I remember watching this after the whole casting shakeup with Joanna getting fired and it was so awkward. Britney is cute & had a great voice for being so young, but the fact is that she is so young. Annie is supposed to be streetwise & confident and at least 10 years old and Britney just seemed unsure & doesn't really project confidence. Joanna was able to convey all of that. I had heard a theory that maybe the producers felt that Joanna was going to age out too quickly & that's why they went with Britney since she could play the role longer at age 8, but that doesn't explain why they just fired Joanna for no reason via a note while she was out sick. It makes me think something sneaky was going on. All in all, it was really unfortunate & overshadowed the show. Honestly, until the whole Beanie Feldstein/Lea Michele fiasco with Funny Girl, this was one of the worst casting controversies I'd ever heard of.
No way could i have done that at 8. Yes Joanna was a prodigy, she went on to bigger better things. I enjoy Brittney's acting decisions here, she's great 👍
A little girl with a great voice and she was very good as actress too. Wonderful Brittany, but I wouldn' t kick Joanna out, also she was talented. So they could be alternate on the show
Her voice is great, her acting seems a bit forced. The song seems rushed. She was making weird faces at the end. Should have let Joanna go and then let her step in after she outgrows the part
To her credit, Tony performances are usually sped up to a sometimes ridiculous pace to squeeze their number into the strict time space. Doing the entire policeman scene in the middle was also a bizarre choice.

I just hate the fact that they fired Joanna and she has such a stronger voice than Brittney but Brittney has a beautiful voice but in my opinion I love Joanna’s voice better than Brittney I love the both of them but Brittney was to young and when Joanna was to old for the part Brittney can come in. Also Joanna had control of her voice while Brittney had some control. THIS IS MY OPINION SO DONT START A FIGHT

Yes, they did Joanna wrong but remember Brittney was a child and had nothing to do with it! Both are amazing
I saw her twice in the show she definitely got stronger as she went on and for 8 years old she’s got a very mature belt

Brittny was a cute annie. A bit different but that's what made her good. Amazing voice for a little 8 year old
