Carving a Wooden Fork

- In this video I carve a fork from a seasoned piece of White Birch. I styled the fork after the spoon I recently made to make them a matching set.
Using only my hatchet and knife, I transformed a block of wood into a fully functional fork.
I wanted this video to be a thorough demonstration of my carving process and some of my carving techniques, so that is why some of the clips may seem a little long.
Huge thank you to everyone who watches.

I’m reminded of Bob Ross. He takes this large 2 inch brush and makes these wonderfully delicate “Happy Little Trees” and you take, what to most would be, this cumbersome axe and make a “Happy Little Fork” . You are inspiring sir.
I had to watch this twice just to view your technique, bravo good sir. Excellent job.
Beautiful work, man!
Great work sir.
Dude, Kusk, you've got some skills. Well done!
Our most cherished pieces of kit are ones we craft ourselves! Very nice work friend!
I legit don’t think I’ve ever been so captivated in my life… seriously I’m transfixed hahah. This is amazing

Thank you for watching!
I just got my carving kit and am so excited to so something like this!
Much love -TTO
Carving can be fun and relaxing, but don't do like I did. I just picked it up again after many years of not doing it - and I ended up sitting down for a 3 hour carving session that left me with cramps in my hands from not being used to the carving! Have fun and enjoy!
@@Edcognito lol I know the feeling! I am a tattoo artist and I do leatherwork and other "handsy" projects.
Cool, always super great stuff and much of it is like ASMR worthy. I'm betting others have mentioned that as well, I do not mean to be bothersome repeating that I'm just kind of letting them know they are right - my official blessing kind of thing. 😜 Next project can you please carve a whisk. 😉
Awesome video!!! Makes me want to go out and make my own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great work!!!
Just another thing to enjoy the outdoors doing, thanks.

Absolutely bloody fantastic. Nice bit of Burch, good knife (Helle?) Used with skill, passion and patience. Thanks for sharing :-)
Es muy interesante el tallado en madera , que sigas bien .
Sweet! 👍🏼🍺
Nice vidoe sir.......
Inspiring! Can I ask how many times you've had to start a carving over? It must take a lot of practice to get that good.
When I was younger I wrecked a few carvings either by rushing the process or by not being careful enough with my tools. These days I don't find myself making too many mistakes.
Thanks so much for watching, take care!
@@KuskBushcraft whittlin always a fun time
At the beginning of the video what were you looking for when you were examining the wood? cracks and knots? Enjoyed the video, great job using the "big" knife and hatchet. thanks for your time and have a good day.
Yes, I was observing the wood for any knots or checking. I was also looking at the grain of the wood to ensure the grain was properly oriented for the carving. Thanks for watching, take care!
Really nice little fork! good job! :)
Save that birch bark best fire starter out there hands down
Originalno👍

Lindo!!!!
Amazing video, skills and fork! Is there a special reason why you make the handle like that or is it just for the look?
Mostly for the look, but I also find it feels better in the hand when using it. Thanks for watching, take care!
🤯😃🤙
Hi Ryley✌ this is an awesome video man...I just wanted to ask you how do you sharpen your knife?
have you thought about making a stake? for the vampires?
Hello~
I've always have dreamt about doing some survival myself.. it seems so relaxing yet so challenging!
Do I Have to worry about any diseases when I start drinking boiled River/Lake Water or after I've cooked some Squirrel/Rat?
do you have to treat the wood after or is it good to use as-is?
Where's the kitty? 🐱
Do you gain ad revenue from your videos? If you dont mind me asking, how much do you make off of your internet presence in general? And if not, do you have a Patreon that people can donate to?
Nunya
