My brother ended his life back in 2019 and I'm still distraught over it. When I found out, I was emotionless and couldn't believe it was true. Then it sunk in and I cried for days, months... it's now 2021 and I'm still not over his death. I remember back in 1999, he took me to my first Deftones concert and I was a Freshman in High School. I will always remember that moment with my brother for the rest of my life. I admired him and loved him so much. RIP Peter Aaron Maturi.
I am so sorry for your loss man, life is such a painful yet beautiful journey... a ying and yang- we can never know what is happening for some people, sometimes their pain seems invisible, I can't imagine what you're going through- but just know people are here for you. Even if it is a stranger on the internet. Just know you will always have that memory of your beautiful brother. Don't ever feel bad or beat yourself up when life gets tough... it is tough for everyone, you're doing enough ! Always remember that. I hope you and the rest of the world has a better '21. Someday we will all check out of this world and reconnect with loves that have been lost. Until then, ride the wave and enjoy the journey- good things will come to you bro. Love from UK xx
Sorry for your lost..
🙏
RIP only his body is gone, we are ageless, he has joined the flow
sorry for your loss, I love my brothers more than anything else and know what it is to cherish memories. peace and love fellow human!
Many people probably don't know that this cd also had a VIDEO GAME on it!!! (IF you were using your cpu to play cds). It's a version of Pac-man, with a white pony in place of Pac-man and the band members' faces in place of the ghosts, and a really simple computerized version of "My Own Summer" playing. I already LOVED Deftones, but this little addition was pretty damn rad for a geek like me! : )
I did not know this. I need to get me an old cd and a disc drive for the pc
Haha I remember! I think there was also some other digital media if I'm mistaken on the CD. The height of CD ROM technology! There's a Primus album I had that did similar extra content for PC. It's cool how they tried to assimilate there content to emerging PC adoption to play music.
@@TheGlassEyesOfficial I'll sell you mine for $50k? heh. It's never been played, only copied either to cassette or CD. Truly, I actually don't know if I'd really sell it...or any of their others for that matter, that are same status. Also didn't know this, so now I'm tempted to try it out.
I was playing this game every day back in high school ..
does the newer cds on the net still have this feature ?
I remember traveling to montanita, ecuador 2002, at this time this beach was not famous are all, i have 17 years old, i give a cassete to the bus driver with the whole white pony album, and he play all this album meanwhile i was traveling thru a beach and jungle full of vegetacion, me and my friend where the only ones in this bus, and the driver really like this album of deftones, it was one hour of full good music, we where drinking and smoking weed and cigarretes in that bus, it was crazy and amazing at the same time, we fell kind of tire but happy at the same time, very cool and rare experiences at the same time.
Fuck... That sounds magical...
Yesssa... Thats f***ing magic❤❤❤
Montanita experience!
Props! Such a cool experience

If you’re reading this, you have good taste in music.
Pfft... Chino, maynard..... Either one you good

