I owned Pit as a child. We ran into trouble playing the game because we were too good at determining when someone was one card away from cornering. We wouldn't trade with him, and ultimately, the game would bog down, with no one able to clinch a round. But that red bell survived the deck of cards itself, popping up in unrelated games we modified (sometimes solely to get the bell a workout) until we were in high school.

You can still buy a new copy with a bell (sold as "Deluxe Pit"), but it's a standard chrome bell rather than painted red to match the box.
A few years ago I had to play test some games local school kids had made. One of them was this fast paced traded game where you had to swap cards until you got a set.
Skip forward to today, and I learnt their game is literally just PIT but without the bell.
I got bamboozled by 10 year olds, thinking they'd come up with a unique and exciting concept .

Your dramatization exactly mimiced my families game nights down to the NO! When you just needed one more goddamn wheat but uncle tim cornered right when you got traded the bear.
PIT is well-liked in my family, and it is absolute *chaos* to play in real life, in the best way possible! The silent mode totally changes the game, makes trading so much more stressful, but victory feels so good!
I can't imagine how tense a game of silent Pit could be in real time
I love this game so much, I grew up with it and it's one of my favorites. One time my sister got so mad at the bear card, she bent it in half, permanently making it incredible obvious if you had it

So, I'm not German, nor am I really that old, but I actually have some potential info about the song at the end.
Based on the techno-rock genre of the song, and the voice of the singer, I am almost certain the song is at least from a band called "Statues in Motion". If you listen to any of their songs on RUclips, you can absolutely tell it's the same band. Same instrumental style, same singer/same vocals, etc.
I don't have any info 100% confirming it's them, but it seems like a very, very good place to start.
I have a copy of Pit and I love it whenever I can convince people to play it because with a group of at least 4-6 people it’s a really fun game.

God I played the Simpsons version of this so much in middle school. We used to play a version where we would take one card out of the deck so one player couldn't get the full none. Full chaos

When you start a round with Bull and Bear cards, two people will start with 10 cards since they're added to the standard deal. If you get the bull I guess you can go for it then

Once, some friends and I came up with the idea to combine Pit and Catan. It was certainly a game.
I had completely forgotten about this game! My sister had it and we played it a lot. But we didn’t do the yelling thing.
I remember playing something similiar (it could be the same game, I don't recall). I know the problem we faced was that we after a few rounds, we knew the other players well enough that we could tell when someone was one card away from cornering the market. We amended this by making cornering 1-2 cards off a wincon. Eventually we made junk trades well enough to know who needed what, but at least it wasn't a stalemate.
My grandparent's loved playing Pit so I have very fond memories of playing with them in the 70s

i had that exact orange bell as a kid, but i'd never heard of this game before watching this video. we had a big cabinet of board games which i looked through multiple times, but i never found the box or the cards or anything. i was simply blessed by some past relative with the Mystery Bell(TM)
If you want an even crazier variant, try Pit with spoons.

Sounds like actual fun, then you realise that f there are 7 suits and 7 players, if you just get a hand of all different cards you can just do nothing and be sure no one else can win.
I still own the 1973 version of Pit. I never thought I would see anyone talk about it on YT.
When you said "and this section is only for Germans" and put 'like the wind' as the bgm, I thought "Wow, nice reference, I doubt a lot of people will get it...", and then the whole segment is about the song lmao
I watched this video solely to learn how to play the game. My parents had the same version of the game that you showed plenty of times from the 70s, but the instructions were lost, and it was never played at any point I would have understood what was going on, and perhaps never even when I was alive since I don't recall anyone playing it and me being confused as to what was going on either. All I had to go on was that there were a bunch of cards as described and the description on the box. By the time the internet came around, I completely forgot about the game, as it probably was thrown out on our move in the early 90s.
Honestly if the bell wasn't orange it wouldn't be worth the purchase.

I played this game at a party as a kid, i had to go to the bathroom, they dealt without me, and I came back to see a hand with 8/9 cards of a type. Turns out they all conspired together and gave me that hand on purpose, and then ensured I'd never get that last card.
