Trophies that take hours of mindless grinding. The main one I’m thinking of is craft 5000 collectibles in FFXIV on PS5. Haha right! I sent my wife a picture of the video with Heisenberg and said I bet the dread is having to fight him in the machine on Village of Shadows, I start the video, I send her a video clip of Rosie saying that like totally nailed it
This is a great video. I really enjoy going for the Platinum in games I’m really into, it gives me a sense that I’ve got my money’s worth and experienced most of what the game has to offer. It’s really just an excuse to keep playing and have goals to strive for after completing the main game.
The first game I thought when I read your comment was Skyrim. Those trophies literally make you do everything. But by the end of it you feel like you accomplished something
Getting trophies is great, but if it's "do it again but harder" or "play with strangers"... I'm out. I do like reading the Hidden Trophies. Maybe something to achieve or just nope out again. Great video. 😸

Definitely the online multiplayer trophies have me immediately not going to Plat. Sometimes the timed events in games (not including speed running. That depends on the game)
I look at a trophy list and see what they want and then decide if earning that trophy sounds like fun or stress. If it's fun....I'll do it. That's why I play games, for fun and stress relief.
As an RPG fan, I dread the *all endings* requirements the most. There are literally games I'll never platinum because I refuse to get the 'bad ending' or put my beloved characters through living hell.
Specially if some of those endings require you to pick up very, VERY specifc decisions througout the game. I just don't have the energy to replay the same over and over and again just to pick another answer/action.
I just love that this channel morphs into a trophy channel more and more. Ironically, one of the (back then very rare) Friday Features about trophies was my gateway drug into Access, but this was a time when Zero-Platinum-Dave still existed for years to come and only Nath cared a bit about platinums. Now with Rosie and Ash, all of the members have been in a trophy fever for 2 years or something, and I'm loving it. Sure, you're technically late to the party, but you're definitely welcome!
Two more things trophy hunters dread - permanently missable trophies that make you start the whole game again if you miss them, and glitched trophies you might not get even if you meet the requirements.
another thing that can be tough is when the game has challenges (destory all humans, saints row the third, or most relatable Crash bandicoot the relics) and you have to get the highest rank on all of them "get gold in all 48 challenges" or something to that effect sometimes the challenges are so rough just to get bronze or silver much less the gold
The Shard Collector achievement in Dragon Age: Inquisition. And the trophies requiring your character to walk a certain distance, especially when you're given actual means of transportation (Final Fantasy XV).
I just collected the last bit of shards for the Solasan Temple trophy in Dragon Age Inquisition a few days ago. Now I just have to beat the game on Nightmare for the last trophy and I can't bring myself to do another playthrough. Starting from scratch and putting another 30-40 hours is just 😭
For Inquisition I would've personally said Bell of the Ball and Regal are far more difficult. One is RNG based (Regal) need to use the war table to get material which are RNG for any of the thrones and the other is both a speed run (take too long and you lose points) and a combination of saying and doing everything right (say or do something wrong and you lose points)
You covered a lot of the good ones here. Dungeon Village is a great little game that I had loads of fun with knowing that I wasn't getting a plat out of it but my question by the end was "how does This not get a plat but My Name Is Mayo does?" I pre-emptively knew what Dave's point was going to be because I agree with it, the problem I personally have with trophies is indeed trophies themselves. While they push me to try games I normally wouldn't, they also keep me from revisiting games I love......To Rob's point I'm a slow player also ^.^ and to Ash I give a very hearty high five about the forced multiplayer trophies.....Grand Kingdom and Sniper Elite, I'm looking at you
Games which not only get you to play on the hardest difficulty but also want you to achieve the HIGHEST rank ON the HIGHEST difficulty really are a pain! On the subject of multiple endings though, I don't consider it "save scumming"..... more a "strategic save" , if you will :P
I pretty much agree with all of these. The only speedrun trophy I've ever gotten was for Stray and I sat here and watched a video of someone else doing it and did exactly what they did. Took about 95 minutes and then I had to do that ridiculous gauntlet thing 20 times and got my platinum.
