Looks fantastic. Can’t wait to see it full of Orchids ❤. I used to live in Katy Tx. Sprinkle corn meal on the ground. The aunt can’t digest it and take it back to the nest and it will kill everyone in the nest. It’s safe for pets and kids. And other animals. Just not insects. Works wonders! Uncooked of course. It’s amazing. And by the way. My Mexipedium didn’t make it 😢😢😢
Awesome sunset!!!! Get rid of those fire ants before you move everything in !!!! You don't want to be doing a jig every time you enter the grow area !😅😂😅😂😅😂
Nice shade arrangement for the orchids! I liked seeing the guys help you. Do you have a fire ant nest in your yard, or do they travel there? I watched an interesting video once of a guy pouring molten aluminum into the ant mound which I confess I enjoyed. Nice sunset! I live 5 minutes from Lake MI (east side in MI) and the sunsets are always good. They were especially beautiful last year when smoke from the Canadian fires came down the west side of the lake for several weeks.
The fire ants are one Texas’ most commonly reviled invasive species. New colonies are constantly popping up in yards, so it’s a never ending battle 😢 Lake Michigan sure sounds nice right about now! Especially as summer heats up here 🥵
Nice job! I’m just heading out to put up a similar 8x20’ shade house using EMT conduit, but with a low rise on it. It’s going up on a cement slab, so support will be different. I’m a 70+ female, and my son will help, because of the height and it’s just easier with more than one person. My point is, as you’ve nicely shown, anyone could construct themselves a shade house. I’m not sure where you got your connectors as they can probably be purchased many places. I’m using ones purchased from Makers Pipe which I mention because it has great customer support. It also has a ton of info and videos on how to build just about anything out of EMT conduit. You can get some great ideas on building additional structures for your shade house. Can’t figure out the best way to complete something in your project, an email gets a prompt reply of help. I found an excellent video for constructing a hanging, foldable table to construct once I’m finished with the shade house. They have some nice connectors that would allow you to add conduit across the top or sides, after your structure is standing, to hang things from. Your orchids and you will love the additional shade you’ve provided. Happy growing!
@@michaelpye5972 For sure! I really like the design of those shade houses y’all have over there. I’m surprised we don’t see them here in the States at all.
I'm still not sure you won't need a piece of cloth on the open side facing the house, I guess time will tell, but she's looking good. Hopefully the HOA won't get on your case about it.
Luckily they can’t see the structure from the road! 🙌 I’m actually going to keep the sun lovers (Cyrtopodium, Polystachya neobenthamia, some milkweeds) in the sunny part near the open side facing the house. Those plants will enjoy the sun until about 3 and then will enjoy the shade. The “normal” orchids will be in the middle which will be shaded all day long!
Stephen hi i am new to your channel and i think i watch each videos 🤣. So i just bought my first catasetum from ecuagenera from a show. I bought this and the leaves are yellowed already one dropped but my climate is summer already 18C to 30C degrees. People say it might have been from other places and might be entering dormancy. The catasetum is well plump when i bought it. I watered when it came in my home. I dont know what to do should i stop watering since no new growth no roots growing and maybe entering dormancy or i water him since my climate is warming up?
Good to meet you! Where do you live? Ecuagenera usually ships from South American so their seasons are opposite of the northern hemisphere, so there’s a very good chance the plant is going to sleep! I’ve got a video I made with Fred Clarke about importing Catasetums and it might be helpful! I can find the link if you’d like.
@@SVKLOrchids 😍😍😍 im from Rome, Italy. I think ecuagenera also have Nursery in Germany. But i also think you are right the catasetum that i got is from South America. Please can i get the link? Thank you so much! 😊

Hi Steven😌🙌I'm really happy for you final getting a nice shady structure read for your orchids😌👏
Looking great!!! Building a nice shade house while building memories with the kids 😊 Beautiful Sunset ❤
Thanks! I hope the plants do well!
I thought only Ohio had hard clay soil 😅. No fire ants 🐜. Just plain ants. I like your shade house for the orchids. Beautiful sunset 🌅. 🤗
Thanks! The clay soil the builders used at my house is terrible!

Looks good so far. Will give you plenty of room.
Yes, it’s so much nicer to have plants spaced out!

Great to see this!
Fire ants are tough, hope you can reach a truce.
It’s a never ending battle! Invasive species get no mercy in my yard 😂
