My favorite Megadeth drummer of all time.. it'll will never change! Gar was the man, didn't need a lavish 40 piece drum set. This guy was the real deal!!!
I only remember that during Rude awakening DVD, De Grasso is cheating on this song by using double bass where the original drum track uses single kicks. This doesn't mean the performance overall isn't awesome, but still....
I’ve noticed Gar only seemed to use double bass when playing 16th notes while blasting on the ride. He used offbeat quarter notes to mimic 16th note double bass while blasting on the hats so he had control of how open the hats were.
@@YamatoTorisuI agree. Perfect 1/6 and 1/8 notes. snare rolls are amazing.thd single adds to his already jazzy beats along with the ride symbol this guy did not need a huge kit to sound amazing and these are his beats.great drummer.
Snare rolls, single kick and the ride cymbals are garrs bread and butter.amezing hand speed and groove.
Surprised no one mentioned the stick click at 2:38. Very subtle.
even crazier, I think this is all one take.

I love his sound. The kick drum and snare aren't over whelming like they usually are, it is very 'delicate' but you still know it was hit.
Such an underrated drummer holy shit, I love coming back to this every now and then
Also Gar, you butthead, what was that at 1:39, I’m always finding stuff with his drumming that makes me go “wait what, what did he do”
@@87markroxit's his ghost notes!
only noobs say Gar is 'underrated'.
Head phones take it to a whole other level.
Damn Gar had it. Feel and groove and dynamics Up through and out the yin yang
Haha, best description yet
In comparison to Killing, definitely. Perfect contrast of technical beauty and raw energy.
So much swing and dynamics.
Gar Samuelson.. one of the reasons why i chose to beat the drums!!!
The late great Gar Samuelson

you can hear he was a jazzer.
Hehe Im going to ruin this track with my pentatonic playing 😈
Damn, I love this fucker!
Don't show this Lars Ulrich.
2:20 how tf did he sneak that in and land on the beat..
@andrei turcu drover wouldnt even be able to play it :P
Sounds so natural. I wouldn't be surprised if he basically played like this the first time he picked up some sticks.
Thomas Lee I’m pretty sure no one can play like this if they have never played drums at all.

Such a shame Dave ruined this magnificent sound in his lame remix.
Lol, this isolated track from remix :)
