Nope, but I'd suggest farming SoO for full gem gear, that helps a lot all the time. If the scaling is bad wait for Level 80 and new talents, those will probably give a huge performance boost even when downscaled.
I also think it felt easier because we knew the basics and what we would face, so the adaptation stage was a lot faster this time and with proper Moonfire-ish talents it became a lot easier after 10.0 for sure. During the Legion fight it depended on proper Legendary items, the chest and wrist combo made it practically easy mode with extending the range of important attacks that normally only hit at melee range. Oh, btw last weeks of MoP Remix, Garrosh Heirloom weps have gem slots and scale very nicely for Mage Tower. I'd strongly suggest those.
