Losing my mind over christian's father blaming his son for being groomed as a teenager by an adult woman
The worst part is that shit actually happens. Like, we all know how badly women get that, but male victims of sexual abuse? I can't even imagine what they actually go through
@@dantevalehuntik28 legit
Do we know if he even said no? He could have said no. 15 is a real age of consent in many developed nations, for example France.
@@RobertMorgan it may be the age of consent in some areas but it still doesn't mean it was completely consensual due to the power imabalance of him being a teenager and her being a grown adult. Even if he was 100% down to clown, as a much older adult, she was responsible for turning him down and didn't. She crossed that line, not him.
Like we wouldn't be having this convo if it was an adult man and a teen girl. That's always my litmus test when it comes to this stuff.
@@RobertMorgan 15 or even 14 are ages of consent in some countries, but those teens are still protected when it comes to exploitation or manipulation in one way or another. And here comes the problem. On one hand a teen can give consent to an adult of their own accord, but on the other hand a case can still be opened because the adult has shown behaviour of grooming/emotional manipulation. Christian was a kid with unresolved trauma and emotional issues, and the case with Elena can be presented as that of a predator.

I find it immensely amusing they didn't cut out this bit - the editors probably didn't care either.
Gotta love everyone constantly telling him he's going to be a great father. WITH WHAT EVIDENCE!?
Why do you need evidence? It's just a thing you say. If you asked me if you looked fat in what you're wearing, I'd say Nah lady Devine, you look great.
Do I have evidence you look great? Probably not, you could be fat and disgusting, but it would be very rude to say that. So instead, you encourage people by being positive. You'll be a great father, Christian! You look great in that dress, Lady!
@@RobertMorgan This is literally the most ridiculous response ever xD Another "guy" rushing to Grey's rescue, and for what reason? Do you relate? Does that make you the abusive boyfriend or the bad dad? P. S. I look great in everything I wear. I don't need anyone to tell me.

E.L James was desperately trying to make Christian look sympathetic by giving him lots of traumatic experiences and yet I still feel no remorse for him. He is still an abusive monster who is openly jealous and controlling Ana.
what James doesn’t get is being abused doesn’t justify abusing others
Yeah, at the point where you're willingly causing harm to other no amount of trauma excuses you.
Of course, James isn't engaging with the reality that this is harmful behavior, so her attempts to justify his position is probably shallow shoring up of the "bad boy" archetype done in the same tastelessness as most fanfiction intent on fetishizing antagonists.
I hate Draco Malfoy so much, for all of this.
I think whats most disturbing is that the book was written by a married woman. You have to wonder if this book is a look into Christian or E.L.James. The number of opportunities she has to utterly damn him as a monster and refuses is just... wtf.
If he wasn’t a manipulating controlling asshole taking advantage of a naive virgin woman, I think we’d all actually feel bad for him. But this hell no, and the sad thing is that the fan base of the fifty shades trilogy literally defend his actions by saying that he was abused he can’t help it he was once a victim himself

@@RobertMorgan MANNNN !!! ive always wondered wtf did the autor meant by that phrase, was it supposed to be philosophical and sexy? Or didn’t i get it bc i’m THAT shallow? like.....WHAT DO U MEEEEAAAN
@@RobertMorgan “Call me by your name” is a bit more appropriate. In this sense, it is asking the person to become a part of you. When both parties agree, it can be a beautiful moment of togetherness. It’s different than “I want your world to begin and end with me.” That is possessive, holding yourself apart from a person while asking for their whole being (like a god to a worshipper). “Call me by your name” is more mutual. It means ‘give me all of yourself and I will do the same.’
The only time that should be said is when one is looking at themselves in the mirror tbh lol
That some supervillain shit
Christian: "It would be mighty fine if the rich paid more taxes"
That's the problem with the rich paying more taxes, they're already rich! They can dodge paying any taxes because they need no income to be taxed on.
Warren Buffet is a prime example of this: his employees pay more in taxes than him because he only pays himself a $100k/year salary. He has no need for taxable income, he's a billionaire. His philanthropy no doubt zeroes out any income taxes he pays on that $100k.
@@RobertMorgan that's a mighty fine point!
@@RobertMorgan It’s sick the personal things that rich people can write off if they claim it’s business in any way, like maintaining image. You can write off your hair plugs and yacht if it’s “for image.”
See raising taxes on the rich would just prevent others from becoming rich not demote the rich in any way

