Hey man, I really wanna say thank you. Your Sazabi video series alone is responsible for the current level of my personal custom gunpla skillz. I watched countless half baked videos, but none would ultimately improve my abilities beyond imitating others. You are the one that brought me across that barrier. Thank you again, I wish you all the best. It really means a lot to me. 🙂
I was lucky to get to stumble upon this the day after you finished this project, So much learned, the craftsmanship along with the creativity in the world building behind so many components. I look forward to you winning some awards for this piece! Congrats!
Easily one of the best builds ever done on RUclips, or potentially anywhere. What a fantastic thing to be able to see from start to finish. Thank you so much for your series, Ravi, it has truly inspired me.
Not sure what's more amazing, the *beautiful* example of a custom Sazabi that you've worked hard on and posted for our own enjoyment or the 145 saddos that downvoted your vid? Crazy! Just subbed to your channel, thank you for the quality content.
4 years late to this video. I just finished building the RG verison of the Sazabi, absotutely love this model. One day soon I'll build this bad boy, however, I'm not daring or talented enough to take it this kind of level. Though I do have to admit, your technique of masking tape and pressing it down with a cue tip for accuracy I will be taking for my own models.
dude i dont have word for this precision of scribbing the custom build looks awsome i hope one day i do my first custom in just started building gunpla like 5 months ago
What a work ! Even if Sazabi is not my favourite, I am astonished by the quality and the creativity of this piece, it's insane ! You did a great job !!
This is the most inspiring, relaxing and feel good video build I have ever watched. It brought back all the good memories of the builds I did with my dad. To top it off, what a build!
Finally! 😀 I've been looking at the work in progress pictures wondering if it had been abandoned. There's so much detail in this build. Well worth the wait.
We’ve waited for more than a year for this! The wait is over and it is worth it!! Great build and customization! Looking forward for your next build 👏🏻👏🏻
The Gundam look beautiful because of the details and not overly done unlike others RUclipsr builder I saw they over done the details of the Gundam this look more like a metal build and it's reminds me my old game RF online accretia ❤️
this is absolutely amazing!!!. i finally got my hands on a PG Zaku II and im planning on doin some stuff-n-thangs to it. Thx for such a great video, build and such inspiration.
I hope I can be like an artist like you.. I'm a newbie when it comes to gunpla. The patience and dedication you did is just remarkable! The skill is on a whole new level... I love your work on this sazabi..
I have been building ultra-high detail aircraft, ship, and tank models for almost 2 decades now and have just started getting into building Gunpla as a long-time Gundam fan growing up. It is a whole new world and a lot of new techniques in addition to tried and true ones that apply to model building in general. I am not sure how long you have been building Gunpla or what experience you have with model building in general but I can give a few tips that will help you work your way to this type of outstanding work: 1. Sanding tools are your friends! Buy various grits of sandpaper, sanding strips, blocks, sponges, etc. Every bit of sanding equipment you can get your hands on. Find the ones that work best for you and give the best results. 2. Buy a good quality set of nippers. Better yet, buy one basic set of nippers (here in the US we call them "Flush Cutters") then a high-grade precision set. Use the basics for initially cutting parts from the tree then use the high precision set to do the final trim on the parts. 3. I cannot stress how important a good hobby knife is or how critical it is to change the blade regularly. A dull blade is a nightmare and an accident waiting to happen. Yes, you will accidentally cut or stab yourself eventually but it is far less likely with a sharp blade since they cut easier and don't tend to grab then suddenly slip. 4. Paint. Yes, even this is considered "customization" in the Gunpla world but in the scale model building world, it is a part of life. I won't get into brands and types as that is a discussion all on its own but just start out with the basic acrylics from Tamiya or any other brand you prefer. Be sure to get the supporting thinners and cleaners. If you are moving between stages, such as from paint to panel lining, spray a gloss clearcoat between them so the paint is protected and you can remove excess lining or wash safely. Same with decals and weathering if you so desire. 5. Invest in a decent quality airbrush and compressor (with moisture trap and regulator) and PRACTICE with it. Once you get the hang of a dual-action airbrush your life we become immensely easier and your end product will improve drastically. Stay away from knockoff airbrush brands if possible. Iwata for example makes an excellent product for under $100 USD and if you take care of it will last. As an extension, CLEAN IT after every use and between each color or paint type. The key to airbrushing is getting the right consistency of paint via thinner (or even water in the case of acrylic paint) in conjunction with the right air pressure. Thin coats are your friend and prevent the "goop monster" from emerging on your part. 6. Supporting tools. Get both self-holding and standard tweezers, Part holders and stands, clear gloves, small empty bottles, airbrush cleaning supplies, paper towels, Q-Tips, various grades of masking tape, scribing tools, decal setting solution, craft scissors, cutting mat, hand drills (pin vice), pipettes, etc. Many of these items are very cheap but they can add up quickly so start with the basics and work up. 7. As a beginner, read ahead in the instructions and make yourself familiar with not just the step you are on but the entire section you are working on. This can prevent you from missing things and having to go back and re-do work. 8. If you are getting tired, whether that be your eyes, mind, or body in general, STOP WORKING. This is when mistakes happen and there is nothing worse than while scribing lines on a part in your 3AM fatigue and you scribe the wrong line or slip and gouge your part. I speak from experience on this... 9. If you airbrush indoors invest in a modeling airbrush booth. They are a great investment and can be found on Amazon. 10. When you get into very fine and small detail work I highly recommend a jewelers magnifier or a magnifying ring light. Your dexterity and precision will improve when the parts are visually larger to your brain. 11. Start out with High Grade or possibly Master Grade kits. being an experienced modeler I started with Master Grade and they are a great balance between cost, build complexity and quality. That isn't to say that High Grades are bad, it is just they will require a lot more work to get anywhere near the level of quality shown in this video and tend to be simpler kits, in general. As I said, you may already know all of this but I hope this helps at least a little. Feel free to message me if you have any more specific questions. It is a fun hobby and a great way to "zone out" for long stretches of time. It takes a LOT of patience and a healthy dose of trial and error but it is worth it in the end. Slow and steady wins the race in model building. Good luck and have fun!
Welcome back, firstly I am happy that you are well, I did message you on Instagram because of the long silence. Secondly, congratulations on completing this build. Absolutely STUNNING. Inspiring passion for details. PLEASE SHOW THE SHIELD AND WEAPONS TOO!!!
Welcome back Ravi! I still wish you will sell a resin conversion kit based on this magnificent build.
