This old white lady got box braids about two years ago ... well because I had several months of ... hair ... everywhere ... all the time. I think my hair thinned out. So I got braids for a break on dealing with the hair ... everywhere ... all the time.

As a Caucasian person with mostly straight hair, I am always in awe when I see afro hair styling. Afro hair is so versatile, I am legit jealous every time! Your client looked so good with her natural afro, but those braids suit her so much too!! I love watching videos such as this, because it introduces me to techniques that I never see from Caucasian hair videos. For example, I love a good braid too, but my hair is very fine so I get loads of flyaways and frizz and it never looks sleek and slick. But it never occurred to me to use extension hair to make my braids more robust. So thank you for the educational content! ❤
I do have one question though, if you don't mind me asking: I know afro hair requires less washing in general, but are you able to keep the braids in to wash your hair, or do you need to take them out? For my hair, I know keeping them in would lead to tangling (because of the aforementioned frizz etc), so I was just curious what would happen with textured hair.
She has less braiding hair in so her hair would frizz up, but if she had more braiding hair in she could get it wet and gently wash her scalp. Other braiding styles like box braids, sew-ins, and locs, etcs can always be washed and you can get a touch up if you want. For me personally, I get a lot of fly always because I have 3c hair and I wouldn’t be able to wash. My mom had to canerow (cornrow) my hair every week and wash every two weeks.
I think her hair looked beautiful both ways😊
