“To tired to keep hiking, to cold to stop” classic western rifle hunt. Thanks for keeping it real. 👍
I see a Llama in your future, you should name him "The Donnie Llama". Great bull!
The real question everyone is wondering, “did Corey grab the shed antler on the way back out?”
Nice interview on backcountry podcast.
Ferda
Probably not, they go shed hunting around this time of year.
FOR CRYMONEY SAKES! DID ANYONE PICK UP THAT ELK SHED!!?
They better have grabbed that shed
There is nothing better than hunting with unselfish people. When the goal of the group is to see everyone be successful and doing what it takes to help everyone in that goal. Makes for the most memorable hunts.
“If we build a fire we’ll never leave”, “I’m to tired to keep hiking and to cold to stop” these are the quotes that just absolutely sum up mountain elk hunting for me. It’s tough but man it is awesome when it all comes together. All of the cold and tired just goes away when you’re in good company packing meat. Congrats you guys.
Enjoyed watching the llamas. Hey John, they can climb.😊
What did the Llama see when he looked into the mirror? His spitting image!
Love when the intro pic has an elk laying on the ground. Can’t wait
The highs and lows of elk hunting. You looked and sounded so defeated at the beginning of the episode, then to take such a nice bull really made all the hard work pay off. Congratulations!
“Even better mannered than Donnie”, HA! Great hunt.
These last few episodes motivated me to spend more time on the Jacobs Ladder machine at the gym. Loving the hardcore hunt!
Great job guys. John is a rockstar. Could not be a more accurate statement.
The early bird gets the bull! Teamwork is where it's at. Kudos to John for all the great work!
My son told me one today: “Did you hear the rumour about butter? …I’d better not spread it.”
New MTN OPS flavor “Llamanade”!
Dad joke “ I got a circumcised once as a baby, couldn’t walk for a year after”
You did it!! Awesome job Cory! Redemption from last years miss. Letting Donnie shoot last year, I knew you would get blessed another time, and the time was now!! Praise the Lord!
I like how you guys say “you shoot, no you shoot”. Me and my brother both drew back on a bull that was at 35 yards raking his horns on a tree a few years ago and I said “on 3, you count”. He said “wa” and I let the arrow fly. I felt so bad. I couldn’t help it. He was still really happy that we killed him. And I woulda been really happy if he did the same. All he said was “you spot him, you got him”.
RMEF Strategy for Success - Invest in yourself and your health - go elk hunting every year....it is a life style.
John and the llamas are the stars in this episode....only way to go. These videos are very entertaining but I do think they tend to not dwell on the huge amount of work that takes place after the kill.
True friendship between you and Donnie. Very selfless. Great episode.
My son's birthday was during this episode he turned 6. Watching this series he got hooked because his birthday wish is to go Elk Hunting with Dad got me a Hunting partner for life thanks Elk101
These guys are awesome! I would say the hardest part of going hunting out west is finding the “Right” guys to go with. Selfless, encouraging, motivated, and willing to help each other is hard to find! I have that with my guys and it makes the hunt awesome regardless of the outcome! You guys are great!!
Brutal terrain guys...way to stick it out and grind through. The training and effort paid off big time. Hats off to John for putting in the extra miles to save the team...that's what's elk hunting is all about!
Such a selfless crew! Your attitudes make every season a joy to watch.
John & Donnie are the definition of a great friends and those lama’s are real “life savers”😂. Awesome hunt, lights out shot on a dandy bull. That country is definitely nothing to joke about.
John is definitely a rockstar. I wish we could’ve seen Donnie set up his rifle for back up. I’m glad you closed the deal on a great bull Corey.
Johnny the Lama gives that same adoring look at you as Donny does. Those lama’s were unbelievable.
Love that you guys portray the rough side of hunting. So many videos only show the glory, love seeing you huff and puff up the mountains, gives a well rounded picture of what goes into the hunt.
That is what it's all about. Favorite episode so far.
Congrats Corey! Way to go llamas! I've watched many episodes through Randy Newberg and others utilizing these llamas of Beau Batey. They are always awesome. Shout out to the cameraman for making the extra trip back to camp to get them!!
You guys Crack me up 😅
I really love watching your hunts especially Bow Hunting The Big Bulls. You always seem to get right in the middle of those Big Boys. VERY EXCITING TO WATCH. Thank you.
While John was hiking back up that hike up looked like hiking up the blade of a knife. Big time backcountry and big time pack animals ! You guys rock!
