A good video, Russell, that inspires me to get out and give it a go! However, I agree with Nick from Windy City Ap, that we would definitely like to see how you achieved seamless mosaic merges. It's something that has always put me off attempting it - the amount of work and getting near perfect mating, in particular. Paul.
Hello, thanks for the comment, so glad you enjoyed the video. I did a follow up video about how I edited the mosaic and stitched the 4 panels. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/HnVAg2-SB1M/видео.html I hope this helps 👍
@@RussellsAstrophotography Thanks for that link, Russell, and for making the time to share your knowledge and experience. Thankfully, I have PI but really haven't used it in any real depth. This will extend me in a good, positive direction. Paul.
Nice video Russell! You keep churning them out. I am overwhelmed with all kinds of stuff keeping me from shooting videos (and this time it is not the fault of the everlasting cloud layer over my country).
Thank you very much Martin...I might have a break now as just tested positive for covid and feeling pretty rough. I really hope you get some clear skies soon...I know how bad the weather has been your end. I will keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞
@@RussellsAstrophotography Ooh, get well soon Russell... My eldest brought a Covid case in my house too now, but except for him, so far nobody got infected. No symptoms as well, so I think we're getting lucky.
Very nice mate. I have done a couple of mosaics and Astropixelprocessor is such an easy program to use for them. You did a great job though and look forward to seeing what you add. CS!
And you've never done a mosaic before??? Ha, I mean a super WOW on the final image !! I love those colors and the detail you pulled out. It has a peaceful relaxing attribute. Great job.
Thank you Russell - I have to try capturing a mosaic with the Plan mode. I recently shot the Horsehead nebula with only a UV/IR cut filter and the colours were fantastic and there were no star halos!
Sounds great, I wish I had stuck to my guns and not used the l-extreme filter, I’ll have to reshoot it without any filters. Good luck with the mosaic 👍
@@RussellsAstrophotography working on it as we speak Russell! Done 90 mins Ha on both panes and have just started capturing RGB. Target time is six hrs per pane
@@ScottDavies I bet the Ha data looks amazing! A HaRGB image should be incredible! I’m tempted to collect some ha with my mono camera now I have it back after the oil leak!
@@RussellsAstrophotography it looks promising indeed 👍 I'm on my 2nd clear night here in Sweden and hoping to have another Monday 🙏 Once again great video and image 👏
Brilliant video Russell, I’ve not done a mosaic, may try one day! I really liked your final image, the colour palate worked for me. Liked the starless version also👍
Great video showing the capapbility of the ASIAIR to do mosaics. Stitching them together can be a bit of a nightmare but you managed to get them combined seemlessly. Will be interested to see the followup video on how you did the stitching.
Thanks Logan, yes I was tearing my hair out trying to stick them together, everything I tried had join seams but finally found a method that worked. I will release that video this week 👍
This was an awesome video Russell! I really enjoyed it and what a great save on the edit! Super creative and really cool colors. I never would've thought to go that route afterwards, but it came out so cool.
Really good video! We had a similar journey with our last project but on a single frame with our 250mm Redcat. We really want to try a larger mosaic and this has helped take away the daunting nature of trying to capture and stitch together multiple frames - Thanks!!
Great video, thanks! I'm yet to try a mosaic, but only about 4 months into this hobby I'm still perfecting the art of capturing and processing single images. I also just did the transition into the world of mono. Looking forward to your next video though!
Great video, Russell! Curious to see how you went about merging those; I have my method but of course there are many ways to go about it. Great final image!
Thank you Robert. Yes I did play with the saturation, but whatever I tried I couldn't get right...I'm definitely no expert in PI though, so will have to take another look at the data
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I use the app called Sky Guide. It’s fantastic I use it all the time. It has a great AR feature to plan imaging sessions which is what I showed in the video. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi Russell. Great video and fantastic image. I have a question, you mention that you are going to go back and re-shoot the orion nebula at a shorter exposure. Do you mean that for that panel you will use a shorter exposure time but the same overall time?
Thank you very much Paul. yes I plan to just reshoot the panel with the Orion Nebula in. I will probably shoot 15 second and/or 30 second exposures to pick up the detail in the core, and then blend them into the Orion core to make a HDR style image. Trevor Jones did a great tutorial on how to do this in photoshop.
I would be very interested to see the final image. Would you also consider adding HA data to the image, I am currently experimenting doing this, Trevor does it frequently and his images are stunning.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Sorry for the slow reply, I've been away. You should be able to pick up the plan using the same co-ordinates. Thanks for watching
Thanks very much mate. Yes I think that is something I need to give a go. I've seen a lot of HOO images from the l-extreme filters and they look great, so I will try that soon 👍
Thanks Russell great image and production as always. When you imported the coordinates did you have to amend anything I thought there was an issue with J200 vs JNOW? Really looking forward to your mosaic how to follow up! Thanks
The only thing that was slightly off was the rotation of the camera. I initially thought that this was my mistake (hence why I didn't mention it in the video), however, I have since heard the same thing. I didn't change the coordinate though, I just manually positioned the camera's orientation to match the first pane and then it all went perfectly.
Hi master...ante de todo me gustó mucho tu tutorial y la foto espectacular..una consulta máster, cuanto gain y tiempo usaste?yo igual tengo L extreme pero en el caso de ic434 no sale tan brillante como tu foto...saludos de antemano
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. I used 5 minute subs for this image and I think the gain was set to 100. I usually use with 0 or 100 gain for my asi2600MC pro. I hope this helps.
What a shame about the core of Orion. That’s data showed so much promise. The dark dust detail was great. No much integration time either which is impressive.
Thanks mate, I still need to go back and capture the core of Orion for this image, I have yet to do it. I was hoping for a clear night tonight, but it's clouded over very early :(
Great video and resulting image! I will def try this w my asi air. Keep up the great work!
Thanks very much Keith 👍 Good luck with your mosaic
Well done, nice video and great piece for a first time 👍
