the Pixel 8 a day, so I don't know yet.

I've had my Pixel8 for 2months & its overheating all the time (I cant even hold it in my hand its so hot). I just use my bible reading app and it overheats. I take a picture and it overheats. I've powered it down at an attempt to reboot, and it still overheats.

Yup got 1 less than 2 weeks ago and it has overheated 2 days in a row just from watching a twitch stream.

how about taking 4k 60fps on sunny day outside is "device too hot may reduce the quality" still exist?
Hard to believe its not overheating
Lmao agreed. I couldn't believe it myself
@@MarksTechmine heats after 5 minutes with just open normal app
My experience is that everything you mentioned is true. But the Pixel is a bad at high multitasking. E.g., uploading photos to Facebook marketplace. The app just shuts down. Or using the Internet and then having to multitask to copy and paste the pixels response it to just lag and shut down.
The s23 just chopped through any task.
Take home.
PIXEL 8 If you want a simple phone to take photos and be a normal tasker
S23 Does everything above and multiasks anything wothout lag.
Both are great phones for different tasks.
Longevity wise. What makes technology fluid is the software updates. Google for software updates. Samsung for hardware performance.
I thought about trading in my s23 ultra for the pixel 8 pro but the ultra is just simply the king 🤴 I can't make the switch yet. Plus I'll be getting the s24 ultra so hopefully the trade in deals won't be hot garbage this year 🙃
Don’t do it, s23 is way better than pixle. I can say it’s better than next couple years google pixle phones
I have no problems with my pixel 7 pro since last October. No overheating, excellent signal, and usually I get 11hours sot.
I unfortunately had overheating issue right out of the box with Pixel 8. I ran back to Apple. I'm not willing to pay that much. While it may not be a "problem", if they want to charge $800, it better be on Apple level hardware quality.
I agree with him, just sad i have'nt watched his video before buying pixel 7 pro...
Pixel 8 Pro is great so far. Quick question though, when you shoot 50MP photos, does it still apply the “Google” processing? I notice when I shoot 50MP photos they are super detailed, but they don’t have that “Google” look like the 12MP photos have.
What was your ambient temperature when testing theese phones for photo and video
My pixel 8pro is already heating up at 2 days. I'm not really doing anything crazy except my regular day to day stuff. 🤷♀️
It still gets warm and still gets laggy. Viewfinder on camera is still awful when the phone gets warm
How's the battery life on 5G? My P7P is great on battery on WiFi, but sucks on cellular when not connected to Wi-Fi.
They're using the same cellular modem so I doubt it's any better.
Battery life is incredible !:) I'm getting great results

Hey thanks for the video on the pixel 8 and yeah I haven't had the phone very long. Only one day but I haven't noticed any heating issues yet. Hopefully I won't
I think you're going to have an excellent time. This is the first time I am this impressed with a pixel phone!! Not a single heating issue so far

What makes you choose the p8p over s23u?
@whitneym.6941 I think nothing

S23 ultra is superb
It's my own opinion, but both of them are great.

Thoughts on watch thus far?
As pixel 7 pro user and the disgusting expiriance I've got with this phone I will never invest money in Google phones for the foreseeable future. Very disappointed by Google.
Been using the Pixel 8 for a month.. Love this phone, the best one i have ever had... But when i use it for example on RUclips for longer than 10 min, it gets warm (41-42°) .. And when I'm scrolling down,it lags a bit , even in my photos gallery app... No apps opened at the background and brightness 86% .. Only that makes me disappointed
Is Pixel 8 having a trace of laggyness? I see Google Tensor is very much inferior compared to SD Gen 2. But i am super interested with Pixels because its camera is too good.
My AI wallpaper generator doesn't work 😭😭
It says "Couldn't generate image" or something like that
Pixil 7 pro must have been using apples modem last year cause they both got 1 bar
😂😂😂
But i have overheated my pixel 8 pro, 5 min when i use Instagram i can feel it start to warm up
Is the finger print reader better on the 8? I have a 6 and I just dont even try anymore. Thanks
It definitely is!:)
agree, very pleased with mine so far
im interested in the pixel 8 pro for its ai and voice typing and call assist stuff, but I'm likely getting the s24 U, I'm just hoping samsung will get rid of the shutter lag and better ai and better voice typing.
While gaming on my pixel 8 pro it gets hot and throttles my connection. It goes from 5g ultra wideband down to 5g but only at 5 mbs
Who's complaining about heat issues? No one that I know of.
