Luke 14:15-24 Excuses To Not Serving God (1 Jn 2:15-29)
Vs 15-24, The marriage supper invite is rejected by supposed friends
The excuses:
Bought land and must go see it
Desires of some men are focused on what this world can provide but buy before they have seen, and don’t know what they are getting, guess they like surprises not a promise and detailed wedding supper with the Lamb
Bought five yoke of oxen and must prove them
Stuff and pleasures of this world is all they can think about, trying the next new thing, so that they don’t have time of commitment to godly attributes.
Brought home a wife so I cannot come
Believe family is the ultimate joy of this man centered world, and that they are more important than developing a relationship with God. Basically, their family is their idol and what they seek to cherish in this life they will lose in the next.
All of these have misplaced priorities and they believe God is fine with this because they are “good” and successful people, but God is angry with them
Don’t make the world a priority over the kingdom of God 1 Jn 2:15-29
Vs 15, Loving the world over loving the Father, you cannot do both
Vs 16, For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Vs 17, the world will not last forever
Vs 18, It is the spirit of anti-Christ
Vs 19, pretenders choose the world
Vs 20-21, they accept lies as truth
Vs 22-23, there is a denial of Jesus: His calling and work in you
Vs 24
Luk 14:23-24, God wants His house filled with those who love Him
1 Jn 2
Vs 24, they abide in Jesus
Vs 25, they have eternal life
Vs 26-27, they are given the anointing of truth
Vs 28, ready for Jesus to return
Vs 29, truly born again
