First part of more detailed report from Aquatics Live 2011 - an aquarium show organized on 19-20th November in the Olympia 2 hall in London. Many aquarium companies, UK fishkeepers' forums and associations took part in the event. Their booths were located on two floors.
In this first episode I show aquariums at booths of AquaJardin, C.E. Fish Essentials, Star Fisheries, and also the booth of Crocodiles of the World, where no aquarium was displayed.
AquaJardin displayed two setups. The first one was a square and low planted tank, with Microsorum and a large group of Electric Blue Rams and Harlequin Rasboras. The second aquarium setup consisted actually of three small ADA Do Aqua! aquariums, put in one row, and decorated with one long piece of driftwood, cut into fragments fitting inside and between the aquariums. Plants were mostly Riccia fluitans, Staurogyne repens, Heminathus callitrichoides and Pogostemon helferi, with one reddish accent added by Rotala sp. Aquariums were stocked with freshwater shrimps Cristal Red, and with Nothobranchius rachovii killifish.
The company C.E. Fish Essentials is a dealer of various tropical fish food, mostly frozen. There was one aquarium at the booth of this company, stocked with Altum Angelfish and some Discus.
The company Star Fisheries is a "manufacturer" of fancy goldfish. There was one large aquarium at this booth, without any aquatic plants, just bare glass and glodfish.
And finally, the booth of Crocodiles of the world didn't have any aquarium at all, but it had a plastic pool, where some crocodiles were kept. There was also a possibility to hold a juvenile crocodile for a while - an amazing attraction, especially for the kids! :)

Hmm, the light might be manufactured by Tropical Marine Centre - both the LED tile and the arm, I think it's called "MountARay" (page 46 of their aquatic catalogue available on their website :) )
My takeway was from this video was "Aquarium Ideas= PUT A CROCODILE IN THERE"
Hmmm, I think all of them will do... Starting from Cladophora (which is an algae, but it still looks good), through some small Cryptocorynes, Utricularia graminifolia, Eleocharis sp., up to the Blyxa japonica, which requires a bit stronger light and CO2 supplementation. It also depends on what species/variety of Betta you think of - there are some definitely not suitable for brightly illuminated planted aquarium.
I love your tanks and the substrate that is used. To me Black substrate is better because it highlights the fish colors and the plants.
Ehhh, good old days when I was visiting London for the first time... It was a real fun to go there, there was a very special atmosphere at Aquatic Live. Unfortunately, they cancelled this show this year... :/

What kind of shrimp were they? They looked like Indonesia Striped Bubblenest Shrimp
I think they are manufactured by Dennerle, but don't know any details. Why don't you drop an email to AquaJardin (they even have a RUclips channel) and ask them yourself? :)
Love shrimp, wish they weren't so damn expensive..

Maybe ghost shrimp but cherry shrimp or anything with color, if you buy them at a store you're going to pay up to $6/shrimp! Where do you get your shrimp from?

Ha, to że to są największe targi to akurat prawda - dla zwykłej publiczności większych targów nie ma w UK. Są targi branżowe, ale tam wpuszczają tylko pracowników z branży. Ale fakt, organizatorzy Aquatics Live trochę się niefortunnie reklamują z tym "największe", bo jest to prawda, ale wprowadza trochę w błąd, ludzie się spodziewają że to będzie wieeeeeelkie. Myślę że w UK nie da się zobaczyć ciekawych ryb i akwariów na targach. W tym raczej przoduje kontynent :)

No, to fakt, to chyba najbardziej oryginalne akwarium tych targów :)
Hej :) Fajnie że się film podoba :) Co do roślin, to na korzeniu jest wgłębka Riccia fluitans, po prawej z przodu "dywanik" Hemianthus callitrichoides (być może odmiana 'Cuba', bo cholernie drobny jest), te jasnozielone krzaczki w centrum, z karbowanymi liśćmi, to Pogostemon helferi. Łodygowców z tyłu nie jestem pewien :)
Super film. Mam prośbę do znawców. Możecie opisać roślinki które widać w 2.15? Szukam jakiś niskich roślinek do krewetkarium.

