She was never queen because she was never acclaimed by the leading rulers. She was forced into her coronation by her crazy power driven family. She was ousted pretty quick by Mary I who was the legitimate heir and in direct line for the throne
I would argue for the inclusion of Edgar Aetheling and Lady Jane Grey. Both were proclaimed/elected. I suspect their omission is because they were not crowned, but neither were Edward V nor Edward VIII
i'm not sure about the others, but in the case of Lady Jane Grey: she herself did not claim to be queen, she was fully in support of the notion that Mary was the successor, and Jane Gray was just forced to be an unwanting figurehead for an attempted overthrow
The original house was demolished and rebuilt. It is accurate to say George IV built the current palace, which has since been expanded and renovated many times.
She's not an actual Queen. Same reason for Empress Matilda. They were never fully crowned Queen. They were only proclaimed Queen. You have to see the difference. So they don't really count. That's why they're disputed.
I don't see lady jane gray as the first queen of england Or empress Matilda because they were never crowned queen. Mary I Is more considered to be the first Queen regnant Because she had an actual coronation. While empress Matilda was coming to her coronation the people ran her out So she was never really crowned Queen.
16:57 sorry for nit- picking, this is a great video, but Elizabeth II became the longest serving British monarch in history not the longest serving monarch in history.
It’s a fair and accurate comment - perhaps caused by my Anglocentric education and my lack of a second pair of eyes on my scripts. 🫤 thank you for pointing out.
@@HistoryBoxChannel Sorry I can only imagine the time it takes to make these videos the last thing I'd want is someone going ' well actually'. Elizabeth was the longest serving Queen in world history and oldest serving monarch.
If you're going to include Edward V you basically have to include Matilda, surely? While uncrowned, very much like Edward V, unlike him she actually held power and ruled for a brief period.
Well... That update missed the essential update.... Elizabeth II the current Queen. And after that Charles III the current Monarch.... If you want to change and update: do it properly....
Anne was the last monarch of the Kingdom of England. Since 1707, there has not been a Kingdom of England, and hence, no Kings, nor Queens of England. There have been monarchs of Great Britain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and the current one, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
This was a very impressive video. So many monarchs to talk about and yet still kept good accuracy
i am glad to see it updated. ever think of doing a collab with history matters?
Goodness! 2 uploads?? You spoil us! 😁

I LOVE IT
The Duke of Buckingham built Buckingham House in 1705. Did you mean who bought and renovated it?
The original house was demolished and rebuilt. It is accurate to say George IV built the current palace, which has since been expanded and renovated many times.
Can you do the French monarchs?
And please post daily
Fix your Shakespeare brief of Richard III and it might be somewhat accurate in places.
😅can you do chinese emperors from 221bc to today
Why is Lady Jane Grey Not in this. Yes, she was not Crown Queen But she did rule 9 days so she should be in this

@@Cadence733 Actually I appreciate the feedback, so thanks :)
When are you going to talk about the Stuarts?
Hmmm probably in 3-4 months Because usually it takes a month to post these videos.
Might have to update this in a few months 😅 but God save the King and get well soon! 🏴
We might as well prepare for William at this point.
😊
👌👌👌👌👌 Yeeeeee
The Tudors really did the most for England and the future United Kingdom !
Charles II … early Prince
Still should have mentioned that Edward 1st ended Welsh independence
If you're going to include Edward V you basically have to include Matilda, surely? While uncrowned, very much like Edward V, unlike him she actually held power and ruled for a brief period.
She was acclaimed queen but then the barons threw her out

Just add the word "British" before the word "Monarch" in regard to Elizabeth II and you will be right as rain.
Edward 1st all day for me
All the female Monarchs wearing the same clothing is just ironic 😅

Charles 3rd is a major disappointment
Why?
