I'm going to be embarking on a lot of short story writing very soon as part of my university course. Hope a collection comes out of it. And when are we going to be seeing Paradolia in action? I am dying to read it!
I wrote novel in which it contains interconnected stories all connected under a theme and one central character that goes from story to story...I hope to get that published one day...
Great content sis! If considering publishing short stories at all id say be conscious of the massive amount of work thats not writing. Id add (if able) perform, perform, perform. The network effect, audience n name recog makes a huge difference for buzz & publishing opportunities. If folks know youre a solid performer with good content, it goes a super long way. Ive been published maybe 5 or 6 times and all commissions and extra time spent assessing my work come from brand recognition due to solid public performances and poetry/story competitions ive won in the real world. Even if youre not a perfomer, get out there and read.. also makes ya collections have a vibe n grow stronger. Also, make radio show friends.. If ya not ready for 24/7 work dont even consider self publishing and any level of success
Wanting to write a series of short stories surrounding cannabis legalization or lack of in Kentucky's case, and the cultural and political sides, actually would be able to cover alot of socio economic issues across Appalachia, spanning the last 100 yrs or so. Historical fiction/political thriller. Silas House meets Daniel Woodral, meets Jeffrey Lent. This is my premise. Figure I'd start with short stories and progress to novella, and novel.
hi shaelin! I was wondering how exactly you identify whether a magazine is 'reputable'? Maybe that's a weird question, but there are so many lit mags that I feel completely overwhelmed.
A google search is always helpful, and of course read the fine print on their website to see what they say about rights. It's also never a bad idea to get referrals of what magazines to submit to from people you trust!
What about a collection like a simpson-esque family, with recurring characters and 5 to 7k long stories? I finished the first book and now going to the second in this theme.
A very clear and precise presentation. Easy to follow but also leaves you thinking. Thank you 🙏🏼
The information that I was looking for... And love ur voice...

Me too! Are you doing a creative writing dissertation or a portfolio for a certain class?
Writing the story is not hard for me, it's the getting it published on Amazon, kindle etc. setup that's overwhelming!
Excellent advice! I plan to construct my own chapbook in this manner, but to an extent. Thank you! ❤
this is pure gold!!!!!!
Would you please... please make a video on writing existential or cosmic horror or Lovecraftian horror? Please!
YES PLEASE!
I planned to write a book like a TV series. Each chapter has a self-contained story arc with established character cast.
That's exactly what I'm thinking of doing but I don't know how to structure it properly
Each chapter can have a three-structure story arc, but they have to be short.
@@milestrombley1466 thank you and can the collections themselves be interlinked?
@@milestrombley1466 and did you mean 3 act structure
Of course.

I’ve been thinking about doing one of these
This information was excellent and helpful. Thanks.

is it ever ok to make a collection of short stories that are not connected in any way (through theme, motives etc.)?
So can the stories be different but in one book?
Yes, that's exactly what a collection is!
Do you have short stories published that we can read

If you want to publish your work in reputed anthologies please reply to this.
Lots of useful information but the delivery was too fast (for me, at least) to take in without cutting the playback speed to .75.
U r voice nice

I don't appreciate your accent being inconsistent only on "process."