Poor Teddy, if Christian was THAT furious over learning that Ana was pregnant, and not wanting to share her with anyone else, can you imagine what he'd be like as a dad?!
Can you imagine him changing a diaper? 😂😂😂😂
He would be jealous of his child while he's getting breastfed.
"That's my milk!"
@@Gchildwarrior In the epilogue of the last book, when Ana was pregnant again, Christian was looking forward to nursing on her again.
I think that there are more implications about it. He wasn't the first priority when he should've been, with his mom. Now that he's coming to terms with allowing himself to be (his version of) vulnerable, with the type of woman he used to apply the submission he needed to project onto someone who resembled his mother. More sooner than later Parenthood, a hugely delicate subject for his psyche, appeared as a nuclear bomb to tumble the delicate equilibrium he was working to achieve.
He was a very disturbed person who actually got a little "together" by the boundaries of bdsm. So, on top of all his traumas and issues, he got a little together ¡¡¡by being abused!!! (!talk about bruised mind! )
Is not like he came out of a cabbage being like that.
BUT ultimately he was able to heal a little through his Parenthood, being - to his kids- the kind of parent he deserved as a child.. With all the kinks of the kind of sexual relationship he has with Ana.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm insulted on behalf of Anakin Skywalker. He might have had fears about fatherhood, but he was never angry at Padme for getting pregnant.
When _Darth Vader_ looks more heroic than one of your main characters, and said main character is meant to be _sympathetic,_ you did something wrong.
So am I because hello, if freaking Darth Vader who did so many bad things during the days of the Empire and killed a bunch of Tusken Raiders in Attack of the Clones is portrayed as more heroic- although Luke and Padmé were right that Anakin was still in there- than Christian Grey and I can name other similar guys such as Edward Cullen of Twilight, Gideon Cross in Sylvia Day's series, and a couple of others I can't think of now, you know that even those guys are better than Christian and you did something wrong. Jeez, I've read better fan fic of Edward Cullen, Gideon Cross, and Darth Vader besides the Legends continuity and he was a Sith Lord, probably the only good one since he still had remorse for his actions deep down!

Is it bad that I've heard that for decades when talking about grown men? From more sources than I can count. That's always the goal, the dream people talk about, a real man is master of his universe, king of his castle.
Maybe it's just something we in the over 30 crowd have always heard.
I always think of the part in Titanic when Rose is talking derisively about the rich men to Jack, "Now they'll retreat into a cloud of smoke and congratulate each other on being masters of the universe."

Remember that is these stories took place in a trailer park, this would be an episode of Criminal Minds. There is very little redeeming about any of these characters. It's an unresearched piece of fanfiction that's poorly written. No amount of billionaire money changes that. Grey is not a good Dom, a good boyfriend, and he is not going to be a good father. He needs an insane amount more therapy than he's getting, and regardless of her own tragic backstory, Mrs. Robinson needs to go to prison.
The film "Secretary" is about a bdsm relationship with the male protag named Edward Gray.

They really need to stop letting Wattpad Fanfictions be turned into movies.
But then we wouldn't have anything to make fun of
Or let the good wattpad Fanfictions become movies. Or tv shows like my original one that I’m working on
Will say, they're fun to watch and make fun of while drinking wine at girls night. But the author and movies portraying this relationship is toxic and doesn't properly show what a real Master/Slave BDSM couple is and the trust that goes into it. As someone in the BDSM community, I always tell people to look at this like any other film based on a culture or lifestyle: it's exaggerated and more than likely written by someone who's never been apart of the community. It still needs to be called out and critiqued, but I believe adults can have fun watching or reading these books and laughing at the ridiculous premise of it all, while understanding the toxic elements
This wasn't even on Wattpad tho ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ

Wait, doesn't this series take place over the course of a few months? How would Ana miss several Depo shots if they are only taken every 3 months. I don't think EL James knows how birth control works.
Yeah, it actually does take place over a few months. How ELJ makes that clear is in the 3rd book speeds through time by talking about stuff they did in back and forth flirty emails. She even dates them so you can tell time has passed and they talk about spending time sailing the weekend before or whatever. I can't remember if they're interspersed within the chapters or back to back like what SM did with the months that Edward left.
I'm so shocked that it didn't end with another cringe 'master of my universe' line. Like, what are you? Freaking He-Man?
In the middle of Amanda recounting some cringey sex from this book, I heard a RUclips ad: "Do you want a relationship like this?" It was for the Christian dating site eHarmony, making this the best video I've ever seen.

Funny thing; I watched an actual BDSM expert reacting the Fifty Shades of Grey, & she actually hypothesized that Christian might actually be looking for a "mommy dom." Of course, for that interpretation to fly, the author would've had to have any semblance of an idea about what actual BDSM is like. I'm definitely not master of my own universe. More like the roommate of an up-and-coming super villain, and my super power is really lame, like making things damp. :/
Given his jealousy, no way would Christian hire a bodyguard that hot and young for Anna! And damn! I forget how fast this timeline moves!
even pudgy gabumon looks concerned about this book. hes prays for your health
"Erica, this needs to stop" truer words have never been spoken!
"an expert in all matters involving this universe"...one might say you are now the master of the universe.
Wait so the presenting of Christian being either a victim or Participant doesn’t work because he was 15.. Stat r*pe laws exist. This is a awful therapist
No, it's a promot of trying to get Christian to realise own his own that he was the victim
22:03 I've always had a problem with this tbh. Like lack of consent is a major thing in this book, and this just shows that BOTH characters have issues with it. Christian didn't consent to unprotected sex, and never once did she mention that she wasn't getting her shots. With most of Christian's consent issues we see backlash, but it was really skimmed over when it was Ana tbh
As a fanfic writer, this makes me feel much better about myself.
Every time I feel insecure about my writing I just watch a fifty shades review
The fact that this trend carried from Twilight to it's even more watered down awful swill the words have not yet been made
Your sacrifice will never be forgotten Amanda. You are a true pal 😏