Facts
My favorite band, my bro 😃
This album played in my car for 2 years straight. Never ejected.
still playing bro lol
You from sac town?
I practiced in this same room the recorded in this in... It was called mad Eric's in east sac town across the street from the blue diamond almond factory... What a fucking privalage... Blessed by the deftones...
@jake im from Jersey and that is awesome!!!!
as a teenager, I played it in my room for years too.... BTW, cheers from the European Union
Over 20 years later, and this entire album still slaps so hard. The drums are so clean and present without being overpowering. You don’t see that much anymore.
Modern songs often have drums that make speakers make a brrrt sound. This one i can crank the bass to max and its so clean?!
Today, drummers use "fat" snare sound that I find too boring.
This album will never age
21 years later and here we are still crawling back to White Pony...fucking amazing album.
A-men to that comment dude. Deftones are Hardcore veterans as are all of us Hardcore fans We're all going nowhere and what a perfect example of what a great true band, music and fans is all about I was 15 when this album came out but Deftones for me 1998 to right now actually and forever until my heart stops beating as they're deep in my blood and my soul and the fact that I never went looking for Deftones they randomly found me and you already know this. We couldn't be happier about it. Music is the best thing ever created by human beings in my opinion. Anyway Much love stranger but also my fellow Deftones brother Grahm Petersen
and your lovely lady and, from America.
I'm taking a wild guess there but I'm Marc from Manchester UK - Nobody probably cares ha
but late night music nostalgia binges plus reading your comment made me do it so that's my excuse .
D E F T O N E S : )
was way b4 its time & will never old cuz magik & pure creativity are what keep white pony a non stagnant album 4the rest of its recorded/played musical life....which 2us music lives on thru the generations influencing/crafting upcoming artist & bands recreating magik all over again
Fuck ya it never gets old one and only deftones like no other unique original sound bruh
Forever timeless
i am most certainly
Digital bath was my first drum lesson. Took 3 months but I’ll never forget it
Billy Rymer stated that it is impossible to make that beat roll like Abe... why would anyone question that?t... I mean... the source? Cmon...
One of the greatest albums ever. The musical experimentation and atmospheric sound of this album never ceases to amaze and engage me. Blending their alt metal roots with shoegaze and even prog influences, Deftones created a magical album that will always remain an all-time favorite of mine.
Nothing like it hey, its amazing
Ohhh, I love shoegaze and didn't realize what I liked so much about this album
Dude... my teenage years were getting drunk and high to this song... I was 15 to 16... I drank for the wrong reasons, trying to fit in with what I perceived as my cool cousin, we snorted and shot up heroin in our late teens early 20s... we're still around, but I learned that young folks really will follow anyone off a cliff... but also that other band we followed was at the drive in, and they had their own problems with substance abuse... glad we made to our 30s.
nice… those are my two favorite bands right now
Masterpiece from start to end. Nothing gets skipped on this album.
RGT 85 big fan here! Around the Fur great album as well!
plenty misses
@@papaentrenando All their stuff with Chi was amazing af. He was integral to the sound and soul of the band. Was never on the same level without him. Rip my dude😞

@@Road2man like what?
Maynard's vocals on Passenger are perfect!
But to be fair, Maynard's vocals on everything are perfect.
When I bought this cd when I was a kid, I heard passenger for the first time. I knew that would be my favorite song for the rest of my life. 21 years later, it still is.
Funny thing though, I remember exactly where I was sitting in my living room on the floor, used my mom's component stereo to listen to it with the best speakers available in the house, and I SWORE TO GOD I'd heard that song. It was familiar to me in a deep, visceral way. Like it had already been a part of my life. It was the craziest feeling I've had, to this day!
My fav song of the album :)
digital bath is abe's best work imo. gotdamn, iconic. his grooves are so DOPE!
love the groove on feticeira as well
abe in general is a super underrated drummer, his ear for nuances is amazing.
Quintessential pocket drummer. One of the best, and yes, very underrated.
I'm 29 and only now I'm really enjoying this masterpiece
This album still has the only ability to simultaneously make me feel like I'm floating on a cloud and getting my insides ripped apart at the sane time.
I have a very specific memory revolving around White Pony. It was my senior year in high school. Classes were pretty much finished, and all the kids were having a BBQ in the parking lot outside the band hall. I'm a drummer, so I was close friends with all the band nerds. We pulled our car next to the building and had this album blasting. It was a nice, cool day with the sun shining. I had to leave early to go to work while everyone else continued to hang out, but I remember the magic of that day, and this album was a part of it. I've had a lot of good times in my life, but none better than that.
Easily one of the best albums in existence.
This is the perfect album for anyone who likes alternative music because there are heavy songs on here and not so heavy songs on here, so there's really something for everyone.
this almost ended up an abbott and costello sketch.
Lost my V card to Digital Bath. Thanks Chino, my unintended wingman.
you're my idol