I still think its awesome that Corey hasn't had or wanted to rifle hunt elk for as long as he has! And for Donnie to be so selfless without missing a beat and handing off that opportunity to Corey without hesitation is amazing!
You guys are true examples of dedication and elk-determination. Keep going, going, going until it gets done. Good job.
Jon's an eagle eye, not only for video and photography but for spotting the bulls. Way to take one for the team in more ways than one!
PERSISTENCE PREVAILS! Giant bull, Cory! Congrats! That one is earned!
"I'm about to even the score...Get Ready"...cant get the opening song out of my mind. Look forward to it every night.
Nothing like having friends to help with a heavy pack out. Team work makes the dream work
Congrats guys! "Too tired to keep hiking, but too cold to stop...classic hunting elk in the Rockies. John - you rock! What a great team effort. Thanks for sharing.
Congrats to Corey on breaking the cycle! Hats off to Donnie and John for making those sacrifices for their hunting partners! That’s what it’s all about. Nicely done fellas.
When you guys are dead tired, and you just keep going back reminds me...I want to be just like you guys when I grow up, and I’m 63!
Awesome video! The rugged country, freshly-cooked elk, and trusty llamas instantly put me into an elk state of mind. Thanks Elk101!
Donnie is a great friend to give up that shot, what a bull! Well earned reward!
Wow. Thank God for friends with lama’s. John is a rock star.
I swear you could see the weight fall off you guys. Absolutely incredible country and you earned that fantastic bull! Persistence and great friendships generated a recipe for success! Congrats!!
You guys do a great job chronicling the journey of elk hunting! Donnie's dad jokes are on point this yr!
Perseverance is what it’s all about, getting up early day after day - this was a shining example. Here in CO we’re all about steep and rugged, way to work. I love the realistic portrayal nothing is easy about elk hunting.
John is the man! Saved everybody a ton of work on the packout for sure. Great job on a nice bull as well. I hope you rescued that poor shed antler from the elements as well.
I love the friendship and teamwork you all have. It's nice to have people you can always count on, especially when you are carrying elk out of that place. Awesome success!
Nice shot Corey!! Kinda hoped you’d interview the llama like a post game show 😂😂
Got to love it when your kids use your gear and you get to find out the hard way.
Looked like that’s some of the roughest country to not only hunt elk but also pack them out. Makes me want to hunt with lama’s and also go on a hunt with Beau, what a great guy.
The perseverance is an inspiration - my lack of calling is a hindrance - that great of a caller “still” working that hard is dedication!
Dedication, patience, and persistence succeeds. This hunt has me itching for a back country trip.
Congrats on a great team effort in some big gnarly country. Thanks so much for sharing your passion of hunting and the outdoors. You guys are an inspiration to keep after it to achieve goals. Although the same physical challenges don't apply to hunting whitetails in the midwest where I live but the desire for a successful hunting season is the same. I've been fortunit enough to out west a few times and plan to continue as long as I can. I filled my first elk tag this past September on a Wyoming archery general tag. I shot a cow on the 4th day of a 5 day hunt. I was thrilled to death to say the least. My youngest daughter accompanied me on this hunt and made for some great memories. Thanks again for the inspiration and your voice for conservation.
Way to go John, serving the team & making use of the llamas!
A good team makes all the difference when you’re in steep country like that ! Beautiful mature bull.
Awesome bull. Very lucky to have a guy like John to go down off a mountain then climb back up it for the sake of the “team”.
Persistence pays off...not always, but quite often. I've had more than a handful of elk kills after I've made the decision to not pack up camp and go home or sleep in for a morning. I truly believe that some years you just need to surpass the point where the elk mountains have decided you've "earned" the opportunity...and climbing 2-3K vertical each day is certainly earning it. Good work!
Nice shot Corey! Elk had quite the tumble. Way to be ready just in case Donnie and way to be a 'Rockstar' John to go get the llamas.
Very nice bull Corey. Also nice to see Donnie let you go ahead and shoot it. Hunting is fun, but hunting with friends is even more fun. 4 arrows, 4 bullets, 8 bulls down. Thanks for the videos Elk 101 team!
Even my 10 month old daughter looks forward to Elk 101s new videos. She even tries to imitate the elk calls.
