Underrated car in terms of performance and price, especially with the Germans offering tons of "optional extras" which should be standard fitted these days. Good colour choice as well for the i30N. One thing that sold me at BMW was the aftersale customer service experience (although mine is for motorcycle, not car). If Hyundai is able to offer this then I think you've definitely got bang for your buck. Looking forward to seeing you on the road!
Thanks Mike, We will see how the after sales customer experience is with this Hyundai i also don’t have any experience with them. We have to take the mountain roads soon.
The i30N pretty much nails the hot hatch formula. Its fast and especially wild. Alot of other modern hot hatches have become way too "refined" or rather mute, especially the Golf 8 GTI. The 8 also still suffers from understeering (pretty much all VAGs have that problem), while you can smoothly kick out the rear on the i30N. It feels incredibly neutral while driving aswell, despite the typical hot hatch front heavy nature. In Germany they tested a Golf 8 GTI, BMW 128 Ti, Ford Focus ST and I30N DCT FL against each other and the i30N won easily; the testers found the Golf and 128 Ti to be boring to drive, with the i30N miles above in fun factor and handling, aswell as the DCT being the best automatic transmission in the hot hatch sector. My only gripe with the i30N is its weight; if they could shave off 50-60kg it would be perfect.
BMW made a mistake by abandoning its RWD platform for the 1 series. I guess that's why the German test found it bland. The I30N, as you've said it, ticks all the right boxes.
Long live the i30. You made the best decision. Me, personally, I would rate the exterior of the GTI a 6. Reason being, they didn't put in any effort. I have to look twice to make sure it's not a Polo GTI. Back in the day it was easy to differentiate
Fair comparisons and damn that i30N is proper and sounding proper; i wouldn't worry much about fuel if it sounds that amazing. Do give us a detailed tour on the interior...
Dope review man. I was not a fan of the 2020 model coz it was manual, that DSG was always an advantage on the Golf and it was competing with the Golf 7 which I think looks better compared to 8. So for the fact that this comes in DCT and it doesn't have any extras, i'll say it's a perfect buy
When comparing performance, you only considered engine power, and not how the car behaves on the road (steering, suspension, brakes, etc.) But nevertheless, you did the right choice. I'm sure that you won't be disappointed in how the car handles.
Thats true, I haven’t driven the car hard since i’m breaking it in but from all the reviews i’ve watched most people always say its top. Will do another video once i have done a lot of driving in it.
I mean all three cars are all front wheel drive and all have the same traction systems It's simple the Hyundai comes out on top because its takeoff and top speed is comparable to that of the Golf R and BMW M140i whilst being priced below its competitors significantly
I agree with you on this one I saw a head to head videos last year on some channels and they pretty much did what you did they also included how it feels when you're on the inside 😅 Would like to hear your thoughts on that. Otherwise, great content ✌️
I came to your video wanting to fight 🤣 but you made valid points. The pricing on a Golf is ridiculous... I had a 7 GTI, i thought everything came standard, kanti i bought a car with no xenon lights 🤣 didnt even know they had something called a 'Lighting Package' ... had to get aftermarket lights. Anyway, great video.... love the car, but I'll stay with VAG 😁 that AWD life is nice
This Car Is Beautiful...I Don't Wanna Lie. Hyundai Understood The Assignment Here!💯...Come Across i30N And You'll Tell It's Really Demanding Attention and Respect.🙌👏👏
Its about the price 128ti, Golf GTI, I30N etc 700-850 A35AMG, 135I, Golf R etc 950-1.2m A45, RS3 etc 1.2m-1.6m The A45 is in a different class compared to what my budget was.
“Its effortless ability to transition from genuinely engaging when called upon, and sheath its sting once more grown-up motoring is required makes it feel unique in this dwindling segment. There are faster hot hatches and ones that fight harder, but for sheer versatility, the 8 is pretty much unparalleled”. Almost impossible to find fault….aside from how faultless it is. My biggest gripe with the i30N… it rides firm at low speed. But great effort from the Koreans

So let me ask this. You didn't get one with miles on it that costs less than R700K? You went for a brand spanking new one at R779k? Or is this the MSRP you're talking about?
Based on looks Golf 8 is not beautiful... Golf 7.5 is the most beautiful Golf GTi followed by Golf 5 according to me but in this case i30N is clearly a winner
Its definitely faster than the 128 and GTI not faster than the I30N. Problem its not a good daily, manual transmission in traffic is the worst so its good as a weekend/fun car not to use everyday like these cars