Dynamite Dave! Loved the intro! And Rob, I so feel you. Speedruns are the worst. Sometimes not even because they are tough, but to me it often feels they are going against the nature of a game. I despise them! Still have done my share of them, because shiny trophies 😞
I enjoyed that one.Have you guys considered doing an episode in which you tell us about any personal traits that extend from gaming life to your personal or vice versa.I interested in knowing if Rob's penchant for killing random npc's extends any further than just games.
I got to say the experience is really fun but I got to say my least favorite type of trophy is the Grindy one where it takes like 10 hours of grinding for this one trophy and there’s not even a cheat or anything that can help with the progression
Ugh, the opportunities that can be missed. I always think of an old Final Fantasy game when it was on PS2. Even though there were no trophies back then, the monsters you could hunt throughout the game, there was like 5 monsters you could only get when your gametime was between 3 hours and 5 hours and obviously if you missed it, you would never come across it.
Absolutely agree with all the points! I'm not even a trophy hunter but for the ones that I do have and seen some from the internet, it's ridiculous. Just play and enjoy your games.
Yep. I totally agree on those points. I'd rather have a game like ac valhalla where you have to 100% complete it than having to do co-op missions or play on the hardes difficulty. First of all i'm not the biggest platinum hunter allthough in the last couple of years i gathered a few of them, but i play so many different games than i'm not super good at most of them just because i switch between games on a daily or weekly basis. Like i stopped uncharted on the hardest difficulty on the first real encounter with ennemies because they destroyed me a couple of times. And even though i like gettin a platinum, i'd rather play a game on a easy setting and enjoying it than torturing me with a hard difficulty. One of the only trophies i got where i had to play on hardest difficulty is the witcher 3. But mostly because i've allready played it several times before on other platforms or accounts and i had a strategy in mind from the start. Also i enjoy that game the most on the hardes difficulty because you have to use all the mechanics that the game offers you.
One of the trophy types I dread are ones related to minigames. While I love the minigames in and off themselves in games like Yakuza, why do you have to beat them on some insane "I will roast your chestnuts" difficulty. Some of the worst are the ones in Kingdom Hearts 3. I don't have the plat for that just because of those. I could easily make a whole list on just these damned minigame trophies.
I really dread the difficulty specific trophies, but the trophies that are worse are the complete the game without dying ones. Sometimes they pair this with the difficulty specific one. 😢
I love PlayStation Sony and Microsoft equally, however on my Xbox series when I earn achievements I'm literally earning money in small portions. For example over the last couple months I've earned about 10,000 points which is $10 gift card, or I can donate it to many many different charities. It's actually an amazing thing. Every time I see my achievement pop I know I can donate just a little bit more
Oh yeah this is why gaining those Microsoft points are awesome. Love it. + you can earn them even if you don’t have Gamepass. Good stuff you can redeem with those points.
Funny enough about the unlock able difficulty, I just finished Kena: Bridge Of Spirits on hard difficulty and it unlocked master difficulty which is the last trophy I need to platinum. I immediately noped out of it. It was already hard as balls on hard. Imagine how hard it will be on Master difficulty especially given that you gave to build your character back up from scratch.
I love this list, I’d have to include that one trophy in games that makes you do a easy thing a million times. Like get to level a million in online ranked stuff super grindy without any rewards. Also I always go for the good ending first so when there’s multiple endings to see I always get the plat with the super bad one. It’s like starting a 3 course meal with chocolate cake and ending it with like cold gravy (or something much worse that I’m not smart enough to think of)
Another great Friday Feature! The skits are fantastic and good to see the return of Dynamite Dave! As someone who also likes to play slowly, imagine if they had "must take 25+ hours to play Uncharted 4" trophy lol or "admires water graphics for 5 minutes straight" haha I know they'd never do that, but it'd be funny. A great list, online/multiplayer trophies are a bugbear for me as well, and the "judgement" is real haha with my 7 platinums.
Multiplayer trophies. And as a completionist, DLC trophies. Especially when you have no way to earn them since you don't have the thing needed to get them like PSVR. Looking at you Concrete Genie.
