I never felt like this band got the credit they deserve. I loved their music, still do. The range that they could achieve vocally was outstanding! One band I wish I could have seen live with all the original members.
I saw them i '84 at a venue in Watford,Mud being one of the other '70's bands to play,sadly Brian was a bit worse for ware,and the opening had to be restarted,(but i think that was a band fault),anyway they pulled it off and played like true pros..........i was only 21.....LOL..SWEET,great band

Ah, I recall the year. I was in 6th grade, 1975/76. My teacher, Mrs. Letts, was the coolest. It's when I discovered I loved Ballroom Blitz! On rainy days, she'd grab a stack of 45 records, throw em on an old turntable, & we'd jam. We often pushed back the desks & danced. It's the only year I liked school at all. Mrs. Letts & The Sweet were the bomb. Both got me thru an awkward, tough year. For all you young-uns out there, a 45 record is a small black disc with grooves in it. It's spun in circles on a turntable. An arm with a needle on it is placed on the spinning disc, which plays the music embedded in the grooves! It was cool! It was GROOVY, baby! 🤣😁👍

This was recorded in 72/73 but wasn't released in North America until 1975, so it is almost 50 yrs old, but still listenable. In 1975, we sure as hell weren't listening to music recorded in 1925. I actually still remember the 1st time I heard this song, in Oct 75, being introduced by Dick Clark on his American Bandstand show.
This is one of the Best *Crunch Guitar* songs of all time! _Proto-punk rock_ and very raw! I heard the song on AM radio when I was growing up, but I just listened to it again several times with my head phones on. The guitars are amazing, and especially for its time. Wow.

"Desolation Boulevard" was my girlfriends and I favorite album during our teenage years. It was played constantly during our summer vacations at our cottages in Quebec. Thanks to RUclips, 40 years later I am discovering that instead of being an American Los Angeles band, Sweet was a British Glam Rock band! Wow, Brian is so gorgeous and Steve is so flamboyant. Thanks Andy for keeping your legendary band alive. A reborn fan from Canada!