I hate the positions but love all the songs lol
When this came out, it was unlike anything else out there. The best part is, after all these years, Deftones are still the most interesting band coming out of the 90s.
And they still are.
I was living in Australia with weird flat mates 2001 and they listened to this l thought it was incredible....
I mean, marilyn manson's mechanical animals album is pretty similar
The backing vocals in knife party after probably thousands of listens of this record still absolutely shatter my mind into tiny little fragments. Reminds me of another favourite track of mine, great gig in the sky 🖤
First time hearing 23:10. Damn, intense.
21 years old.... this album still kills it
Next slip knot
WHITE PONY IS SACRED .
WHITE PONY IS A FLAWLESS MASTERPIECE .
IT GOT ME THROUGH HARD TIMES .
I would agree, Sacred and Flawless!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND, BIG WORDS SIR!!!
it really is
same
My friend who passed away showed me this album around 2000 so it was hard for me to re-listen to this for a long time. 03:09 is the song that reminds me of our friendship. We would ride our bikes around town and find places to smoke. I like Knife Party too but Digital Bath really makes me think of early 2000's. Going from Elementary School into High School.
I love how music can not only be heard, but with the memories, smell, taste, weather, feeling, or even hate n love...fucking incredible.
Brings me back to Australia Wollongong 2001....the heat, relaxed atmosphere, now lm in Switzerland lol so shitty.
The snare tone on this album is so dope
check :-)
🖤
Oh hell yeah
Tama bell brass. I studied Abe's setup for years.
@@defthopeswell Good to know, thanks!!!
Still and always will be one of the greatest albums. Ever.
Deftones es la banda más grande que escuchado en mi vida.. De lo mejor, me fascinaba patinar escuchando bored en esos veranos necios.
Adrenaline es el mejor álbum sin duda.
Some of the most powerful music of all time...
It is impossible to not air-drum to almost every track on this album. I wish I had a set again so I didn't have to. Abe is the shit.
I feel what your saying bro. I’m a drummer to but I love to play air guitar lol
I'm a drummer to....the same shit bro!
Every track
Every instrument at some point t through out every song lol…basically act like your dying but in a zen when singing along with chino 😆
Abe is the man, but on this record the sound enginerring is as good as abe's drumming
Feiticiera! All the volume up! After working at nigth, with the firts sun shine on your face. It's awesome!!
Deftones is amazing, listening to this masterpiece on its 20th anniversary 🥳
Saw these with Linkin Park supporting in Manchester..omg one of the best nights of my f life thank you DTs
I loved this as a kid. I was the only person of my age that liked this sort of music. 20 years later and I still love it. I always will. But my my, how time flies. I can't believe it's already 2021, and I'm not that edgy kid anymore. Loved Deftones at age 10, and always will. ♡
It's funnu how you can appreciate deftones as a kid/teen because it's raw and full of energy, and at the sae time you need maturity to fully understand ther music
Twenty years, man. This was my favourite fucking album when it launched. I was 16. I could float here forever, anaemic and sweet.
Change is such a unique song
it's one of my all-time fav fr
My neighbors won't shut the fk up yelling at each other, so this is going on full blast like I used to do w/ my parents in 2000. Thanks bud!
Back to school is such an underrated tune. It gets a ton of hate for no reason. I know the label made him do it. But he made a true nu metal song so fucking well. Chino rapping makes deftones songs hit a range of aggression that the full blown metal songs can't hit. Just brings that swagger. When I go into something I need to get done, that swagger helps bring the house down. Badass.
I like this music.
Annoying fans always hate the most popular songs. In my opinion, what's great it's great. Fuck the wannabe 'tr00' fans.
I think the reason the band and many fans hate it is because it doesn't fit with the artistic vision of the album. They were pressured into doing something they really didn't want to do by the record label and they always regretted doing it. Anyway, having said that, i don't mind listening to it....it sounds pretty good.....it's just not really a track that suits the album it was designed to promote....but if viewed as a separate entity, it's far from a bad tune.
It was the first song I heard from the band and it remains my favorite.
The only thing missing for this version to be perfect was the backing vocal at the end of the official music video.
Siempre es necesaria una buena dosis de deftones una vez al año.
This came out in 2000? Holyshit! This album is still so very relevant. Even now I would say that this is one of the best albums in its genre!
hookers and blow are always relevant
this and Turnstile's new album is a good combo rn