8th: dumbass trophy achievements • collecting stuff you don't need • jump [?] number of times in 1 playthrough • perform an action [?] number of times • romance every character • kill your character, many times even • do lewd stuff, like looking up a skirt, just for the sake of doing it and not because it's necessary for the progression • collection, of things which you won't even use everything anyway • condition(s) to fulfill by reentering a fight you already won, in the same playthrough before NG+ • side questing obligation, with no rewards I could go on, but I think you get the point.
Amazing video. Due to having very limited time I have sadly developed a habit of only starting a new game if I have realistic chance of getting the plat. Going through my games library and seeing all those games I'd love to play but don't touch, because I'm not going to plat it anyway makes me sad sometimes.
I just need a video to start with Rob saying, "Hello. You've caught me..." and then talking about the video. I don't want it to happen. I NEED it to happen.
I think the worst trophy I’ve ever seen was Messiah in Outlast 2. Beat the game on a permadeath run? I did that with the first game and Whistleblower, I can find a strategy maybe. Beat the game on permadeath while never reloading your battery ONCE? Never touching it. Not to mention that game has a few parts that are really annoying with instakilling you if you don’t nail it.
Other than online trophies, I'd add the missable ones where you can't go back after a certain point, and end up having to replay the game (or pray you have an earlier save file!!!)
he trophies I dread the most are those in little subcategories where they're all basically the same, but you can only get one per playthrough. Like Trails of Cold Steel. Form a bond with each of a certain group of people, but you have to do like a dozen playthroughs to get them all.
The rarest fish in the pond o-o oh no... I spent days working on that one, sitting close to the screen and measuring the pixel sizes of fish... But when I got it and later the platinum, I was ecstatic! Now Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle's platinum is the true definition of luck-based because of one trophy: Medalhead. You have to get lucky finding the throwing items in chests.
The real answer will always be Multiplayer trophies. They are the bane of every trophy hunter. The feeling of not being able to get the trophy through your hard work and persistence alone and having to rely on other people’s help is the absolute most dreadful feeling ever.
The incredibly time-consuming trophy. For instance, Star Ocean 4's trophy for collecting 100% of the in-game battle trophies, or White Knight Chronicle's trophy for reaching guild rank 12. (Reaching guild rank 12 takes 400-500 hours.)
I don’t know if the second entry applies to FromSoftware games as well. Also it was a godsend when I only had to play through Sekiro twice instead of 3 times for the platinum. I was able to just make a save right after the final boss to get 3/4 of the ending. Also also, if it makes Dave feel any better, I platinumed Battlefront 2. So I’ll play with you!
Burnout for me. This has only happened once, and it was with Elden Ring. I had already gone through the game twice, so there was very little to explore. At the end of run 3, I was feeling burnt out by the vastness of the game, and I didn't really want to see the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending. It was the only unearned trophy.
@@grunchlk Maybe I could learn if I spent 3 evenings on it 🤔 I will try again at some point, I left yakuza kiwami as well after having so much trouble with mahjong 😅
Multiplayer trophies can definitely do one! They should be a separate part of the trophy list doesn’t count towards the plat. Also when your beautiful 100% trophy completion is suddenly ripped away from you because of added dlc trophies
The only thing I would add is any sort of collectibles like feathers for instance or finding secret rooms that are required to find for a trophy. Also too when it says hidden trophy and you have no idea what you actually have to do to get it, maybe you have to punch someone 500 times I don't know
I have precisely two whole platinum trophies (for Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West), and I'm perfectly happy with that. At least I love playing those games over and over again...
I'm with you on speedruns, I far prefer enjoying it. I tried the uncharted 4 one and had something like 20 minutes left in the library bit. I gave up because I knew I had no chance. I'd also say ones that are too specific. By that I mean things like, in U4 again, having to melee, headshot and blow someone up, in a set order, in something like 10 seconds. Ummm how about no.
Two things; Online Trophies - I don't want to be beholden to other people or online servers being online. Grind Heavy Trophies - When I finish a game I don't really want to grind an additional 30 hours doing monotonous grindwork to get all items or something similar.
After recently (December of 2021) getting big into hifi and midfi I've noticed a lot of headphones that I never wouldn't have given a second thought to. Like at 8 minutes and 49 seconds, she is using the Beyerdynamic DT770 pro. More then likely (since it looks like she is using them for gaming) it's the 32ohm version.