Ja wlasnie wrócilem z tegorocznego Aquatic Live i jestem zawiedziony, reklamowane jako najwieksze show w uk myslalem ze bedzie 10 razy wieksze. Gdzie najlepiej sie wybrac w uk zeby zobaczyc ciekawe ryby i akwaria? pozdrawiam filmy super.
I can see that a lot of these tanks here use dwarf baby tears, but my question is that if I’m I should use like root tabs or co2 if I’m planting dwarf baby tears. If so what fertilizer should I use. Also do dwarf baby tears need good lighting?

Hello I am Building a new fish tank but every time i try to arrange the plants i get it wrong. I need some inspiration, like if you posted a video just on plants for freshwater aquariums that would be awesome.

Thanks :) What do you mean by "putting the filter on the aquarium"? Like "putting the filter on top of the aquarium" (so the filter literally stands on the tank) or just "can you use filter in an aquascaped aquarium"?

***** It's not an airstone, it's CO2 diffuser. How to get one? The easiest way would be to buy it in your nearest aquarium store.
DefiniteAquascapeTV iv been searching for as ir stones w fine bubbles. sounds like your saying all diffusors in all local aqurium stores look and function like this. us that correct?
also if o can i get it to simply attatch to an air pump instead and function accordingly.

Hi,do you happen to know the measures of the aquarium from which branch goes from the tank to the tank and so the lower three aquariums,so I am only interested in what they measure.
I think all three are DoAqua! Mini M aquariums, dimensions 36x22x26 cm.

Hey mate, that's a very good idea about the video on plants. I can consider this in my future projects :) As for now, I have lots of videos showing particular planted tanks, with the list of plants. These tank do NOT have holes :) The driftwood is cut into fragments, and some of these fragments are put into tanks, and some are glued to glass walls outside, between tanks :)

Do people support the breeders of those Goldfish, I mean, would you buy something like that? They must struggle a lot just to keep themselves alive, wrong if you ask me.
Doldei Not only peopl buy these fish - sometimes they cost a fortune! Unfortunately, peoples tastes not always go along with animal well-being... :/
DefiniteAquascapeTV I know some brands don't ( like Sera ). Actually they make a note in their goldfish maintenance instructions that they not support nor they will exibit mutations of Goldfish. I had no ideia people did that, if you don't care for the fish well being and health, why do people buy them? Must be vanity and show-off ...
Doldei Well, of course you're right. Anyways, I think some people (or even most of them) just don't think in such categories. They don't understand that the fish is a living organism. I mean, they DO know it's alive, but they just don't realise the whole context of being a fish, adapted to particular environment etc. They just don't "feel" biology.
I dont see anything wrong with them and if you ask me their life is no different from any other fish, They had good movement, were swimming just fine, very colourful so obviously they are healthy and well fed and I imagine the only pissed off one was the silly looking one with fins coming off its face, The thing looks like it was constantly chasing its face trying to eat it. I see nothing wrong with selective breeding. Hell its been going on for years! how do you think you got the cow meat you eat on a regular and enjoy. Selective breeding... How do you think 75% of the dog population and cat population came to be what it is today.. Selective breeding, There are over 400 recognized breeds of dog and the all originated from the ancient wolf, One single breed and there are apparently only 50 ancient breeds of dog that all our known 400+ breeds came from. Nothing wrong with this, Just another way of creating something unique and collectible
DefiniteAquascapeTV But isn't the hole purpose of aquarism to create and maintain a sustainable ecosystem in your house? Were the fishes may behave like they do in nature? I know some people may not be this sensitive to animals, but it amazes me, every single time it happens! I'm all about the Biotope thing, even though I find it a bit hard not to mix breeds from different biotopes. I just bought a 103L aquarium, the filter is being colonized by bacteria, a few more days and I will be able to introduce the fishes. My question: Will my Betta get lost in all that water and strong flow? Eheheheh!
