Why didn’t they tell everyone before coming to the audition. The type of dancers they’re looking for so hip hop dancers don’t go home after like turning up which is so rude
That's so true I'd be so mad if I'd spent an hour coming or something 🙃 It could've still had dramatic effect if half the previous a troupers don't even turn up, nor extras, the room is just a few dancers, and then in episode 2 the hip hop dancers could be seen again returning when Michelle calls them

I personally think it was kinda rude of Emily and Daniel to kick off all the hip hop dancers because, first of all, they should have at least told everyone that they weren't looking for hip hop dancers BEFORE the audition. I also felt it was very uncharacteristic of Emily and Daniel to completely dismiss the hip hop dancers because Emily has said that she likes Hunter's dance style, and Daniel did a hip hop/ballet duet with West in season 1, and a hip hop/ballet trio with Chloe and Hunter in season 2. Also, they have had hip hop dancers on A-Troupe before and won. I also feel like they would appreciate and acknowledge all styles, not just the technical ones, so yeah that decision rly confused me.

Emily did not want to have any hip hop dancers but she had a crush on Hunter , West and her sister's boyfriend is a hip hop dancer .

It frustrated me so much when Emily kicked off the Hiphop and Breakdancers. She literally said “we won’t win regionals without them” but I don’t get it because West and James won internationals with the team. Hunter won Nationals with the team and was Emily’s boyfriend. So it really didn’t make sense to me, I mean I loved Emily when she came back for season 4 but then when I watched season 5 she was a completely different person to when we saw her last. I loved her after but I was just sooo confused.
Video idea: you could rank your favourite plot twists from The Next Step, such as Amanda being an agent and then the alternate, Latroy and Amy getting together, Piper and Finn kissing, Michelle getting her own troupe, the promise-ring scene, James rapping in The other Man, and random characters coming back in later seasons.
That’s what I wanted like rivalries aswell

It's crazy that Michelle this season says that the contemporary is boring, this being her style.
I didn't like it very much this season because so much drama so that in the end they didn't compete, it was a bit disappointing.

Personally, I would have swapped Zara and Noah's ranking, but I respect your opinion. I never really realised how good Zara's audition was until watching the clips you put in. Thanks for putting time and effort into giving us this Sunday's content! ❤️

I really enjoyed hearing your opinion on Emily and Daniel kicking off the hip hop dancers, and I think you made some very good points, especially about how technique doesn't just mean ballet, lyrical, and contemporary technique, it can also mean hip hop technique as well! I also agree that Zara's audition is soo underrated, and my favourite auditions are Noah, Jacquie, Henry, Zara, Michelle, Amy, and Richelle, although I wish she had more facials

If Emily didn't want Hip Hop dancers and kicked off La Troy, why did she even allow Henry to audition? Plot hole.
Maybe She only choose the ones with most potential to enter the team like Josh and Henry
might be because Henry can tumble, so he's a little more versatile than LaTroy, but totally agree haha
Still to this day I love pipers audition and that turn to the ground I think it’s one of the best.

There weren't any 😅 (if there were, please remind me) So I'm skipping straight to s7 to re-evaluate the alternate auditions. I did already rank the auditions they did for the Stacy Carpenter scholarship though so I guess that could be my S6 one?

I acc agree with Emily's philosophy for the most part; she had a vision for *her* team to be a certain way. In this scenario the hop hop dancers can basically only do just that style, but she wanted the classical training as well. I guess IRL it would have been obvious to auditionees the kind of dancers she wanted, so those who didn't fit in to that wouldn't have auditioned in the first place and would have looked for a better fit.
Oh absolutely she can have whatever she wants for her team, but I think it would've made more sense if a new character came in with that mindset, rather than two people we know would be open to the idea of having hip hop dancers and hip hop elements to their group dances. Plus it was their phrasing and reasoning that was an issue for me. Like you said, if it had literally just been a case of 'I'm looking to create a team where everyone is trained in ballet and is a more lyrical, ballet, contemporary dancer' then sure it'd be new and make people question if they want to stay, but it would be fair. Just don't don't people's hopes up and dismiss them infront of other people, making those look better than them, embarrassing them and causing a scene 😅
This may be an unpopular opinion but it’s the truth:
-while it was wrong for her to not let them have a chance to audition, I totally understand where they were coming from. They were looking for a certain style of dancers. Emily doesn’t have a lot of hip hop experience so she knew she wouldn’t be able to lead a hip hop team to a win. and if they had a load of different styles the dances would not work as well. While it may have been harsh for her to cut people, that’s what happens in the professional in the industry and if they reacted that way at a professional job that would be unacceptable
I think the idea is fine but the way she did it and the way they worded it wasn't. I replied this to someone else but she could have told them prior to arriving, rather than embarrassing them and making them step forward before they'd even tried in my opinion
Then have choreographers like west and then Daniel and if you think of it they should know all styles if they want to lead a team

The season 5 dances were pretty decent, but the season as a whole was pretty boring
I think it was one of the best seasons for actually showing them working hard, rehearsing, and bettering themselves. Plots like Amy's mom and Richelle's hip were great! But I think it's so weak compared to others because of the unnecessary, rehashed Emily and Michelle drama, splitting the team, unrealistic things (dancing for 12 hours straight lol) and the fact there was no big ending. It felt like a filler season.

