Sure and there are a lot of more. Check for example "Where were you last night" (2 versions by Anki Bagger and Nightwish) or "If you were a woman and I was a man" (again 2 versions by Bonnie Tyler and Robin Beck). Then these two and the list can go on and on.
Both these songs have the same songwriter, Desmond Child, who also worked on a Bonnie Taylor song with the same progression called “If You Were a Woman (and I Was a Man).
i have a problem where i get random songs stuck in my head, but i can rarely remember all the lyrics, so i inadvertently make mashups without much thought if they sound similar. just found the link between these, so i'm glad to see they work lol.
Speaking of inadvertent mashups, I always go from the refrain of Kings and Queens to the instrumental part of Fingers Crossed! Just can't remember how Kings and Queens continues :)
i heard you give love a bad name for the first time recently and felt it was really familiar. i was gonna make a mashup for kings and queen and you give love a bad name but you did it before me xD. prolly better than what i can do ever
I think a mashup of Kings & Queens, You give love a bad name and Bonnie Tyler's "If you were a woman and i was a man", (all written by the same guy with a few changes) would be great!!!!
I've listened to couple of mashups, I must confess, nothing come close to this in terms of perfection. Just heard Kings & Queens a couple of minutes ago and to be honest, this is a very good song but something kept telling me Bon Jovi must have influenced this song. This mashup just satisfied my curiosity. Thanks Bon Jovi, Great song, Ava Max and fantastic mashup guys.
If Pitch Perfect had a 4th installment, this will surely be a banging mashup fit for the Barden Bellas vs. The Treblemakers. It'll look so cool to witness Becca and Jesse sing this on a Rip-Off Showdown
Love this. There's a Christmas song that comes to mind that sounds like these two, though certainly not in terms of speed and rhythm. I'll have to give the old disc a listen, I believe it's about a child being born.
One of the best mashups I've heard. And I agree, Kings & Queens sounded so familiar when I first heard it. But I thank TikTok for putting this version on.
I listened to both songs and I like them very much. The songs are very similar to each other but the combination of both songs is brilliant. I love this MIX
AHH- this is it. I knew kings & queens was sampling from another song but couldn't think of what song.. I even thought" maybe you give love a badname" but thought it wasn't right..
@@wietseB1997 only the first 4 notes match. that song repeats those first 4 notes throughout the song. break my heart changes the octave throughout the song.
It sounds the same, because it is the same. Kings & Queens samples the Bonnie Tyler song If You Were A Woman (And I Was Your Man). And that song was later rewritten as You Give Love A Bad Name, after the Tyler song didn't chart too well.
At this point, a lot of musicians repeat what was already done because the mainstream musicians are too afraid to experiment, they have to follow a certain trend. This isn't the case for Bon Jovi or other bands of their time who were the "musical scientists".
At work we've had WHUD playing in the background and "Kings and Queens" by Ava Max, has been playing a lot. It's been pretty much my first time listening it. It's been bugging me because I'm just sitting there like "I actually fuckin like this song" and could not think of why. I've even been singing it to myself and youtubing it. WTF mate?! Then I started thinking about it, disregarding the lyrics, and dissecting the cadence and melody of the hook. And I realized... Holy shit, this is "You Give Love a Bad Name" by Bon Jovi!!! And now I can't unhear it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who came to this realization
I'd like to but there isn't any stems for if I was a man. If I get some time over I might try and isolate an acapella myself, but I can't promise anything :)
Easy explication: Desmond Child wrote a song “If you were a woman” for Bonnie Tyler. But he wasn’t satisfied with the success of the song, so when he started work with Bon Jovi, he brought them this song and it was completely rewritten by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. Child kept a writting credit for a “Bad Name”, because he was main writer of the first version for Tyler only. After years Child wrote a new version again for Ava Max.
DAN PHER actually if I remember correctly when Gaga Did Born this Way she was bringing back the old tunes with a futuristic twist to it. What’s crazy is she got ridiculed for it but basically paved the way for the girls today.... just a thought maybe to remind the new girls where the inspiration comes from... ❤️
I always thought that Kings and Queens sounds familiar.

They were both written by Desmond Child so it makes sense. He's been writing the same great hook for 35 years.
