The astrina starfish I pulled over 25 out and my hammer coral has not opened up either my tank and the water levels is what it is supposed to be at idk what else to do to make it open

Do you know if asterina starfish were the problem? It can also be a water parameter issues as hammer corals are large polyp stony corals requiring higher calcium and magnesium levels. Is a fish stressing it out? Is it in a higher to moderate water flow area? Is the light intensity too high or too low?

@@Joels_Animals ok well I ordered a wave maker also my salinity is good none of my fish seem stressed so I think it’s something in the water I also have marine buffer will that help? also your live rocks videos really helped me out and you should also make a coral video or a video on hammer corals

@@itsjeremy6995 thank you I’m really glad they helped! Marine buffer is good as it will help in keeping the ph at moderate levels which is around 8.3 in a reef tank. Having a wave maker is really good too. Are you able to test your calcium levels? If there’s a harmful chemical stressing out corals in your tank i would recommend running activated carbon in your filtration. Also i believe they need moderate lighting.

@@Joels_Animals yes I have light and no I need to get a thing to check my calcium which I think that has to be the problem and what would you recommend me to buy to get my calcium checked?

There are digital testers with the most accurate being from a company called Hanna checkers however they are quite expensive and prices can range up to $60. The cheapest would be from API which is a color matching test kit however it isn’t the most accurate. It’s really up to you to decide
