Those were the days in 1961 to 1983 when I worked for the PACD(now DILG) when was assigned in the Old Mountain Province. Our Team traveled those dangerous roads from Baguio City, Benguet to Conner,Apayao. Reporting from Bontoc to all 5 sub-Provinces really gave us goose pimples. Praise the Lord am now in USA! We pray that the roads will be completely safe to travel now.
I think this road is already a concrete road, with canal and gutter,,,,I am watching this video today January 4,2020...Last year my friends from Tuguegarao city have their trip to Baguio city and they travelled in this route..Tabuk, Bontoc, to Bagiuo using an SUV for that road trip...I agree that this video was taken more than ten years ago..A lot of improvement and development have been done in this long and winding road.

I've been there twice because I have my best friend living in Tabuk Kalinga. That was year 1960'S and 70'S. Very scary. I think Now is already wide and cemented like going to Baguio. That road it's been long time ago.

I think you're right ! To respect & cherries the mountain or the sea and nature as a whole provide us human with strong footing and inner strength to survive and flourish . Something instinctive but profoundly felt when we tune in quietly to our inner self.
Drove these roads when i was years ago, Baguio to Kalinga, the Halsema Highway Mountain Trail. You'll get used to it. You will realize how scary it is when you look back and other non-local reactions. Now (2010-2020 almost most of the raods are paved.

This road is already concrete...i just visit my homeland 2 years ago and we drove from Tabuk City to the this part that shown in this video...this Documentary was long time ago when Arroyo still thr President ...that was more than 10 years ago..

I'm a french men,i was there several times in Kalinga region.First time was on 1991.I live in the house of Victor Baculi,Barangay cpt.on the small village Luplupa.near Tinglayan on the other side of the Chico river. Last time was on 2019.Now the road it's better but always landslide destroyed the road again.When i go there i stay 2,4 or 6 weeks.I love this place,but the problem is not a lot of food there. In 2012 i stay 2 month and i loose more than 25 pounds.I live now in Camiguin island 12 years.I love Philippines.I will die here.
The family of my wife live countryside there...without these motobike-guys.. We couldnt visit them like at all. Its amazing, what these dudes all can transport with such a bike...my brother in law is veeery good in that...even a fridge...on the bike, up the hill....or driver, 3 adult plus 1 baby....nobody any helmet at all of course....however, I love the Phils and even more the ppl there...biiig biig hearts

For those foreigners who have never been in the Phil,the road network in this country are far better than those in Central,South America and those in Africa. The system of Expressways in the Phil are at par with those of first World Nations.

I was curious on the current condition of that road so I tried looking at google maps street view. The google view was last updated 7 months ago and thankfully the road is beautiful and cemented and no longer look like the road in the video.

I was curious on the current condition of that road so I tried looking at google maps street view. The google view was last updated 7 months ago and thankfully the road is beautiful and cemented and no longer look like the road in the video.