Because music really stopped progressing after this era.
@matt22blaster that's so not true man. Get out from under the rock you live under.
There's plenty of great modern music out there. Don't be that guy.
I bought this album from a display in a local record store and it lived in my changer for years. Still a masterpiece
Lyrics:
The band: chugga chugga chugga chugga
Chino: aaahhhhyyeeeaaaaaaoooohhhhhuuuuuurghhhh
Takes me back 20 years..every time...life changing events to say the least...
This album will make any teenager run away from home
I didnt run from home but i took a bunch of acid to this album
lol
Tuxgasm hahaha i know!
This album makes people lead a homeless life?
@@Amadeus_Eisenberg Different perspective, different life, and different life struggles make a person homeless. I agree with with your sentiment but, a totally different band caused my life condition.
As an 1981 baby, if I die (like my grandparents at 100+) I will say this album is one of the best ever..
Right on!!!!
@@loribass4829 😉🤟🏻
21 years later, still one of the G.O.A.T!
This album was so ahead of the time we didn't ever realize it 20 years ago.
Not really, it's simply Nu Metal with Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine influences. Great album but it's a logical evolution of the 90s metal
It's basic nu metal with a great ambience. One of the all time best albums for sure, but it's not that ahead of the time. If it is then the older Deftones albums are too if this is.
@@MegaAndyGG Deftones are the only band I can still listen now that my taste in music is changed. Nu metal was an awful moment in music history, and we liked very much, but Deftones had something different, something more mature, and this album was their peak.
@@Alber777 Yeah. Deftones definitely was the "better" nu metal bands, for sure.
I miss those times. It's good to come back to this album after 20 years.
cruisin' thru LB CA then up to SF then between their and all else. Man CA back then was a gig u lived or missed, or both now.
in 2005 when I was in 2nd grade I found this album in my brothers truck and listened to it a few times and now that im 20 listening to it, is just giving me a big rush!!
One of the most underrated albums of all time. You either get it or you don't. Takes me back to a good time. Guess you had to be there.
This, around the fur and diamond eyes are great to bang to.
Thank you for putting this up without adverts. You will be rewarded in judgement day for this
Thats a very good point. The other day I just thought of the otherwise criminal activity that occurs with people accepting ads on music that they are not the creators of nor have any rights to.
Is that Maynard James Keenan singing on Passenger? Cool song indeed.
YES. APC, Tool and Puscifer.
LifeUderTheSwatter. I forgot about Green Jellÿ. I found this band last month when listening Psychostick (NSFW). Searched wikipedia and read that Maynard was in this band before Tool.
Yes it is. This means the best song Tool ever made, is on a Deftones album.
Me I go for the best song Deftones made is with Maynard Keenan James 😂😂 /joking * or not both are amazing but Tool are like the best of the best for me so
00blaat00 TOOL is fucking amazing sooo.. your high as fuck saying this is the best song maynard has done...
Korea breakdown is one of Frank Delgado's finest moments. Epic groove
This album is timeless, so hard to describe or pigeon hole. Just great emotionally powerful music.
I remember putting this CD on repeat over the summer headed into my senior year and driving around for hours on the back roads.
I love you Deftones. You changed my life. Thank you December 2021

