BRGY. MACABALAN SEGMENT| Project Update as of April 2024🏗️🌉
This is the continuation of bridge construction (viaduct) connecting two barangays Brgy. Macabalan and Brgy. Bonbon at the Cagayan de Oro river. It is also part of the CDO-New Western Diversion Road.
This Bridge has a total length of 1,231 meters. This bridge project includes the substructure Roadway
Lighting. Pavement Markings, and concrete railings. And the second project was the rehabilitation of
the concrete pavement having two section. Section A and B was located at Julio Pacana St
Valenzuela Road going to Phillppine Ports and Authority. This projects will construct four (4) lanes with and shoulder and box canal approximately 200meters in section A and for section B four (4) 1lanes with shoulder and box canal and Roadway Lighting 200 meters in length.
PROJECT IMPACT:
The project will help decongest traffic in the city proper and eventually provide comfortable access to the travelling public. Upon completion of the project it will reduce travel time from 30 mins to 10 mins.

Bai a few queries:
- Reduce time travel fm 30 to 10 min - from where and up to what point?
- Provide comfort to traveling public (dili man siguro - the current entry and exit for ship travelers given the taxis, bao bao, motorelas, jeeps and colorums whenever a boat is arriving or departing is already a nightmare. The moment trucks especially 10 wheelers will be rerouted into that bridge and viaduct, i could just imagine the horror it will bring.
Consider this scenario: 2 lane bridge which curves into that viaduct and a truck losses its break or collides to another will surely result into a traffic pandemonium. Not your fault though but of DPWH. It should have continued with the original plan (straight and eventually find its way to the intersection at the main road near the PNP Station). It would be different kung 4 lane bridge sya and make it one way (into the port area thru the intersection at the main road AND From the port area to western CDO or MisOr thru the viaduct. That way, mas hapsay sya.
TO DPWH:
, the road widening in Bonbon should start now. Also, the road to connect Bayabas to Bonbon (there is an unfinished 4-lane road) should be straight. Dili na unta mag liko-liko for a few meters kay naay g likayan or naay g accomodate dahil mayaman may ari, may connection, kamaganak and ka bro. Known ra ba kaayo mga planners dir sa DPWH. The agency in cdo is known to start so many projects na walay kahumanan (Paging city hall and congressmen concerned). Kung mahuman man galing dugaaaaaaay kaayo.
Consider the following roads in CDO:
- Junction of the Canitoan-Opol in Cantitoan bypass road naay glikayan.
- Cantoan-Iponan shortcut road klaro kaayo kanang dakong balay diha glikayan.
- JR Borja extension after Maria Reyna Hospital to intersection Camaman-an -Limketkair Road. Mga 150 meters murag halas galiko liko.
If other DPWH offices can do it straight in other cities or provinces, why can’t they do it in CDO? Please wake up!
