Unpopular opinion: I LOVE Merder's wedding. A fancy wedding with a lot of people, dancing and Meredith wearing a white dress would have been so weird because they're not the type of people who are into that. Meredith and Derek always called each other wife/husband even before the actual wedding. They don't need a fancy wedding to love each other or to feel that they belong to each other. I loved their aromantic and rushed "wedding" because it fit them so well.
@@Durrenbergerfam I get that, my issue with it is that they could have waited an hour and it wouldnt have made a difference. Skipping your friends wedding so you can get a court house wedding is just tacky

Arizona was the most beautiful bride in Grey's and I'm talking about like ten weddings! (April comes second😁) I loved the MerDer wedding, they never wanted a big wedding.

To think Lexie and Jackson where at this wedding together and then they zoom to April alone and then BAM Japril was born a few seasons later hahahaha... Say what you want about April, she is one of my fav characters, very real and human. I loved Japril I whish they it could be back
Cristina and Owen were together from 5-9 I think, not counting their breakups and whatever, and they got officially married in 7 and divorced in 9 so their relationship was like 4 & and a half years maybe 5, and their marriage was 2 years maybe just 1 1/2
Because Shonda wanted to show that love is love irrespective of gender/sex. Merder didn't have a typical wedding and yet their wedding was legal whereas Calzona had a big wedding w/white dresses and all and yet they weren't 'legally' married. By showing both Merder and Calzona wedding simulteneuosly she wanted to establish that both the weddings are equal in respect. It was a beautiful episode. :')

I also had a wedding like that. Would have hated nothing more than a fancy, cheesy wedding. Not everyone "dreams" of these types of weddings.