What things do you dread when on an intense trophy hunt? Let us know!

Time trials mostly. I’m playing through the n sane trilogy and their very intense.

• collecting stuff you don't need
• jump [?] number of times in 1 playthrough
• perform an action [?] number of times
• romance every character
• kill your character, many times even
• do lewd stuff, like looking up a skirt, just for the sake of doing it and not because it's necessary for the progression
• collection, of things which you won't even use everything anyway
• condition(s) to fulfill by reentering a fight you already won, in the same playthrough before NG+
• side questing obligation, with no rewards
I could go on, but I think you get the point.
I just love this channel so much
2:51 so basically - Rob has embraced Conan the Barbarians philosophy on "What's best in life"...
10:18 That is exactly how I approached Chomp Champs before playing. Then I looked at the list on PSProfiles before the game even came out 😂
Now we know why Rob hasn't got the CTR: Nitro Fueled platinum yet.
Resident Evil 1 - I have just that one trophy left i.e., Knife only. I just can't bring myself to do it, and so I feel Team Playstation Access' pain!
Does anyone remember the days when Dave was adverse to platinum trophies? I certainly remember.
How far he’s come.
Pepperidge Farm remembers
I remember him getting his first one 🥲
Good times of Dave "Zero Platinums" Jackson...
3:36 Oh trust me Rosie. You weren't the only one who wanted to do that against Heisenberg on VOS.
Dave is that Trophy Hunter Guy we all love!!
Collectables that are missable requiring a whole replay just to pick them up.
“Very real Crash 4 plat” and Rosie’s scream after losing to Ash 3 times in a row 😂😂😂
Thanks!! I missed this kind of videos.
When the trophy makes you solve a hard puzzle in a certain amount of time. Forcing you to look it up.
I guess you could say speedrunning trophies are... UNCHARTED territory for Rob!
...I'll let myself out
If you listen very closely, as Rob is going to sit down, you hear a small pop, which I guess would be his knee cracking
I just love how guys can straight-up miss Nathan Drake with an entire magazine from a full-auto weapon at point blank range.
Ancestral Stormtroopers maybe? 😆
The real answer will always be Multiplayer trophies. They are the bane of every trophy hunter. The feeling of not being able to get the trophy through your hard work and persistence alone and having to rely on other people’s help is the absolute most dreadful feeling ever.
Rusty conga line of disappointment lol
I loved the comedy scenes in this video! Well job access!
Dave really gets me. I always say i don't care about trophies but the minute i pop one in the game I'm playing suddenly I'm hooked again 😭
The incredibly time-consuming trophy. For instance, Star Ocean 4's trophy for collecting 100% of the in-game battle trophies, or White Knight Chronicle's trophy for reaching guild rank 12. (Reaching guild rank 12 takes 400-500 hours.)
Dynamite intro Dave! 😆
The worst thing for me has been mahjong in Yakuza 😭 Sometimes I’m just not intelligent enough for trophies 🤣
I cant do the batting cage
@@coreyfaith69 we all have our strengths and weaknesses 😓 There is so much in yakuza I think most people find something they can’t do 😆
@@grunchlk Maybe I could learn if I spent 3 evenings on it 🤔 I will try again at some point, I left yakuza kiwami as well after having so much trouble with mahjong 😅
@@grunchlk oh yeah, MahJongg isn't terribly complicated or bad, it's just... learning something you never even tried playing before.
@@grunchlk 2/3 is good enough for most things really 😁 Especially Yakuza games 😮💨
I can relate, RNG trophies are the worst! Spending hours just to finally get some item, that only occurs based on luck... sigh
Ah the Mars bars....I remember you talking about that being in a future video.
"Look at me. I'm the trophy master now."
Yes Rosie! Heisenberg on Village of Shadows is an absolutely painful experience 😂 Still did it in the end 😅
I still need to finish Kingdom Hearts in under 15 hours to get the Platinum but I can't be bothered to finish the game again, lmao.
Two things;
Online Trophies - I don't want to be beholden to other people or online servers being online.
Grind Heavy Trophies - When I finish a game I don't really want to grind an additional 30 hours doing monotonous grindwork to get all items or something similar.
Every video Dave is looking more handsome than before. Congrats
