Although the movies was trash. It had a lot of powerful scenes that portray the tragedy of war in a way I have never seen before. This exact part of the movie is my favorite, it has great sense of humor, but at the same time sad as fuck.
Although the story is clearly driven by people who are supposed to be death, the movie shows very realistically Soviet disorder and un preparation for war during 1941. Very unusual for a Russian movie which make it great.
No disorder and tremendous disorder at same time it's a war .... Penal battalion dying rate is very high those that survive can join regulat troops they have nothing to loose there is nothing worse than death in a first battle... hence attitude towards death , they are dead already...no fear just like Vagner Group today so elite soldiers have nothing to help them at all
This movie is beautifully shot. Technically perfect. And it totally shits all over the whole story of the first Burnt by the Sun. Kotov was shot in 1938. But, by some miracle, he wasn't. Don't ask how. Mironov committed suicide in his bathtub. But he didn't. Don't ask how. Gimme a break.
EPIC, Front Soldiers Morale against The Elite's Etiquette !
This one scene makes me want to watch the entire film.
the entire film is absolutely shit

It's an epic trilogy, a masterpiece, beautiful, terrible, & heart-scouring.
