Dear John, I am new to your channel. Shortly before I retired, I became an espiring foodie. So, I have subscribed to a couple food channels. I have made several of your dishes with good results, so I bought your cook book, haven't had time to look through it yet, but, I will soon and am looking forward to it. I am writing to you just to mention something I noticed about your little Lachlan, (hope I spelled it right.) In an earlier video I noticed that he has a speech impediment, a frontal lisp. But, you mentioned in the same video that he was 4 years old, and, since frontal lisps usually resolve around year 6 to 8, I dismissed it. But, while watching the New York trip, I got to see a few more examples of the impairment that made me think that it would be best to express my concerns just in case you, as the parent were not aware. The main concern was that there was an incident or 2 that your husband had to wipe Lachlan's mouth, which could indicate drooling, and mouth breathing. Additionally, what I could see of his swallowing pattern indicates tongue thrusting swallowing pattern. All these oral behaviors indicate weak oral musculature that could lead to non-resolution of the lisping behavior, choking, possible pushing the upper frontal arch out of alignment, and decreasing speech intelligibility as he gets older. If you have not consulted with a speech therapist in your area, you probably should, just to be on the safe side. Also, I strongly recommend that you get the opinion of a therapist in private practice who has experience with tongue thrusters, dysphagia, and oral motor exercise programs. Orthodontists and/or ASHA.ORG may be able to point you in the direction of a therapist who can help you if you haven't already looked into it. At the very least the therapist can do an endepth evaluation, much better than my poor attempt while watching the videos. Love your recipes!! Good luck!!
I believe there were two many segments that went into the first dessert you made. More doesn't always mean better. As a very experienced baker, I would never bother with this recipe. 🤔
