    Outstanding report, and congratulations on #5 as your #6! Heading up there with friends in about 2 weeks, so this with was valuable. Well done.

      Thank you! Recommend getting there early or car camping as parking fills fast! Good luck 😃

    Dave I just hit my 32 14er. Nice job! I liked your video. You did a great job narrating the video. I enjoyed the music also. I am headed to la plata peak in the morning . God bless you!

    Did this route two years ago and it was no easy hike! Very challenging, very beautiful and definitely not a 14er you want to hike if there are storms on the forecast.
    Great vid

    This is on my list for my next 14er due to easy trailhead access and view. We did Yale a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. La Plata sounds similar. Went to do Grays and Torreys yesterday and the road to the trailhead is a nightmare, view is average at best and worst part is it’s so crowded. Probably won’t go back again

      This is a very beautiful hike. I know that there were only a few spots left when we got there super early in the morning - lots of people car camp at the trailhead. Grats on Grays and Torreys, I need to do those just so I can mark them off of the list :)

      Summited La Plata today. It’s a tough climb but the view at the top is worth it. Beautiful day with gorgeous fall color. We car camped at top of Independence Pass on a clear and windless night and drove to trailhead around 4:30AM with only a few cars there

      You should be fine endurance wise. Check for current avalanche conditions a few days prior, might be a lot of snow on the mountain then :) Most likely need snow gear, spikes, gaiters, etc.

    Nice! We plan to do this hike in September 2021. As I watch most 14ers hike on RUclips. Seem like everyone starting very early? Does this trail have any part of Big scramble or just straight up? Thanks.

    • @Davespates
      @Davespates  3 года назад

      I wouldn't call it a big scramble it's mainly just boulder hopping. I'm not sure about the other standard route though

    It's all about selfie videos, silly phylisophical comments, , shaky cell phones, incomprehensibe talk on windy days, and lots of rocks.😂

    so nice to not know where or how to get to the trailhead other than it is probably somewhere in southwest Co. ?👎