This just popped on Rolling Stone's 100 greatest metal albums of all time list, reminding me of how proud I am to consider this album in my top 5.
Can you tell me the others 4?
Probably something like this, in no specific order:
- Slipknot, Iowa
- Mudvayne, LD50
- Avenged Sevenfold, Nightmare
- Deftones, Koi No Yokan
Avenged sevenfold never listened a track. gotta search. Does the ex dream theater drummer plays in this album?
Slipknot Iowa
Ateka9. Iowa and L.D. 50 are in the channel.
It should be a rule that you listen to this album all the way through. Such a masterpiece of an album
This album and around the fur was so ahead of its time
2nd tune, that was my lost love song for 2 years... I can't count how many times I was crying listening to this song... good, old, crazy times... and still this album sounds so unique. All the best to everyone coming back here, may the force... ;)
Me too. Something about digital bath mixed to clips of that old movie Girl Next Door just rips your fuckibg heart out when you’re going thru a terrible breakup
Awwwww this album brings back so many memories, and sounds just as amazing as the first time I heard it🤟

I brought this when I was 15 too. Golden memories. It wove itself into my soul good n proper !
My first album riding around with my first love, holding his hard you know. Then we grew up and life sucked really hard. But this album can take me back to the good old us.
Holding his hard what?
There is something about this album. No one ever record music like this . The vocal, the guitar , the drum, even the bass..no one..
The White Pony Platinum record was hangin up at The Round Corner for years!!
this still makes me remember the high scool days oh how we took them for granted things are sad now :( and this album fits
35:12 i like all songs but i think 'change' is my favorite
How have I never just sat and listened to this whole album? Damn, it is an experience
I've seen this album cover here and there throughout my life. Today I finally decided to listen to it for the first time. It really has that 2000s vibe, makes me think of the skating and racing games in the PS1.
A friend of mine recommended this to me and oh i'm so glad he did. I heard the tracks: Knife Party, Passenger and Rx Queen. After that i avoided this album like the flu till it got in the mail and once it did i instantly fell in love with Deftones.
Edit: By avoided it like the flu, i meant that i didn't want to spoil the rest of the album before i got it.
June 2022 you rock my world I love you Deftones for fkn ever

It's so crazy how every song transports you to a mental space of float in nothing, hearing the song and beign one with yourself
(digital bath, maaaan)
lo mejor de lo mejor tanta musica buena en esos tiempos nada comparado con lo de hoy
I read so many of your, "This takes me back 20 years" posts. I completely missed the Deftones, I knew they existed, I just never really had time to enjoy them and I am mad at myself. In July of 2000 I purchased my company. For the last 20 years I put everything I have into it. Because of that I missed so much, like this album or their concerts. Elite was just on Sirius Turbo, I enjoyed it so much I went on the Tube to find it and listened to it 5X in a row, then went to this album. I have heard Change 1000X on the radio, I barely heard Elite, and it blows my mind every time I hear it. This is my first time listening to this entire album. I am late to the party.
I'm glad you discovered Deftones and enjoy them. I was a fan of theirs back when it was just Adrenaline.
But when White Pony came out... oh man. There just wasn't anything like it at the time.
Elite is in a league of its own
I did do long drive for work around the time this album came out so a friend introduce this band to me and THIS was my go to album . Blasting it loud it ,it was living me in a between state of awareness and unconsciousness . Transcending music for me ...so good
One of their best albums
Damo Revo I agree
this and around the fur
This is their best album
This album definitely didn't come out in 2001. I started high school in 2001 and I remember blasting this album in junior high.
Was deployed when this album came out and was my go-to for putting the headphones on and zoning out, or working out. Definitely helped during a tough time in my life. It's in my top ten albums of all-time for sure.

cuando la musica popular era para jovenes que rompian vainas al escucharla.
It's crazy and pleasantly scary how relevant this album is still nowadays. It was like 30 years ahead of that time. It could be released today and it would be considered modern rock/metal. I have never heard an album that has aged better than this one.
