The Nakameguro cherry blossom festival is back! After a three-year hiatus, Shizuka and the byFood team head to the Nakameguro to celebrate the return of this beloved Tokyo festival. The beautiful sakura trees leaning over the river make this spot one of the best places in the city to enjoy hanami, or flower viewing.
Of course, no byFood trip is complete without enjoying the local snacks, and Shizuka tries a variety of festival street food. Snacks like the classic hanami dango, wagyu on a stick, and a sparkly glass of strawberry champagne make the magical walk under the cherry blooms even better!

I always love Shizuka's energy!
Very contagious right?!
2:35 - "I haven't seen a pink one. Normally they're brown...I'm excited to try this pink banana."
Those river shots are so beautiful!
They are! Thank you!
Gorgeous festival, happy tipsy people enjoying the spring and one another. Thanks for a wonderful view.
It's so nice yes!
Yay! I was here 5 years ago for my first hanami in 29 years since the last time (I know), and it was amazing! I really loved the pink lanterns and all of the strawberry-themed items the shops along the street sold. The highlight was definitely the waterway just covered with all of the cherry blossom petals; truly gorgeous. Thanks for bringing back the flood of lovely memories, Shizuka!
You're very welcome! We're glad you liked it as much as we did!
Would like to see more of Kai! Amazing video 😁
Noted!
oh, that looks amazing, and lookin' pretty amidst all that beautiful scenery, the production and editing is on point! I was very happy to see the items you chose, they all look so delicious, I'm having fun now thinking about exploring everything from top to bottom and being hypnotized by the cherry blossoms as I indulge in all the good stuff
Thank you very much! We really appreciate your feedback!
This is so classic! Make me know you can film people drinking at an open street market festival and enjoy the time. Seeing the older people pass by there makes me see that living in Japan is well work it! 👍
It is so worth it yes!
Love seeing Shizuka on Monday morning 🥰
Glad you like starting the week that way!
Whoohoo! So cool! SO Bright! Camera and editing on point!
Thanks, we really appreciate your feedback!
Enjoyed the video alot ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for the video 🙇🏻♀️ Sakura Blossoms were so pretty 💖 thank you for showing it to us too loved it 😆✨.
Love Shizuka-san! She gives me so much happiness whenever I watch her 😍.
Be safe and take care everyone 🙏🏻 God bless ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
The banana with the dango 🍡. as a combo would be so wrong.😂. Sakura time is so festive. Cherry blossoms are celebrated in other countries but nothing like this. And drinking outdoors is cool, assume that people here are cool and respectful to get that ability.
Thanks for your comment!
Love this place Nakameguro ..
A wonderful place indeed!
Get well soon, Shizuka. Wow, what a beautiful location! What a fun place to eat!
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
Thanks for the support!

Stunningly beautiful. The flowers are alright too.

We're glad you liked our content!
Thanks Shizuka, I really like Japan and I’ve never been 😮 it just seems so nice. 😊
It is really nice indeed!
I so miss Japanese street food and the warm friendliness of the communities for gatherings such as this. Arigato for bringing this to us Shizuka...I hope to make it out there for the Aki honbasho in Sept? I need to spend one full day watching sumo, then the rest exploring the wonderful eats and drinks.
I'm almost positive that Shizuka doesn't even know how to get upset or mad. She's was made out of full positive energy.
That's a big compliment! Not sure she would 100% agree with that assesment but thanks.
It really is great people are back out and being merry again!!!!!🌸👍🏻🍱🍶
Yes there is such a great vibe!
Thank you for the Vlog.... It makes me want to visit Japan again and experience the cherry blossoms and the delicious foods. 😄😄
We hope you can come back then!

