  • (26 Jul 2017) A Daimler Majestic once owned by the Queen sold on Wednesday for 43,700 pounds ( 57,000 US dollars) at the H&H Classics Auction at Duxford Imperial War Museum, near Cambridge.
The car comes complete with many personal alterations introduced for Her Majesty the Queen, including buttons for activating flashing blue lights and a bespoke handbag tray.
The car was in Royal service from 2001 to 2007 and was regularly driven by both the Queen and Prince Philip.
After failing to meet its reserve the car was provisionally sold for 38,000 pounds (49,600 US dollars) but the seller and buyer later came to an agreed fee of GBP 43,700, slightly under the initial estimated guide price.

A bit annoying that the plaque on the glovebox says that the car was owned by “HRH Queen Elizabeth “. Should be “HM”, of course.

My future classic auto that I love to own. The exterior of the Daimler looks very modern back then and looks absolutely flawless for todays standard.

Nice motor, I'm surprised those security lights weren't removed after it left royal service?
Possibly an oversight or maybe they thought it was going into the jaguar museum on a permanent basis and not for resale?⚠️😯

I believe it was destined for the Jaguar museum but they changed their mind, not sure why. Possibly space? The auctioneer missed out the non standard back seat. Instead of two individual seats it has a bench seat, to be more dog friendly.

These old jags and daimlers are cheap old bangers over here on the mainland.
You basically pay for the 'owned by the queen' story.

Less than 20 years ago, Jaguar under Ford still built cars for queens, kings and mere mortals who loved a certain style and good taste. Today the brand, DAIMLER no longer exists, the jaguars are TATA LUX with banal, commercial design, ridiculous engines bought on the engine market. Then they will be stacked, like cars for children, perhaps in India they may like it but for those who love the British style ....... It's the end ......