Nice shot, Corey!! Stud bull for sure! I wish I could use some of Beau and Kirstin's llamas here in Colorado!! Thanks for bringin us along!! 😁🤙🏹🦌
Awesome back country bull, congrats! Glad Donnie was at the ready for the 'back up' shot lol
Love the llamas!!! Their personalities are so awesome, so sweet how they wanted to be in spotlight too while Corey was talking.
Congratulations Corey! Awesome Bull in that steep and rugged backcountry.
John you are the man. It pays to get up in the morning doesn't it .
That was well worth the wait!. Nice bull. Way to go John too for volunteering to go get the llamas.
Never cease to amaze me! The bond you two have is priceless!
I went back and watched your “learn to elk call series “ and learnt to use my tube and diaphragms in less then a month . Awesome break down and instruction .
Having such an awesome team to hunt with makes this hunt all the worthwhile. John came in big time with offering to go get the llamas. And having a buddy like Donnie who is willing to shoot the elk for you is epic. Great job on this hunt!
Way to keep on keeping on. Llamas are awesome. Glad all that climbing paid off for you guys. Hope you picked up that nice 6 point shed
Good job John, you were the rockstar there. Good shot Corey, and nice selflessness Donnie.
What a great team effort! That's what the hunting ethic is all about. Friends helping out friends...
Congrats guys!
Awesome hunt!! Very kind of Donnie to give first dibs to Corey!! Bravo! Awesome of John to go for the Llamas as well!! Hard work + great teamwork=Awesome show
Shout out to John for going back to camp to get the llamas. What a beast!
Those llamas are just so cool! They just make me smile every time I see them. Nice shot Corey and great bull!
Epic country to hunt in. I’ve been watching the beautiful country as much as the hunting. Love it.
Wow that's some seriously steep country, great job keeping at it guys! 👏Corey great shot, John is a great guy doing that hike just watching him going up that hill makes me sweat...
35 degrees and John just hanging out in a t-shirt trying to cool off from the work bringing in the llamas. Enjoy that steak.
Great shot and great friends. Everyones pumped and excited yet the cameraman is like I will walk back to get the llamas. Go get your elk Corey. Well done!
way to end a great hunt! So glad the lamas got to be put to their intended use. Way to go Donnie for being there for backup
"Too tired to keep hiking; too cold to stop. This is brutal"
-Corey Jacobsen
-Also me every time I go hunting
Big bodied bull indeed! Thank goodness for John and the llamas-that was some steep terrain.
Another GREAT video. I have never been up close and personal to a Llama. Loved the part after you were back in camp and Corey and Johnie did a great review of the days hunt.
Corey you missed the shed! You walked right by it! Luckily camera man picked it up on camera for all of us to see! Congrats Corey that was an awesome shot! John was the VIP this time getting the llamas and coming back to get the elk packed out. Thats some steep terrain right there, that's what separates the boys from the men! Donnie thanks again for that dad joke! Spectacle! 🤣
Great bull Corey! You guys and Newberg continue to increase my interest in the use of llamas!
I have seen Beau's llamas on Randy Newberg, what an awesome family he has...thanks for showcasing them...bucket list item is back country hunt with llamas..
You guys definitely put in the work on this backcountry hunt kudos! Well deserved bull Corey great job!
What a great team effort! Congrats Corey! John is a rockstar! Donny, way to be there with the snacks. That was clutch! Keep it going guys!
Such a cool bull in some cool terrain. Congrats Corey! It's probably a good thing you guys had John there and those llamas to pack out that elk.
Out of the archery comfort zone and still making big things happen!! Great job, keep it coming.
Early bird gets the worm I guess. Great shot Corey! Congrats! Hope those llamas (and John ) get some good treats!
Persistence paid off. Nice bull Corey, having those Lama’s pays off on this hunt.
Congratulations Corey! Great shot. So important to have solid hunting partners! Way to to take one for the team John.
Amazing Hunt what a shot so proud of you Amazing Bull
Looks like Cory bent his trekking pole! Great, hard-earned bull guys!
The Donnie (Jonnie) Llama is very photogenic. Nothing like the taste of that first steak that is the freshest it can possibly be! That is most likely my favorite part about cutting up the elk. To the victor go the spoils!
Pretty cool watching the setup with the lama's and you guys getting it done once again.
Awesome hunt. All the hard work and sore body parts are worth it. John is a rock star. Love how you guys support each other and there is no selfishness in any of you. I would say that Corey may have been the one behind the rifle but that bull belongs to all of you.