I don’t see why Emily kicked the hip hop dancers off because she is Emily and we know from earlier seasons that she appreciates all styles and knows you need variety of styles at competition.
That was weird i guess she let the power get to her head

It's still really strange to me that Michelle got Eldon in to choreograph a contemporary section in this season when it was her strongest style? I get that West choreographed a hip hop routine for TNS West but Michelle was more than capable of adding in some elements of contemporary to the routine.
Literally 😂 It would've made more sense if maybe Michelle was busy doing something so got eldon in but why did she forget she was a contemporary dancer the whole season 🤣

I think Emily's approach made sense (Michelle on the other hand :/), because we know from s1 that she struggled branching out in dance moves/styles and therefore didn't like choreographing outside of her comfort zone (which was more classical). Also there is the unfortunate 'technique is ballet' mindset in dance competitions, which make it more of a risk performing hip-hop than contemporary (I think Hunter even mentions how hard it is to execute a hip-hop routine at nationals?) so Emily's mindset that they won't win without 'technique' could be more about how it's a safer route to securing a win (and would've have made at lot more sense if she said so but I guess the writers needed Emily to be cutthroat about it in order to create the Michemily drama lol). Loved the video btw!
If she had explained her reasoning exactly the way you said it, I think it would have been PERFECT, as it was just the wording and the execution of the plot that I didn't like

I'm thinking that Emily and Daniel aren't comfortable with doing hip hop and honestly I can relate. If I made a team, I would only have ballet and contemporary because that's what I'm okay with. Also, when acro nation came nobody was mad at them for having an only acro team . That's just because they weren't mean about it. I just think that her pride took over so she was rude but really she was saying she was uncomfortable with choreographing a hip hop dance. That was a lot of typing lol

That’s interesting I actually think that season 5 was one of Noah’s weakest auditions, it was still incredible don’t get me wrong but I actually think Michelle and Richelle had the best audition.
I don’t think richelle actually repeated the trick in her solo, I think it was the editors fault for showing it twice. As I can see they are from two different angles, so I think it was the same trick from two different takes. Because we know that they shoot the dance scenes multiple times.
I think so too but ultimately in the tns universe, it was done twice, you know? So just had to consider that!

I agree with you in general. Maybe I would put Piper a bit higher because she danced amazingly, but I can totally see your point!
Ballet the foundation of all dance styles? I don't think so... Every culture has different styles, and yeah, ballet is beautiful, but a ballerina normally is a little bit stiff in a latin's style. I love ballet, but in Latin America we do salsa, merengue, punta, tango, bachata, and you just feel the music, you dance because you feel it, we have fun while we dance.

Wait when Emily told the non technical dancers to leave surley Henry should've left and wouldn't have been able to audition because he's strictly a hip hop dancer isn't he
Emily told specific people to go, she didn't choose Henry (not sure why haha, maybe because he can tumble and LaTroy couldnt?) They didn't leave on their own behalf 😊

I have a what if idea. What if the next step never did "the challenge" in season two. (the challenge they did after regionals to get new dancers)
i think they should’ve either told the dancers before the auditions instead of humiliating them, or let them audition.
guys I need help it’s a sunday and all day since 7:30am I’ve been doing school work and it is now literally 7:30pm and I’m only halfway through everything I still have 4 more subjects to study and do my homework for on top of that I have like 7 assessments OMG IM STRESSING. 😭

Michelle doesn’t hate contemporary she just likes hip hop a bit more, you see that in season four where she wants to learn more of it and in season one when she’s battling to be dance captain(the dance where Stephanie messes up on purpose), she incorporates a lot of hip hop moves
I totally get that, but the way they made Michelle sound was like she had no care for it. I would've much preferred her to respond to Emily saying how Daniel is better than West (in the off season) with something like 'both styles are as good as each other, they both have their wow factor, I'd love to be as good at hip hop as West'. So not rejecting the idea of 'technique' but showing that she appreciates all styles, unlike Emily who prefers ballet/contemporary

Just cause someone dances contemporary and say they like hip hop more, it doesn’t mean anything cause you can be *forced* to only dance a certain dance style cause of the dance studio you train at. There are restrictions.

I think the part where you said Richelle repeated a move I think that was just a error in the editing process that made it look like she repeated a move
She does it twice in the extended version too. I thought the same originally but she definitely does repeat it
