The single most criminally underrated show in DCI history. Lost of corps TALK about innovating... this corps DID innovate. Introducing live mixing and looping was something never seen before in DCI (unless you count two chords in Tilt).
@@TheRabbitHasLanded The problem with the show was there was no poetry at all. There were literally no words to help develop and support the theme. Poetry, even referenced off the field outside the show, would have been a welcome addition to help heighten the concept and give it depth. By the way, all drum corps shows are about sounds and waves of motion, so how is this one different? How are this show's ripple effects different from the tons of ripple effects done throughout the activity that year? How is the end different from the beginning? This show had an underdeveloped theme of sound wave theory, and lacked specificity, humanity, emotion and resonance. But it sounded great, created some magical visual moments, and sure was pretty to watch. It didn't need dialogue, dance, singing, story or characters. It needed meaning. Third place.
I don’t know why, but I got a lot of meaning from this show. I think the fact it’s so abstract means it can take any meaning the viewer wants it to be, sorta like T/LT. It seems to give off some sort of sentimental and also poetic vibe for me, especially with Steve Reich and “Woods” as source music, both intelligent and sentimental pieces. At least it has a constant theme, and it’s not all over the place. It feels like one show.
They deliver an ABSOLUTELY INSANE performance and then the 3 people that clap at the end gets me every time. (Granted, it's a rehearsal, there probably wouldn't have been very many there)
This show is a dizzying display of utter AWESOMENESS!!!!! They did not get their just rewards that year for such an amazingly difficult show. Definitely in my top 10 of ALL TIME!!!!
I didn't think of it, but I think the percussion judge for the bluecoats that year described their music as minimalist and clean. Dont quote me on that tho

This, tilt, and downside up are three of the most satisfying shows I've ever seen
i keep saying it, the mid 2010s were the golden age for the coats
4:56 the lead in to the impact just gives me chills every time

This show screams underrated
Tkibbs14 the drumline was so underrated. This show was a masterpiece
@@TheRabbitHasLanded What was the show about?
Jesu Spectre it’s an abstract adventure through the sounds and waves in motion through its drill and music. It’s poetry in motion.

That ballad is like a little piece of heaven on earth
none of us were ready for this show the first time we saw it
Full honesty I thought it sucked the first time I listened to it. It's now my favorite.
They deliver an ABSOLUTELY INSANE performance and then the 3 people that clap at the end gets me every time. (Granted, it's a rehearsal, there probably wouldn't have been very many there)
The last minute is literally the most chill inducing thing I’ve ever heard. I can’t watch it without the hairs on the back of my neck sticking up.
Can we just appreciate how full the drumline sounds in that measure at 3:39?
Nathan Winters I cant stop listening to it
its so good dude
If BD didn’t play as ballsy as they did in 2015, this would’ve been a Sanford line easily.
That saber toss at 9:03 was so damn perfect
The opener is so unique and satisfying
4:18 THAT RIFLE RIPPLE GOD BLESS
This show is a dizzying display of utter AWESOMENESS!!!!! They did not get their just rewards that year for such an amazingly difficult show. Definitely in my top 10 of ALL TIME!!!!
Woods will forever be my favorite Bluecoats ballad of all time
And the most intense and probably also my favorite closer
One of the most innovative shows of all time. This is the future of the marching arts. Y’all ain’t ready to hear it yet… ;)
My lord that ballad. Im not crying you are!
I keep expecting the mellos to do the Bb C E C Bb from tilt at 1:44
That hand to hand at 5:36 omfg

Here in 2021 , still an amazing show
It’s 2024 and this is still my favorite show of all time
At about 12:10 the light above the drum major's is in tempo lolol
+Jacob Koch indeed it was.
The echo at 12:19-12:23, good lord.
All of the Bluecoats releases are magnificent
This is the first time I actually watched this show and holy crap I have been missing out!
MY GOD!! This is amazing thanks so much!!
Probably one of the best rehearsals to sit through haha.
5:36 god DAMN basses that hand to hand was
CLEEEEEEEEEEAAN
3:57 i dont think its legal to have a contra feature this sexy
I still fucking love this show
such a good show
still 10/10 in 2022
9:50 my favorite part. Honestly I think it sounds like it's from Spartacus (Phantom Regiment 2008)
It's an excerpt from "Dense" by Univers Zero
A bit controversial, but this show fits so well with synthesizers, a lot more than I feel other shows have.
Colorguard run was 🔥🔥🔥
4:16 3rd guy from the left slips
Craig Loeffler, you're such a badassssss
agreed lol
Drum Corp in 1080p 60fps should be illegal
Corps*
Technically, it's illegal at 144p
No its amazing
At least on RUclips. High quality porn isn't good anywhere.
Technically its illegal because of stupid copyright laws
I can't what to see them in the finals
Spring Training... here 2018
Is no one gonna comment on all the hats that the pit threw?
At 2:59 I always expect the tilt pitch shift 😂
Great video
Nice comment
Nice reply
LOTS of Steve Reich in this show! Is it like a 'minimalism' show?
I didn't think of it, but I think the percussion judge for the bluecoats that year described their music as minimalist and clean. Dont quote me on that tho
how do they only have one championship 😭
5:26 😍
That hit at 11:35 is PHAT
what song is at 6:05? What did they base it off of? If it's shaker loops, what time stamp on the video?
The song is Bon Iver's 'Woods'
At 6:05 its "Gene takes a drink". at 6:15 it's "woods"
Bon Iver “The Woods” or Kanye West “Lost in the World”
Is that Sam in the backfield??
Yes
you're waiting to make the massillon encore the last video from the season... arent you? >.>
I just fall asleep to this song
Seriously though I've done the same thing
trumpet feature at 4:20 SLAPS
60 fps?
Can someone tell me what the voice over during the percussion feature is saying? I can’t make out the words
Neither can I. I've been wondering that for a long time.

Fucking marvelous I love Bloo
How do they do that thing at 5:36? Is just a really fast trill or something?
Yes
can we also get a mention of the basses? Those hand to hands are deadly if not played right!
@@benkessler4439 okay but for real tho those hand to hands are crazy
does anyone know what is being said at the part after the ballad? I caught "yes brother, I know" but I can't make out anything else
