Cant believe Holden failed to keep these cars going as they are truly something special and will go down in the history books as being one of the best all round Aussie sports cars! Its really a shame that they stopped production when they did just as the american market started to heat up again with classic rebirths of American muscle.. Challengers, Hellcats, and Cameros to say the least.. i wish Australia was competing directly with them! imagine a Australian Hellcat Competitor! would be epic.. and sad it will never happen now.

Nice to see you made a review with the maloo I knew you'd enjoy it. Holden shut down due to GM stopping funding for Holden and the aussie car market no longer wanting to buy big aussie v8s in general. Sad because there will never be another car like these again. Next you should try to review a LSA powered VF or something older from the 90's/earlier 2000's as there is a very little amount of videos of commodores from that time on youtube. Ross Reviews While the cars they’re releasing are quite nice to drive (I’ve driven a few) they’re just not really holdens at all. Also their reliability has been shockingly bad as far as I’m aware. Holden Malibu driven by someone at work needed a complete engine replacement at under 50000km’s 😳

@@RossReviewsau GM US killed it off, not the local GM arm. Ford had the original Ute in 1934. GM and Ford decided to make the El Camino and Ranchero based on what eas hapoening in Australia
Didnt Ford ranchero start sometime in late 1950s around 1958

Red SS yes very cool rides would love to drive one state side and see the reactions! Lol the SS is still a great car! Lucky they were sold there! Still blows my mind they didn’t sell very well over there 🤷♂️
Ross Reviews simple really, GM admitted they did not plan much investment on marketing or advertising the Chevy SS in the US. No one buys what they don’t even know exists lol. Even to this day, many people don’t know about them, including car enthusiasts. GM only imported over 12,000 units from 2014 to 2017. I was told many reasons, but a common one was for an inventory obligation to Holden, so I guess they didn’t care to actively promote the car or sell through them. Even dealerships are known to be clueless as to what it really is. What’s interesting though, is the Chevy SS sold out by end of 2017, or early 2018. No new ones left. So in my opinion it was 100% sell through rate of success, from an accounting and financial perspective. The SS has slowly become more known in the car enthusiast community here though, mainly through word of mouth, social media, and being seen on the drag strips and road courses. To be honest I am glad it’s not a well known car, that it is rare here, enigmatic and elusive. I like how you either know what it is, or don’t at all. Makes the car more special to me, where you get a little excited to see it in the wild, like spotting Bigfoot or an alien or something lol. Because truth is, you rarely see them. When they appear at car shows, they get attention. I took mine to a few car shows and recorded some reactions - it was awesome educating them about Holden and the legendary Commodore. That’s why I started my own channel when I bought mine in 2016 - simply because there wasn’t a lot of videos about the car here. It’s my daily driver so the miles are high, but people spot me a lot and ask about the car. Gets lots of stares on the road, and the small Holden community here is a tight one. Love this car! Hope to keep it running for thousands more miles 🤞🏼
@@RedSS yes i remember watchin doug demuro review a SS and he loved it.. he was baffled why it didnt sell well but mentioned like you that the marketing was non existent.. real shame it wasn't marketed it could have made holden stay open a few more years possibly :( all the good aussie cars are dead now
@@RossReviewsau US unions were not happy GM was trying to sell a V8 sedan that was not built or designed in the US, so they had a deal with GM not to promote it in the US

How did this compare to the f6 you reviewed? personal preference build quality etc? as almost direct competitors. Noise wise these are much better but I personally prefer the f6 (especially utes) ironically named tornado which is almost similar to the Malloo meaning. Love the variety of cars ross great job!!!
goonbag warrior they are different animals in the driving experience! The Holden felt a bit higher quality in side if I’m being honest.. but really depends on what you want.. Holden felt a lot more relaxed v8 power is smooth.. F6 is scary honestly once you hit boost!😅

I thought this ute came a 430kw LSA motor but Ls3 would sure do the job🤷🏽♂️ anyways great video once again 👌🏼
Coops jr the last model did have a LSA 430KW.. but this one only had 375😅 still no small number and it was fantastic to drive! Hope to get a LSA soon!
Had 317/325kw in the first generation VF until hsv moved away from the LS3 in the series 2... LSA is a completely different animal and has world class performance... I say this because I work at Mercedes benz and have been in plenty of E63/C63.
Liam Deering Liam Deering VF maloo also came out in 340kw R8 SV package. Series 1 VF had a special edition Maloo GTS with 430 kw, then final series 2 edition HSV Maloo GTSR with 435kw. Also an R8 LSA with 400kw.
You should try one of the LSA versions of the VF HSV's they would most defiantly blow your socks off. Hope to see a video soon :p

I bought a brand new Heron white VF series 2 SSV Redline 6.2 litre LS3 engine 6 speed manual with Brembo brakes front and rear.
It's awesome.

There are some utes in the states. You have to ship a body over and cut out the fire wall and swap it with your left hand drive. It gets registered as a holden because of the body. Look into it as it has been done more than once. I seen it on U tube

My uncle had a VF maloo GTSR LSA ute.. Was the fastest ute i had ever been in

you cant get that year Maloo in any other engine type but you could get a V6 that had a similar body style not quite as aggressive but still in the ute body.. commodore V6 in the ute shape.. no diesel tho from what i'm aware

A Ute was intended for workmen or farmers and to buy a Ute you have to know what you're buying and why you're buying it. GM America pulled the pin on us.

All holden cars have a overstated max power. Ford actually understate there power figures.

Ross Reviews yes I can agree with that man I am a ford guy I like the style of some holdens but I don’t like there engines and that I’m just a ford guy that’s just me personally I find straight 6s better then v8s cause if u tune a v6 right and the right muffler it can sound identical to a v8 but I love v6s more for the speed and torquee ness