@@JapanbyFood thank you for commenting! I'm a new subscriber
I used to have a plum tree in the backyard that would bloom like that.
Then you would wake up one day & it would look like snowfall.
Hopefully it does that in Japan too!
Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
@@JapanbyFood You're very welcome.
So cute and adorable 🥰. Thank you for all your blogs so informative and inspiring.
You are so welcome!
The dango looked delicious Shizuka! I've been to Japan several times but I never tried dango. When I go back to Japan I'll definitely eat one. Thank you for the cool video Shizuka!
Yes you definitely should try dango when you come back here! Thanks for commenting!
This is great! It seems so similar to festivals that I have seen here in the US... and yes Shizuka you are forgiven for breaking line. 😎
Good to know!
That looks like such an interesting festival to visit, I'd love to see Japan's famous cherry blossom lined streets one day.
We hope you can make it someday!
When you and Kai even have color matching jackets lol
It looks so much like we planned this 😂😂😂
Maybe it was part of a bigger plan, who knows??
The yakisoba and the strawberry waffle looked amazing
They looked AND tasted amazing tbh!
Got to go to this festival in 2019 and visited again 1.5 weeks ago during my trip. It was still just as beautiful in the rain! I made a day of it and got a reservation at Haute Couture Cafe for the sakura sensory overload 😂
This cafe is highly recommended!
I only used to go to fairs and festivals every so often. Now that they're coming back, I'mma be at every single one.🎉
You should! 🎉
How timely, I was here last April 2 from late afternoon to early evening.

Cute AND delicious yes!
That dango sword! lol
Very original right?!
Beautiful
We love the views!
So, fun fact: my USN grandparents lived in Nihon post-WW2 ( in Okinawa ), and when they came back to the U. S., they had all of their household stuff sent to them. Unbeknownst to them, as a result, I developed a lifelong ❤️ for both the Japanese people and culture. Thank you so, so, sooooo much for your continued work in exposing the beautiful culture of Japan 🇯🇵 to the word; I literally cannot WAIT to experience it for myself someday! Domo arigatougozaimasu, Shizuka-Chan! 🎉😊
Oh that's nice! You're very welcome!

It really is!

Beautiful! You and Kai would be so cute together as a couple! You should have Kai on some time haha
Think you might make a video in the US in Japanese districts like the one in San Francisco? Annual Cherry Blossom festival is coming up later this month!
Love Japan
We love it as well! (ofc)
Shizukaaaaaaa
Seek help.
was there last weekend! but it was raining=( Still pretty though!
That wasn't that bad with the rain from what we've heard.
🍡 > 🍌
Others may disagree haha
Hello your smile is very beautiful I'm from Bangladesh
Which dates did u go?
First comment
Good job I guess!
I would imagine someone who has alergic to the pollen would not be a good place to be around those flowers. It's pretty and refreshing though.
👍
Thanks!
How to get there to naka meguro ? Near meguro yamanote station ? Or there is a nakameguro station ?
Tokyo Tokyu Line and Meguro Line! Very close to Shibuya:)
Hey there! Just wondering, did you keep track of the calories from all the cherry blossom foodies you had? The strawberry bubble waffle looks horribly high in calories. Sometimes I worry about Shizuka... She should do many workouts this week! 🙀🙀🙀
Haha thanks for asking but there is no need to worry! I'm sure she is more than fine when it comes to health!
@@JapanbyFood okay 👍
8:26 awkward.... LOL
Im forme Bangladesh 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
Nice to know 😊 the channel has a global community!
Yes and we love that!
Pink banana 🍌 😏
2:35 - “I haven’t seen a pink one. Me neither” Liar. You have seen plenty of big pink and black ones shizuka 😏
Shizuka eating a banana.. what a treat 🤡
😂😂
I do it for the fans 😛
So committed!
My first trip to japan we visited here on the tail end of the season, and had yaki-imo (sweet potato from a truck), and then stayed here on a later trip for about a week during en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Hagibis. Even outside sakura season, it's a great place to visit. Plenty of good food and bars, close to shibuya, canal is a nice place to walk, and several amazing coffee places in the area: onibus and switch (down the canal a bit, closer to meguro).
Yes this area is very nice!
how long does sakura last, a month?
On average - 2 weeks, but 3 weeks at the very most. That's what people are impressed by - the fact that such showy flowers are fleeting and don't last a long time.
Exactly!
I see you @shunchanjp @9:28
